Joint Secure and Covert Communications for Active STAR-RIS Assisted ISAC systems

This paper investigates the design of jointly supporting physical layer security (PLS) and covert communications (CCs) in an active simultaneously transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (a-STAR-RIS) assisted integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system. Due to the unified waveform design of ISAC signals, we consider a challenging scenario with two targets being suspicious attackers, where one warden target potentially detects the confidential transmission behavior of covert users and another eavesdropper target attempts to intercept the broadcasted confidential information of security users. We investigate the joint beamforming design at the base station (BS) and the a-STAR-RIS to achieve a high-quality sensing beampattern while meeting covertness and security communication requirements. (1) For the ideal scenario with perfect channel state information (CSI) and precise target locations, we propose an alternative optimization (AO) method to address the optimization problem involving highly coupled variables. Specifically, the optimal beamforming design at the BS is handled using the semi-definite relaxation (SDR) technique, while the beamforming design at the a-STAR-RIS is addressed through a penalty-based iterative algorithm. (2) A more practical case with uncertain target locations and imperfect CSI is considered to achieve a robust beamforming design, where the non-deterministic outage probability constraints are effectively transformed by employing the Bernstein-type inequality. Numerical results demonstrate the superiority of the a-STAR-RIS over the baseline cases and certify that the proposed algorithms can effectively balance the tradeoff among the sensing quality, covert and secure communication requirements. Besides, results also show that the proposed robust beamforming scheme can construct adequate sensing beampattern, even with imperfect CSI and uncertain target locations. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

This paper devotes to combine the chirp basis function transformation and symplectic coordinates transformation to yield a novel Wigner distribution (WD) associated with the linear canonical transform (LCT), named as the symplectic WD in the LCT domain (SWDL). It incorporates the merits of the symplectic WD (SWD) and the WD in the LCT domain (WDL), achieving stronger capability in the linear frequency-modulated (LFM) signal frequency rate feature extraction while maintaining the same level of computational complexity. Some essential properties of the SWDL are derived, including marginal distributions, energy conservations, unique reconstruction, Moyal formula, complex conjugate symmetry, time reversal symmetry, scaling property, time translation property, frequency modulation property, and time translation and frequency modulation property. Heisenberg’s uncertainty principles of the SWDL are formulated, giving rise to three kinds of lower bounds attainable respectively by Gaussian enveloped complex exponential signal, Gaussian signal and Gaussian enveloped chirp signal. The optimal symplectic matrices corresponding to the highest time-frequency resolution are generated by solving the lower bound optimization (minimization) problem. The time-frequency resolution of the SWDL is compared with those of the SWD and WDL to demonstrate its superiority in LFM signals time-frequency energy concentration. A synthesis example is also carried out to verify the feasibility and reliability of the theoretical analysis. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Comparisons of STRETCH meat grinders based on two different topologies of ICCOS

Inductive energy storage systems （IES）require opening switches which are technically much more difficult to realize than closing switches. Institute of Advanced technology （ IAT ） puts forward a meat grinder with an inductive pulse power topology called slow transfer of energy through capacitive hybrid （STRETCH）. In this topology, an integrated gate-commutated thyristor （IGCT） is capable of breaking the charging currents on the order of 4 kA, and it may encounter difficulties in expanding to higher energy systems. German-French Institute of Saint Louis （ISL） has developed a high-power opening switch based on standard high-power thyristors by using their so-called inverse current commutation with semiconductor devices （ICCOS） countercurrent commutation principle. Two topologies of the STRETCH meat grinder with ICCOS are analyzed. And they are compared based on the voltage across the main switch, the current multiplication factor and other aspects by u- sing Matlab simulations. The advantages and disadvantages of the two topologies are shown through the comparisons. Therefore a more suitable topology can be chosen for realistic applications accord- ing to their performances.

The concept of architecture is put forward by the US Army, which refers to the composition structure of the system and its mutual relationship, as well as the principles and guidelines guiding the design and development of the system. Architecture design technology and its reference resources have important theoretical and technical support for the top-level design of information system. Based on the analysis of architecture technology and function, this paper systematically studies the connotation and development history of the architecture design framework of the US army, and sorts out the main reference resources of the architecture design of the US army, such as the common joint task list, information system interoperability level model, joint technology architecture. It provides useful reference for the theoretical and technical research of information system top-level design. © 2021 ACM.

The classification and visualization for surface objects receives a great deal of attention for high spectral dimensional data processing. A lot of methods were proposed and applied in this problem over the past decade. Whereas most of them still exist some challenge issues, include pre-treatment fussily, features extraction simplify, larger data processing difficultly and classification inaccurately. To solve these problems, we propose a novel method bases on deep learning which combines maximum noise fraction (MNF) and multilayers auto-encoders. Thereinto, MNF is used to reduce the inherent spectral dimensionality of high spectral dimensional data;autoencoders and softmax logistic regression function are applied for extracting high-level features and visualizing types of objects. On the experiments, we compared with traditional linear SVM method by using a 200-bands AVIRIS dataset over Indian Pines and a 103-bands ROSIS dataset over Italy Pavia. The results indicate that the algorithm in paper statistically significantly improved the classification and visualization accuracies and efficiencies. © 2017 IEEE.

