A dynamic planning method for satellite imaging mission based on improved genetic algorithm

The ongoing enhancement of imaging satellite platforms in terms of payload capacity, coupled with the proliferation of imaging satellites, introduces new complexities to the mission planning processes. These enhancements enable broader applications and significantly increase the societal benefits derived from imaging satellites. To address these challenges, a specific kinematic model for dynamic imaging attitudes is constructed, taking into account the dynamics of satellite imaging missions. This model uses information from satellite imaging observation tasks to design constraints that govern the planning of imaging tasks. Additionally, an optimization objective function is established to ensure compliance with these planning constraints. Building on the encoding method for relative imaging moments, an adaptive genetic algorithm tailored for satellite imaging task planning is introduced. This algorithm enhances the iterative efficiency of decision variables involved in satellite imaging tasks. Empirical validation through comparative simulation experiments, using a typical satellite imaging mission as a case study, demonstrates the effectiveness of the adaptive genetic algorithm. In various phases of imaging mission planning, the algorithm achieved a 100% task completion rate. The index function gain was enhanced by 21.47%, and the maximum synthetic angular velocity of attitude maneuvers between different targets peaked at the satellite's maneuvering threshold of 7 degrees per second. By leveraging adaptive genetic algorithms, satellite imaging mission planning can optimize mission completion rates and effectively utilize the satellite's maximum attitude maneuver capabilities. © 2024 Demin Zhao et al., published by Sciendo.

Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in comprehensively handling various types of natural language processing (NLP) tasks. However, there are significant differences in the knowledge and abilities required for different tasks. Therefore, it is important to understand whether the same LLM processes different tasks in the same way. Are there specific neurons in a LLM for different tasks? Inspired by neuroscience, this paper pioneers the exploration of whether distinct neurons are activated when a LLM handles different tasks. Compared with current research exploring the neurons of language and knowledge, task-specific neurons present a greater challenge due to their abstractness, diversity, and complexity. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a method for task-specific neuron localization based on Causal Gradient Variation with Special Tokens (CGVST). CGVST identifies task-specific neurons by concentrating on the most significant tokens during task processing, thereby eliminating redundant tokens and minimizing interference from non-essential neurons. Compared to traditional neuron localization methods, our approach can more effectively identify task-specific neurons. We conduct experiments across eight different public tasks. Experiments involving the inhibition and amplification of identified neurons demonstrate that our method can accurately locate task-specific neurons. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

In recent years, near surface ozone pollution, has attracted more and more attention,which necessitates the development of high efficient and low cost catalysts. In this work,Cu O/Cu_(2)O heterojunctioned catalyst is fabricated by heating Cu_(2)O at high temperature, and is adopted as ozone decomposition catalyst. The results show that after Cu_(2)O is heated at180℃conversion of ozone increases from 75.2% to 89.3% at mass space velocity 1,920,000cm^(3)/(g·hr) in dry air with 1000 ppm V ozone, which indicates that this heterojunction catalyst is one of the most efficient catalysts reported at present. Catalysts are characterized by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy,which confirmed that the heterojunction promotes the electron transfer in the catalytic process and creates more defects and oxygen vacancies in the Cu O/Cu_(2)O interfaces. This procedure of manufacturing heterostructures would also be applicable to other metal oxide catalysts, and it is expected to be more widely applied to the synthesis of high-efficiency heterostructured catalysts in the future.

Age-related cognitive decline presents a significant health challenge for older adults, with no specific medication available to counteract it. Early detection of cognitive decline is crucial for timely intervention and effective management. Sleep status plays a vital role in evaluating cognitive function, as disrupted sleep patterns are associated with cognitive decline and increased risk of neurodegenerative conditions. Existing methods for assessing sleep status, such as self-report questionnaires, actigraphy, and polysomnography, lack the ability to consistently monitor sleep status over a long period. In this paper we introduced SLEEPWISE, an AI-powered platform deployed in residential environments for continuous ambient sleep monitoring to assess the cognitive well-being of older adults. SLEEPWISE utilizes non-contact pads with highly sensitive piezoelectric sensors to monitor sleep parameters such as duration and efficiency, which are transmitted daily to the server. Moreover, we have also developed a gamified module for SLEEPWISE, allowing an objective assessment of daily cognitive functions. This module aids SLEEPWISE in establishing the correlation models between sleep and cognitive health. To evaluate the effectiveness of SLEEP-WISE, a pilot study was conducted with participants recruited from a local hospital. During the 30-days trials, SLEEPWISE identified a negative impact on congnitive performance associated with increased nocturnal body movements and getting out of bad. These findings emphasize the potential of SLEEPWISE as an early screening tool for evaluating daily cognitive health and well-being. © 2024 IEEE.

