Parallax-tolerant unmanned aerial vehicle remote sensing image stitching based on optimal seams

Low-altitude remote sensing technology using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has gained wide application. However, compared with satellites, UAVs have a smaller field of view and require image-stitching techniques. Existing stitching algorithms are generally only effective when processing images collected by drones at fixed positions but have poor performance on images collected by drones at different locations. This poses challenges in stitching due to large parallax caused by the movement of foreground objects, resulting in issues such as ghosts and misalignment. To address this, an algorithm based on deep features and optimal seams is proposed for large-parallax UAV remote sensing image stitching. In image registration, the algorithm uses LightGlue to implement feature point extraction and matching. On the basis of accurate image registration, image pre-alignment is achieved using a homography matrix. We construct an energy function using color and structural features and then use dynamic programming to search for the optimal seam in the overlapping area that minimizes the energy function. Finally, we achieve stitching based on the optimal seam. In terms of evaluation metrics, in addition to peak signal-to-noise ratio and structural similarity index measure, we introduce an evaluation metric based on pixel patches for seams, making the quantitative evaluation more objective. © 2025 SPIE and IS&T.

Effectively reconstructing 3D hyperspectral images (HSIs) from 2D measurements presents a significant challenge in Coded Aperture Snapshot Spectral Imaging (CASSI) systems. While recent transformers exhibit potential in HSI reconstruction, they often suffer from inadequate exploration of multi-scale spatial-spectral self-similarity, leading to mean effects and information loss. Additionally, these methods struggle with insufficient modeling of the degradation inherent in the compressive imaging process. To address these issues, we propose a novel Mask-guided Multi-scale Spatial-Spectral Transformer (MMSST). Specifically, we introduce a Degradation Aware Mask Attention (DAMA) module to incorporate degradation information of the compressive imaging process. Furthermore, MMSST leverages Local-Regional SpAtial attention (LRSA) and Global-Regional SpEctral attention (GRSE) to effectively exploit multi-scale self-similarity across spatial and spectral dimensions. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our MMSST.

As a key space structure in geostationary orbit, 100-meter level large ring-column antenna satellite is tasked with providing high-speed information transmission and stable communication Service in this orbit. This requires satellites having precise orbit maintenance and attitude control capabilities. Due to such satellites typically having larger masses and special structural designs, here, the high-precision orbit prediction algorithm was used to finely model and analyze effects of key space environmental factors of solar pressure, non-spherical perturbations and 3-body gravity on space Operation of such spacecrafts. Furthermore, referring to the design concept of formation-flying gravity field measurement satellites, a distributed füll thrust control strategy based on thruster layout optimization for such spacecrafts was proposed. Then, an improved explicit model predictive control algorithm was proposed based on Laguerre function to convert device capability limitations and Performance requirements into input-output constraints, combine multi-parameter programming, and realize attitude-orbit integrated control of such satellites. The simulation results showed that during stable Operation, position maintenance errors of such satellites can be controlled within a meter-level ränge, and attitude angle errors are better than 0. 03°;the computational efficiency of the proposed control algorithm is significantly higher than that of the Standard model predictive control algorithm and Laguerre function-based model predictive control algorithm;the hardware memory occupied is much lower than that of the explicit model predictive control *** theoretical analysis and numerical verification, it was shown that this study can provide an effective solving scheme for füll thruster integrated control of large ring-column antenna satellites in oomplex space environment using onboard Computers with limited Computing power. © 2025 Chinese Vibration Engineering Society.

Efficient Semantic Splatting for Remote Sensing Multiview Segmentation

Remote sensing multiview image segmentation is essential for achieving accurate and consistent stereoscopic perception of target scenes. This task involves processing RGB images from multiple viewpoints to generate high-accuracy, view-consistent semantic segmentation across all views. Traditional training-based methods struggle with maintaining cross-view consistency, while optimization-driven approaches using implicit neural networks improve view consistency but suffer from slow parameter optimization and inference. To overcome these limitations, we propose a novel Gaussian splatting-based semantic segmentation framework. Our method efficiently projects the color attributes and semantic features of 3-D Gaussians onto the image plane, enabling the simultaneous generation of both RGB images and segmentation outputs. By leveraging explicit spatial structures and a splatting rendering strategy, our approach significantly enhances optimization efficiency and rendering speed. In addition, we incorporate SAM2 to generate pseudo-labels for boundary regions, addressing the lack of supervision in sparsely labeled views (e.g., 3%). To further enforce cross-view consistency and feature coherence of 3-D Gaussians, we introduce a two-level aggregation loss that operates at both the 2-D feature map and 3-D spatial levels. Extensive experiments across nine datasets demonstrate the superiority of our method, achieving competitive segmentation quality with limited supervisory views. Notably, our approach reduces rendering (inference) times by 90%, while improving the average mean intersection over union (mIoU) by up to 3.5%. © 1980-2012 IEEE.