For the earth observation satellite mission planning problem, objectives such as observed target quantity, observation profit, energy consumption, image quality should be considered simultaneously, which is a many-objective optimization problem. Classical optimization-based mission planning algorithms obtain a set of non-dominated solutions in the entire search space, while only a single satisfy final plan is desired by decision maker. In this paper, a five-objective optimization model for satellite mission planning problem is constructed, then a region preference-based evolutionary algorithm, HMOEA-T, is applied to obtain the desired solutions. The decision makers describe the preference on each objective in target region form, then the algorithm guides a more detailed search within the preference region rather than the entire Pareto front. Comparative studies with preference-based methods (T-NSGA-III) and classical methods (NSGA-III) are conducted. We have exemplified the proposed method manage to obtain the solutions satisfying the mission planning preference and achieve better performance in convergence and diversity. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In this research, the problem of distributed opportunistic channel access is investigated under single-bit channel state information (CSI) feedback in ad hoc networks. In finding an optimal strategy achieving the maximum average system throughput, the optimal stopping approach is used, and an optimal strategy is proposed. In it, each winner source decides when to take transmission opportunity based on singe-bit feedback information. Moreover, an optimal quantization vector is also derived for the strategy. Interestingly, it is pure-threshold based, and the optimal quantization vector is fixed. All thresholds can be calculated off-line, and easy implementation is available. Through simulation, the effectiveness and efficiency of the optimal strategy are also verified. © 2021, ICST Institute for Computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Reinforcement Learning(RL) is the main cognition and decision method of Agent since its adaptation and exploration ability to the unknown environment, but it cannot ensure the convergence for the multi-Agent situation since the transition of the state space is not only influenced by the Agent itself but also influenced by the other Agent's action, so the other Agent's action has to be taken into account. In consideration of the deep theory foundation and advantages to deal with the other player's policy, this paper think that combination of the games theory and multi-Agent is a breakthrough for the cognition and decision in the status of the multi-Agent Learning. Based on the introduction of the traditional decision technology, the learning technology and the typical algorithm framework of the multi-Agent reinforcement learning with the games theory, some related algorithms such as MinMax-Q, nash-Q, FF-Q, CE-Q and Nego-Q were presented and analyzed. © 2017 Association for Computing Machinery.

With continuous growth in scale,topology complexity,mission phases,and mission diversity,challenges have been placed for efficient capability evaluation of modern combat *** at the problems of insufficient mission consideration and single evaluation dimension in the existing evaluation approaches,this study proposes a mission-oriented capability evaluation method for combat systems based on operation ***,a combat network model is given that takes into account the capability properties of combat ***,based on the transition matrix between combat nodes,an efficient algorithm for operation loop identification is proposed based on the Breadth-First *** the mission-capability satisfaction of nodes,the effectiveness evaluation indexes for operation loops and combat network are proposed,followed by node importance *** a case study of the combat scenario involving space-based support against surface ships under different strategies,the effectiveness of the proposed method is *** results indicated that the ROI-priority attack method has a notable impact on reducing the overall efficiency of the network,whereas the O-L betweenness-priority attack is more effective in obstructing the successful execution of enemy attack missions.

The continuous miniaturization of 2D electronic circuits results in increased power density during device operation, leading to heat localization and placing higher demands on their performance thresholds. The risk to thermal breakdown and subsequent damage, due to the energy dissipation in the 2D semiconductor field-effect transistors (FETs) supported on the bulk substrates, represents a significant challenge in maintaining their optimal performance. Herein, this study investigates energy dissipation behavior in multilayer PdSe2 FETs for the first time. The high-field breakdown behavior is firstly studied in multilayer PdSe2 FETs on SiO2/Si substrates, where a maximum current density of ≈2.74 MA cm−2 is observed, which is comparable to that of multilayer black phosphorus FET and significantly higher—by about five times—than that of multilayer MoS2 FET. Additionally, the thermal boundary conductance (TBC) of PdSe2/SiO2 interface is measured at room temperature using Raman thermometry. The TBC is found to be ≈12–13 MW m−2 K−1, which is relatively low compared to the other known solid–solid interfaces, indicating that enhancing the performance of PdSe2 FETs can be possible by optimizing the TBC at the PdSe2/SiO2 interface. These findings provide valuable insights for design of high-quality and high-performance PdSe2 electronic and optoelectronic devices. © 2025 Wiley-VCH GmbH.
