Controlling second-order rogue matter wave and line bright soliton dynamics in 2D Bose-Einstein Condensate with higher-order interactions and gain/loss atoms

We investigate the two-dimensional modified Gross-Pitaevskii equation, accounting for the effects of atom gain/loss and a time-independent isotropic confining potential, utilizing the Hirota’s bilinear method. Through an appropriate bilinear form, we derive exact one-soliton and multi-soliton solutions. These solutions showcase two prominent phenomena: the second-order rogue matter wave with spatio-temporal localization, and the line soliton with double spatial localization. We demonstrate the feasibility of controlling the soliton amplitude and the effects of gain/loss resulting in areas of collapse by suitably tuning the coefficient of higher-order interactions in the Bose-Einstein condensate. Additionally, by exploring the interaction dynamics of the multi-soliton solutions, we identify elastic-type interactions, claiming the intrinsic properties of solitons. The influence of higher-order interactions and gain/loss terms on the interaction dynamics is also thoroughly analyzed. These analyses demonstrate that, within the framework of Bose-Einstein condensates described by the two-dimensional modified Gross-Pitaevskii equation, higher-order interactions provide a means to control the properties of the generated rogue matter waves. Intensive numerical simulations are performed and their convergence with theoretical predicted results then throw light about the emergent features of the chosen solutions. The exact analytical solutions derived in this study rigorously satisfy the original equation, which ensures their consistency with the numerical results and confirms their accuracy. Application Specified Soft-Error Failure Rate Analysis Using Sequential Equivalence Checking Techniques

Soft errors have become a critical challenge as a result of technology scaling. Existing circuit-hardening techniques are commonly associated with prohibitive overhead of performance, area, and power. However,evaluating the influence of soft errors in Flip-Flops(FFs) on the failure of circuit is a difficult verification ***, we proposed a novel flip-flop soft-error failure rate analysis methodology using a formal method with respect to application behaviors. Approach and optimization techniques to implement the proposed methodology based on the given formula using Sequential Equivalence Checking(SEC) are introduced. The proposed method combines the advantage of formal technique-based approaches in completeness and the advantage of application behaviors in accuracy to differentiate vulnerability of components. As a result, the FFs in a circuit are sorted by their failure rates, and designers can use this information to perform optimal hardening of selected sequential components against soft errors. Experimental results of an implementation of a SpaceWire end node and the largest ISCAS’89 benchmark sequential circuits indicate the feasibility and potential scalability of our approach. A case study on an instruction decoder of a practical 32-bit microprocessor demonstrates the applicability of our method.

Data-Driven Learning and Control with Event-Triggered Measurements

Event-triggered control has attracted considerable attention for its effectiveness in resource-restricted applications. To make event-triggered control as an end-to-end solution, a key issue is how to effectively learn unknown system dynamics from event-triggered measurements and consequently, develop a learning-based event-triggered controller. Existing works learn system dynamics based on periodic time-triggered measurements, and it is yet to know how to learn a controller with performance guarantee based on event-triggered measurements. To address this issue, we consider the problem of learning an event-triggered state feedback controller for an unknown linear system based on event-triggered state measurements in this work. In particular, we first analyze the event-triggered measurements within a set-membership framework. We prove that the estimation error belongs to a bounded ellipsoid determined by the historical measurements and the event-triggering condition. Subsequently, we demonstrate that all admissible systems compatible with the collected data samples can be explicitly represented in the form of quadratic matrix inequalities using the state estimates. With the acquired set of admissible systems, a co-design problem for the data-driven controller and event-triggering condition is solved using the linear matrix inequality technique, with guaranteed closed-loop stability and L2-gain performance. Finally, numerical examples and comparisons are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed event-triggered learning and control approach. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Influencing Factors and Identifying Precursors in Phenolic Compounds Formation from Tobacco Extracts Pyrolysis

