To address shortcomings of ICP algorithm, which is sensitive to the initial position and easy to fall into local optimum, we propose a Harris Hawks Optimizer (HHO) point cloud registration method combining PCA preprocessing and parallel population initialization. The PCA method is used to align the point clouds with the main axes and perform the main axes correction. Since the six input variables in the population initialization stage of HHO point cloud registration are different and independent, the initial population of HHO algorithm is initialized by the parallel initialization method. The results show that the improved algorithm is able to successfully overwhelm the fault of ICP algorithm, and its global seek performance and optimization accuracy are more advantageous, and the algorithm operates efficiently, with high registration accuracy and robustness.

In this paper, we propose a hybrid algorithm that combines an improved Artificial Potential Field (APF) method with the Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm for path planning of an electric power operation robot manipulator in complex distribution grid environments. To address the unreachable target issue inherent in traditional APF, we introduce a distance regulation factor to optimize the repulsive function. This modification allows the manipulator to smoothly approach the target point as it nears, while the repulsion from obstacles gradually decreases. Additionally, to overcome the limitations of the traditional SA algorithm, such as its tendency to get trapped in local minimum solutions and its inefficiency in complex environments, we propose an adaptive temperature rise strategy. This strategy increases the temperature, enhancing the probability of escaping local optimal solutions. When the APF algorithm becomes trapped in a local optimum, the improved SA algorithm is applied to escape the local minimum. Once the local optimum is avoided, the algorithm switches back to APF to continue the path planning process. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed improved APF-SA algorithm adapts effectively to various complex environments, achieving shorter planning times and higher success rates compared to traditional APF and SA algorithms. It successfully resolves the unreachable target and local minimum problems associated with APF. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed APF-SA fusion algorithm is validated through experiments conducted on an electric power operation robot experimental platform for distribution grid applications.

Hand paralysis caused by stroke, spinal cord injury, or neurological trauma has a significant impact on the independence and quality of life of the patients. The hand exoskeleton can provide hand assistance and improve the patient’s grasp. In this article, a novel wearable flexible hand exoskeleton is proposed to assist users in activities of daily life. To create a simple and lightweight assistive hand exoskeleton, 3D printing is used to manufacture most of the components, and a remote drive system is designed to reduce the weight of the hand exoskeleton. A ball pair device and a slider device are used to ensure the freedom of the thumb and the adaptability of the hand exoskeleton to different hand sizes. Finally, the experiments are conducted to verify that the hand exoskeleton can achieve motion assistance.

Imagined speech production with electrocorticography (ECoG) plays a crucial role in brain-computer interface system. A challenging issue is the great variation underlying the frequency bands of the ECoG signals’ encode information, which makes current methods difficult to generate imagined speech with stable quality among different persons. To this end, we propose a robust model to generate high-quality imagined speech from ECoG. A frequency enhancement branch is first designed to adaptively modulate the frequency information, whose product is fed into the following multi-scale channel attention module for robust feature extraction and fusion. By incorporating both the mel-spectrum and audio as training constraints, a multi-constraint decoder branch is finally constructed for imagined speech production. The performance of our model is evaluated on a high-quality dateset, i.e, Single Word Production Dutch-iBIDS. It yields Pearson correlation scores that are all above 0.8, and the standard deviationsare are all below 0.2 in different volunteers. Experimental results demonstrate that our model is effective and robust for ECoG based imagined speech production, and has advantages over peer methods.

Environmental selection is an important process in multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs). As the evolution progresses, the number of non-dominated solutions increases. This paper is focused on selecting a subset from excess non-dominated solutions for evolutionary or the final output. However, traditional selection methods in classical MOEAs encounter difficulties when dealing with candidate solutions that possess irregular topologies. Although the distance-based subset selection methods are not sensitive to the topologies of the candidate points, they have significant room for reducing computational complexity. In order to address the above issues, a subspace selection method is proposed in this paper. It partitions the objective space into multiple subspaces that have comparable volumes and shapes. The maximal minimum distance of each solution is considered to ensure that the sparsest solution is always chosen first. To save computational costs, only the solutions in the neighboring subspaces are taken into account. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed subspace selection method outperforms classical selection methods in solving problems with various shapes of the Pareto front.
