Chaotification of rigid body motion is studied by (Chen and Lee, 2004) where three external torque sources are applied as the control inputs. Alternatively, the present paper is involved with this task using a variable speed control moment gyro (VSCMG), as an internal torque generator. Although a VSCMG provides only two control inputs, we show that the total fifth-order momentum conserving system could form a new chaotic model by a simple linear control law. In addition, the robustness of the generated chaos against feedback gains variation is numerically verified.

In wireless sensor networks, since the existing methods of dividing sensors based on the random deployment of nodes can not guarantee the optimal deployment to target coverage, a probabilistic disc model based optimal deterministic deployment scheme of sensor nodes was proposed. Firstly, probabilistic disc model was used to capture the stochastic nature of sensing. And, node sensing radius meeting to user needs was computed. Secondly, the candidate positions where nodes were placed to coverage target set were computed by using the concept of the most multi-overlapping domains of target point. Finally, known the candidate positions, by using simulated annealing genetic algorithm, the optimal positions and the least number of nodes to coverage target set were gained. simulation results show that the nodes optimal deployment method is obtained based on user needs. The optimal allocation of resources is realized in wireless sensor networks.

The AAAI-10 workshop program was held on July 11-12, 2010, at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta, Georgia. The workshop program included 13 workshops covering a wide range of topics in artificial intelligence. There were several presentations on particular formalisms for combining the levels of planning from the perspectives of classical planning, motion planning, POMDPs, search-based planning, and temporal logic-based constraints. Henry Lieberman from Massachusetts Institute of technology Media laboratory presented work developing a platform for knowledge acquisition and usage from expert users, built upon experience with eliciting information from nonexperts in a collaborative manner. The objective of the AAAI Workshop on Goal-Directed Autonomy (GDA) was to encourage discussion and novel contributions on intelligent agents that can self-select their goals. Jeremy Baxter from QinetiQ focused on user interaction, while Nick Hawes described a goal-directed reasoning framework for controlling a mobile robot.

This paper deals with the problem of adaptive robust control based on Lyapunov theory for uncertain feedback linearizable systems with matching uncertainties. The proposed method shows that the closed-loop system is globally asymptotically stable;and states of the system track the desired trajectories in a globally asymptotically manner. Since this approach is not concerned with any information about the bounds of uncertainties, the preliminary knowledge of the bounds of uncertainties is not nessary. Next, in order to prevent the switching phenomenon in the control signal, the method is modified such that the norm of tracking error will be Uniformly Ultimately Bounded. Numerical simulations on the hyperchaotic Rossler system with matching disturbance show fast responses in set-point tracking, while norm of the errors is certainly bounded and the control signal is reasonably smooth.

Linguistic dynamic systems (LDS) are the systems based on computing with words (CW) instead of computing with numbers or symbols. In this paper, LDS are divided into two types: type-I LDS being converted from conventional dynamical systems (CDS) by using extension principle and type-II LDS by using fuzzy logic rules. For type-I LDS, the method of endograph is provided to discuss the stabilities of type-I LDS and two cases of stabilities of logistic mappings: one is the states being abstracted and the other is parameters also being abstracted. For type-Ⅱ LDS, the method of degree of match is used to discuss the dynamical behavior of arbitrary initial words under fuzzy rule.

Effects of coal characteristics including rank, macerals, coal ash and ash content on combustion catalyzed by CeO2 were investigated using demineralized coals and coal ash. The results show that coal rank has remarkable effect on catalytic combustion. The higher the coal rank, the more decrease in ignition temperature of its demineralized coal. There is no obvious effect of CeO2 on combustion of Shenhua coal macerals. Coal ash has some catalytic effects on combustion coal organics. The catalytic effect of mixture of ash and CeO2 is more than that of ash or CeO2 independently, showing they have interactions for catalytic anthracite combustion. Effects of ash content on catalytic combustion were investigated by synthesized coal, indicating catalytic effect was the best with 6% ash content. When coal ash content is over 18%, CeO2 has some inhibiting effects on anthracite combustion. CeO2 only has catalytic effect on combustion of higher rank coal with lower inorganic content.

In this paper we investigate the perturbations from a kind of quartic Hamiltonians under general cubic polynomials. It is proved that the number of isolated zeros of the related abelian integrals around only one center is not more than 12 except the case of global center. It is also proved that there exists a cubic polynomial such that the disturbed vector field has at least 3 limit cycles while the corresponding vector field without perturbations belongs to the saddle loop case.

In this paper, we implement the first realization of a reconfigurable chaotic based logic block that can morph between all two input, one output logic functions. This logic block is constructed based on a discrete time chaotic circuit known as Logistic Map and can directly emulate operation of all two input, one output combinational functions. We have derived instruction set table of this logic block that can be used as a look up table to generate different logic functions. Furthermore, we propose a method to enhance robustness of the constructed logic block with respect to environmental noise. Constructed logic block provides opportunities and possibilities to construct more efficient and higher order reconfigurable logic blocks.