There are More Fish in the Sea: Automated Vulnerability Repair via Binary Templates

As software vulnerabilities increase in both volume and complexity, vendors often struggle to repair them promptly. Automated vulnerability repair has emerged as a promising solution to reduce the burden of manual debugging and fixing activities. However, existing techniques exclusively focus on repairing the vulnerabilities at the source code level, which has various limitations. For example, they are not applicable to those (e.g., users or security analysts) who do not have access to the source code. Consequently, this restricts the practical application of these techniques, especially in cases where vendors are unable to provide timely patches. In this paper, we aim to address the above limitations by performing vulnerability repair at binary code level, and accordingly propose a template-based automated vulnerability repair approach for Java binaries. Built on top of the literature, we collect fix templates from both existing template-based automated program repair approaches and vulnerability-specific analyses, which are then implemented for the Java binaries. Our systematic application of these templates effectively mitigates vulnerabilities: experiments on the Vul4J dataset demonstrate that TemVUR successfully repairs 11 vulnerabilities, marking a notable 57.1% improvement over current repair techniques. Moreover, TemVUR securely fixes 66.7% more vulnerabilities compared to leading techniques (15 vs. 9), underscoring its effectiveness in mitigating the risks posed by these vulnerabilities. To assess the generalizability of TemVUR, we curate the ManyVuls4J dataset, which goes beyond Vul4J to encompass a wider diversity of vulnerabilities. With 30% more vulnerabilities than its predecessor (increasing from 79 to 103), ManyVuls4J serves as a robust benchmark for evaluating the performance of TemVUR. The evaluation on ManyVuls4J reaffirms TemVUR’s effectiveness and generalizability across a diverse set of real-world vulnerabilities. Copyright © 2024, The Authors.

A multi-agent decision network based on QMIX is proposed in this paper to cope with the coordination decision problem of multiple UAV air combat missions. To speed up the training process, three improvements are introduced: 1) An improved $\epsilon$ -decaying method that enable some tutor to help in action selection at the early stage of the training. This measure greatly improves the exploring efficiency when the network are far from being fully trained; 2) State pruning and action mask measures are applied during the training. The former improves the effectiveness of the input state information, and the latter reduces unnecessary action exploring. 3) A gradually training configuration is used to make the training process more robust, where the combat adversaries are configured as the static targets, the randomly maneuver vehicles, and the Min-Max strategy vehicles respectively. The multi-UAV air combat scenarios are built up and the experiments are conducted. The results shows that these improvements have significantly improved training efficiency.

At present, most of the existing methods combine the data from different views mechanically to obtain the latent subspace with complementary information, which not only fails to make full use of the data information from specific perspectives but also brings redundancy. Therefore, we propose a novel multi-view subspace clustering method. It utilizes cycle projection to obtain a subspace construction model. At the same time, by learning the global structure and local manifold structure of this subspace while assigning learnable weights to different views, the consensus information among views and specific information from different views are captured according to the importance of different views. In this way, our method effectively reduces the original noise and redundancy, and further carries out the improvement of complementarity and consistency among views. The proposed method is optimized by using the Augmented Lagrangian Multiplier with Alternating Direction Minimization (ALM- ADM) algorithm. Experiment results on benchmark datasets confirm the effectiveness of our method.

On-road tailpipe ammonia (NH3) emissions contribute to urban secondary organic aerosol formation and have direct or indirect adverse impacts on the environment and human health. To understand the tailpipe NH3 emission characteristics, we performed comprehensive chassis dynamometer measurements of NH3 emission from two China 5 and two China 6 light-duty gasoline vehicles (LDGVs) equipped with three-way catalytic converters (TWCs). The results showed that the distance-based emission factors (EFs) were 12.72 ± 2.68 and 3.18 ± 1.37 mg/km for China 5 and China 6 LDGVs, respectively. Upgrades in emission standards were associated with a reduction in tailpipe NH3 emission. In addition, high NH3 EFs were observed during the engine warm-up period in cold-start cases owing to the intensive emissions of incomplete combustion products and suitable catalytic temperature in the TWCs. Notably, based on the instantaneous NH3 emission rate, distinct NH3–emitting events were detected under high/extra high velocity or rapid acceleration. Furthermore, NH3 emission rates correlated well with engine speed, vehicle specific power, and modified combustion efficiency, which were more easily accessible. These strong correlations were applied to reproduce NH3 emissions from China 5/6 LDGVs. The predicted NH3 EFs under different dynamometer and real-world cycles agreed well with existing measurement and prediction results, revealing that the NH3 EFs of LDGVs in urban routes were within 8.55–11.62 mg/km. The results presented here substantially contribute to improving the NH3 emission inventory for LDGVs and predicting on-road NH3 emissions in China.

Runtime verification (RV) is an effective lightweight formal method for improving software’s reliability at runtime. There exist no RV tools specially designed for C++ programs. This paper introduces the first one, i.e., CCMOP, which implements an AOP-based RV approach and supports the RV of general properties for C/C++ program. CCMOP provides an AOP language specially designed for C++ program to define the events in RV. The instrumentation of RV monitor is done at AST-level, which improves the efficiency of compilation and the accuracy of RV. CCMOP is implemented based on JavaMOP and an industrial-strength compiler. The results of extensive experiments on 100 real-world C/C++ programs (5584.3K LOCs in total) indicate that CCMOP is robust and supports the RV of real-world C/C++ programs. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