Odd-even effect of the mosaic modulation period of quasiperiodic hopping on the Anderson localization in a one-dimensional lattice model

In this study, we investigate Anderson localization in a one-dimensional lattice with mosaic off-diagonal quasiperiodic hopping. Our findings reveal that the localization behavior of zero-energy states is highly dependent on the parity of the mosaic modulation period, denoted as κ. Specifically, when κ is an odd integer, there is no Anderson localization transition even for large quasiperiodic hopping strengths, and the zero-energy state remains in a critical state. On the other hand, for an even κ and generic quasiperiodic hopping, the zero-energy state becomes a localized edge state at either the left or right end of the system. Additionally, we observe that the geometric mean value of the energy spectrum is equal to the constant hopping for an even κ, while for an odd κ, it is equal to the geometric mean value of the hopping. This odd-even effect of the mosaic period also extends to other eigenstates near zero energy. More specifically, for an odd κ, an energy window in which the eigenstates remain critical even for strong quasiperiodic hopping exists. In contrast, for an even κ, an Anderson localization transition occurs as the hopping strength increases. Furthermore, we are able to accurately determine the Lyapunov exponent γ(E) and the mobility edges Ec. By analyzing the Lyapunov exponent, we identify critical regions in the hopping-energy parameter planes. Additionally, as the energy approaches the mobility edges, we observe a critical index of the localization length of ν=1. Finally, we demonstrate that different systems can be characterized by their Lyapunov exponent γ(E) and Avila's acceleration ω(E).

Pristine two-dimensional (2D) materials have a multitude of interesting properties, promising a broad spectrum of applications. However, their poor affinity for common solvents and tendency to aggregate impede their effective exfoliation and solution-processing into various structures, such as fibers and membranes, thus limiting their practical use. We report a high-efficiency method for producing pristine 2D nanosheets by direct high-speed shearing exfoliation in trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (TfOH). Typically, this method produces hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets (BNNSs) with an unprecedented throughput of 38.8 mg mL-1h−1. The effective exfoliation is attributed to the strong binding affinity, large dipole moment and steric repulsion of TfOH, which collectively introduce layer edge distortion in hexagonal boron nitride (hBN), facilitating its exfoliation. The mechanical exfoliation and reversible edge interaction introduce no additional functional groups to the exfoliated BNNSs. The resulting pristine BNNS exhibit remarkable stability in TfOH solutions at ultrahigh concentrations of 200 mg mL−1 for over 28 days. The viscosity of the highly concentrated BNNS/TfOH dispersion can be adjusted, enabling techniques to produce BNNS-based spheres, fibers, and membranes with high thermal conductivity and mechanical strength, suitable for advanced thermal management applications. Room temperature processed BNNS-based spheres exhibit superior thermal conductivity compared to high temperature processed commercially available hBN or Al2O3 spheres. Moreover, TfOH can also be used to assist the efficient production and solution-processing of other 2D nanosheets, including graphene, molybdenum disulfide and tungsten disulfide, enabling the fabrication of high-quality bulk assemblies. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

Unraveling tensor structures in correct-by-design controller synthesis

Formal safety guarantees on the synthesis of controllers for stochastic systems can be obtained using correct-by-design approaches. These approaches often use abstractions as finite-state Markov Decision Processes (MDPs). As the state space of these MDPs grows, the curse of dimensionality makes the computational and memory cost of the probabilistic guarantees, quantified with dynamic programming, scale exponentially. In this work, we leverage decoupled dynamics and unravel, via dynamic programming operations, a tree structure in the Canonical Polyadic Decomposition (CPD) of the value functions. For discrete-time stochastic systems with syntactically co-safe linear temporal logic (scLTL) specifications, we provide provable probabilistic safety guarantees and significantly alleviate the computational burden. We provide numerical studies and validations of the theoretical results on several typical case studies and showcase that the uncovered tree structure enables efficient reductions in the computational burden. Distributed Framework Construction for Affine Formation Control

In affine formation control problems, the construction of the framework with universal rigidity and affine localizability is a critical prerequisite, but it has not yet been well addressed, especially when additional agents join the formation or link/agent failures emerge. Motivated by this observation, we investigate the problem of constructing affine formation frameworks in three scenarios, including vertex addition, edge deletion and vertex deletion. Our approach starts from the original affine formation and uses geometric methods to locally adjust the structure of the weighted graph to describe the topology, so that the modified framework maintains the universal rigidity and affine localizability. Notably, the developed strategies only utilize local measurements and exhibit distributed characteristics, laying the foundation for applications in multi-agent systems. To demonstrate the compatibility with affine formation control proposals, we present a case study on affine formation tracking in a multi-UAV formation, demonstrating the effectiveness of our algorithms in constructing eligible frameworks in aforementioned scenarios. Moreover, a comparative simulations is also conducted to highlight the low time complexity of our distributed algorithm relative to the centralized optimization-based method. Turntable servo systems are important experimental devices utilized in the semi-physical simulation and testing of aircraft. Building a model for turntable servo systems, which can accurately predict their operating states or behaviors, is important for the development and debugging of the whole servo control system. However, servo systems usually have complex nonlinear characteristics and external disturbances, which brings challenges to the accurate modeling of them. Therefore, this paper develops a modeling method for turntable servo systems by using CNN-GRU-Attention hybrid neural network models. The CNN-GRU-Attention model is used for compensating the nonlinear terms of the known dynamics model, thus effectively improving the modeling accuracy. Considering the complex architectures of the above hybrid model, an evolutionary neural architecture search (ENAS) algorithm is proposed accordingly, which can automatically design the architecture of the CNN-GRU-Attention models. During the designing process, a variable-length encoding strategy is proposed to represent the possible architectures, and novel crossover and mutation operators are proposed accordingly for the evolution of individuals. In addition, the real-time constraints are considered in the design of the search space, so that all the searched models can meet the real-time requirements. The experimental results show the CNN-GRU-Attention models obtained by the proposed ENAS algorithm achieve superior prediction performance over the peer competitors in most tasks. The effectiveness of the proposed method is further verified by analyzing the convergence and the search results. © 2025
