Bioluminescence tomography (BLT) is a novel in vivo technique in small animal studies, which can reveal the molecular and cellular information at the whole-body small animal level. At present, there is an increasing interest in multispectral bioluminescence tomography, since multispectral data acquisition could improve the BLT performance significantly. In view to the ill-posedness of BLT problem, we develop an optimal permissible source region strategy to constrain the possible solution of the source by utilizing spectrum character of bioluminescent source. Then a linear system to link the measured data with the unknown light source variables is established by utilizing the optimal permissible region strategy based on adaptive finite element analysis. Furthermore, singular value decomposition analysis is used for data dimensionality reduction and improving computational efficiency in multispectral case. The reconstructed speed and stability benefit from adaptive finite element, the permissible region strategy and singular value decomposition. In the numerical simulation, the heterogeneous phantom experiment has been used to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm with the Monte Carlo based synthetic data. The reconstruction results demonstrate the merits and potential of our methodology for localizing bioluminescent source. © 2009 SPIE.

As a promising optical molecular imaging modality, bioluminescence tomography (BLT) has attracted remarkable attention for its excellent performance and high cost-effectiveness, which can be employed to speciffically and directly reveal physiological and pathological activities in vivo at molecular and cellular levels. The goal of BLT is to reconstruct the internal bioluminescent light source with surface measurements. Therefore, the calculation of surface light exitance plays an important role in the inverse source reconstruction, whereas photon propagation is complicated because of strongly scattering property of the biological tissue. In this contribution, a novel meshless local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method based on diffusion approximation model is developed to avoid the complex and time-consuming mesh division in the conventional finite element method (FEM), and MLPG requires only a series of discretized nodes without consideration of element information and node connectivity. Compared with other meshless methods based on global weak-form, background cells used for Gauss quadrature are also omitted in the proposed method. In addition, the tissue optical parameters are incorporated as a priori knowledge in this algorithm. Finally, the performance of this method is valuated using two- and three-dimensional numerical simulation experiments. The results demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the presented algorithm to predict boundary bioluminescent light power distribution. © 2009 SPIE.

In this paper, the problem of the stability for a class of stochastic systems with time-varying delay is investigated. By dividing the delay interval into multiple segments and choosing different weighting matrices in the new LyapunovKrasovskii functional, the delay-dependent sufficient criterion is derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). Neither model transformations nor bounding techniques for cross terms is employed, so the derived criterion is less conservative than the most existing results. Meanwhile, the computational complexity of the obtained stability conditions is reduced because less variables are involved. A numerical example is given to show the application of the proposed method.

A robust method is presented for features extraction based on structured light images of lap weld Joint. On the basis of image processing such as smoothing, adaptive thresholding and thinning, two steps are taken to extract the features of the images. First, the position of the features is located roughly by dividing the centerline into segments and the intercept and slope of each segment obtained using least-squares WT approximation; afterwards, the range of feature points can be detected by comparing intercepts between segments. Then image features are extracted precisely via the intersections of three straight lines fitted by least square. Experimental results verified the proposed algorithms.

This paper presents a novel kernel density estimation approach to vehicle trajectory learning and motion analysis. The framework comprises a training stage and a testing stage. In the training stage, vehicle trajectories are first clustered by the hierarchical spectral clustering method. Then, through the proposed kernel density estimation approach, the average kernel density of one point on a trajectory can be estimated. In the testing stage, the compactness estimated by a Gaussian kernel function is introduced. Abnormal trajectories are detected with compactness lower than expected for a few consecutive frames. Vehicle motions are identified into multiple activities with their respective trajectory compactness.

The crevice corrosion of the Ni/Graphite abradable sealing coating with open porous for engine of aircrafts will happen,when it serves in marine environment.A simulated occluded corrosion cell was used to study chemical changes of Ni/Graphite coating in ***% NaCl solution at 35℃.The corrosion behaviors of Ni in simulated solution was investigated by potentialdynamic polarization test.X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to study the corrosion *** results showed that as the anodic current passes through the cell,the pH value of occluded solution decreased and the Cl- migrates into the occluded cell,meanwhile the Ni2+ and Na+ migrates out the occluded *** Cl- concentration in the occluded cell increased and Ni(OH)2· XH2O generated outside the occluded *** curves showed that the corrosion potential Ecorr of Ni decreased when the pH decreased and the Cl- enriched.

Shape context algorithm is a recently proposed good method for object recognition. It is robust under small geometrical distortions and occlusion, invariant under scaling, translation, and change of illumination. However, because of its computational complexity, this algorithm is not suitable for online recognition. In this paper, we proposed an improved shape context algorithm which introduces an optimal hierarchical structure and gives new reference points selection criteria. Compared with the original shape context algorithm, the improved algorithm keeps the recognition accuracy and reduces the computational cost greatly. The good experimental results reveal that, this new algorithm can be applied to the pedestrian detection system online, which is an important research topic in intelligent transportation.

This paper is motivated to utilize results from opinion mining to facilitate social network analysis. We introduce the concept of opinion networks and propose a PageRank-like algorithm, named OpinionRank, to rank the nodes in an opinion network. This proposed approach has been applied to real-world datasets and initial experiments indicate that the sentiment information is helpful for finding leaders of online communities and that the OpinionRank method outperforms benchmark methods that ignore sentiment information.

In this paper, the problem of fault detection is addressed for networked control systems (NCSs) subject to both access constraints and random packet dropout, which to the best of our knowledge has not been considered before. Both residual generation and residual evaluation as well as false alarm computation of the designated threshold are given. First, based on a deterministic formulation, residual generation is carried out in the periodic system framework. Then, residual evaluation is achieved by making full use of the stochastic properties of the random packet dropout. Finally, performance evaluation of the designated threshold, i.e., the computation of false alarm rate, is fulfilled with the assistance of Chebyshev s inequality. simulation results are given to illustrate effectiveness of the proposed method.