Tobacco extracts is one of the important flavors used in tobacco products, however, some toxic phenolic compounds (phenol, o-Cresol, p-Cresol, catechol, and hydroquinone) formed during pyrolysis. In this study, the effects of temperature, heating rate, carrier gas atmosphere, and potassium salts on the formation of phenolic compounds by the pyrolysis of tobacco extracts were investigated quantitatively. The characteristics of phenols formation by five phenol-producing precursors (chlorogenic acid, protein, rutin, glucose, and fructose) were further studied. The results showed that with increasing temperature (300~500 °C), the phenols yields first increased and then decreased, reaching the maximum at about 450 °C. The yields of phenol and catechol can be significantly decreased by air atmosphere, lower heating rate, and addition of potassium acetate. It was further proved that chlorogenic acid, protein, and rutin are important precursors of phenolic compounds and chlorogenic acid had the highest phenol yield of 18178.52 μg/g. Moreover, combined with the content of each precursor in the extracts, it was calculated that 83.6% of the phenol formed at 350 °C came from protein and chlorogenic acid, with chlorogenic acid contributing 41.52%. Adding potassium acetate decreased the generation of phenol and catechol by inhibiting the formation of phenol and catechol by chlorogenic acid, but promoted the formation of cresols by these precursors during the pyrolysis process. © 2024, The Authors. This paper studies the algorithm design of variance-constrained $H_{\infty}$ state estimation problem for delayed memristive neural networks with adaptive event-triggered mechanism. The denial-of-service attacks are modeled by a series of random variables obeying the Bernoulli distribution with known probability. In addition, the adaptive event-triggered mechanism is introduced into the sensor-to-estimator to avoid unnecessary resource consumption. Our purpose is to construct a finite-horizon state estimation algorithm, and sufficient condition is obtained for the estimation error system satisfying the $H_{\infty}$ performance requirement and the error variance boundedness. Finally, a numerical example is used to illustrate the feasibility of the presented $H_{\infty}$ state estimation algorithm.

Refining Image Edge Detection via Linear Canonical Riesz Transforms

Combining the linear canonical transform and the Riesz transform, we introduce the linear canonical Riesz transform (for short, LCRT), which is further proved to be a linear canonical multiplier. Using this LCRT multiplier, we conduct numerical simulations on images. Notably, the LCRT multiplier significantly reduces the complexity of the algorithm. Based on these we introduce the new concept of the sharpness REsc of the edge strength and continuity of images associated with the LCRT and, using it, we propose a new LCRT image edge detection method (for short, LCRT-IED method) and provide its mathematical foundation. Our experiments indicate that this sharpness REsc characterizes the macroscopic trend of edge variations of the image under consideration, while this new LCRT-IED method not only controls the overall edge strength and continuity of the image, but also excels in feature extraction in some local regions. These highlight the fundamental differences between the LCRT and the Riesz transform, which are precisely due to the multiparameter of the former. A Cyclic Small Phase Theorem

This paper introduces a brand-new phase definition called the segmental phase for multi-input multi-output linear time-invariant systems. The underpinning of the definition lies in the matrix segmental phase which, as its name implies, is graphically based on the smallest circular segment covering the matrix normalized numerical range in the unit disk. The matrix segmental phase has the crucial product eigen-phase bound, which makes itself stand out from several existing phase notions in the literature. The proposed bound paves the way for stability analysis of a cyclic feedback system consisting of multiple subsystems. A cyclic small phase theorem is then established as our main result, which requires the loop system phase to lie between −π and π. The proposed theorem complements a cyclic version of the celebrated small gain theorem. In addition, a generalization of the proposed theorem is made via the use of angular scaling techniques for reducing conservatism. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Light-responsive liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) are promising for soft robot actuators due to their ability to respond to light stimuli and produce deformation. In order to realize their application in soft robots, fast and accurate position control is essential. Based on the intrinsic physical nature of LCE actuator's deformation, a terminal sliding mode controller (TSMC) is designed to efficiently adjust the temperature of the actuator, thus directly controlling the actuator deformation. In order to achieve the target temperature, a prediction model is established to predict the target temperature corresponding to the target displacement. Moreover, a proportional integration controller is applied to eliminate model errors and disturbances. The feasibility of the control strategy is experimentally verified, and compared with conventional PID controller. The results prove that the proposed control strategy can achieve fast and accurate control of displacement.

The daily regional reanalysis product of the China Ocean Reanalysis(CORA)product was released in website in *** in situ observational data including Argo profiling floats,drifters,and cruise data,the performance of CORA in the South China Sea in terms of temperature,salinity,current and mixed layer depths is evaluated based on timescale(seasonal and interannual)and spatial distribution *** CORA temperature,salinity,and mixed layer depth show certain seasonal and interannual *** 50-400 m depth in the SCS,the CORA temperature is colder in winter and warmer in summer and *** 0-150 m in the SCS,the CORA salinity is higher in most time of the ***,in the second half of the year,the salinity is slightly weaker in 100-150 m *** most years,the CORA mixed layer depths tend to be shallower,and in season,shallower in winter and deeper in *** spatial distribution,the closer the area is to the coast,the greater the CORA errors would *** CORA temperature is colder in the western side and warmer in the eastern side,resulting in a weaker SCS western boundary current(SCSwbc).In most areas,the CORA mixed layer depths are *** the area close to the coast,the CORA mixed layer depths change rapidly,and the deviations in the mixed layer depths are *** the central SCS,the CORA mixed layer depths change slowly,and the deviations in the mixed layer depths are also small.
