The very existence of smart cities forms the stepping stone in the evolution of many technological advancements in the future era. While smart cities have already grown in their way, the tremendous amount of data generated from them paves the way for new perspectives of development. This is because security and privacy remain to be the major constraint across smart city applications. Further, smart city applications such as smart homes, smart transportation, and smart healthcare are generating a huge amount of data every day and it is often complex to collect and manage all the data together at a single location. To address these constraints, this paper presents a novel and innovative blockchain-assisted federated learning approach for secure data sharing in IoT Smart Cities. Here, we implement a federated learning approach, where the process of learning is made in a distributed fashion. The use of blockchain in turn adds more security and resilience to smart city applications. The security analysis proves that the proposed approach offers comparatively better performance and remains more resistant to various security threats and vulnerabilities. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Symmetries are ubiquitous in condensed matter physics, playing an important role in the appearance of different phases of matter. Nonlinear light matter interactions serve as a coherent probe for resolving symmetries and symmetry breaking via their link to selection rules of the interaction. In the extreme nonlinear regime, high harmonic generation (HHG) spectroscopy offers a unique spectroscopic approach to study this link, probing the crystal spatial properties with high sensitivity while opening new paths for selection rules in the XUV regime. In this Letter we establish an advanced HHG polarimetry scheme, driven by a multicolor strong laser field, to observe the structural symmetries of solids and their interplay with the HHG selection rules. By controlling the crystal symmetries, we resolve nontrivial polarization states associated with new spectral features in the HHG spectrum. Our scheme opens new opportunities in resolving the symmetries of quantum materials, as well as ultrafast light driven symmetries in condensed matter systems.

The construction of core-shell structures derived from metal-organic framework (MOF) precursors is considered as a promising strategy for promoting photocatalytic CO2 reduction. Herein, a core double-shell structure catalyst (FeSx@ZnS@CoSx) has been rationally fabricated by ternary MOF-on-MOF synthetic strategies combined with subsequent sulfidation treatments. The obtained FeSx@ZnS@CoSx exhibited appealing activity for photocatalytic CO2 conversion with H2O vapor, affording a high CO generation rate of 69.90 μmol g−1 h−1 and CH4 generation rate of 2.01 μmol g−1 h−1. The outstanding performances could benefit from the distinctive core double-shell structure, which effectively formed dual type II charge transfer channels to improve the separation and migration of photogenerated carriers. Besides, the superstructure of CoSx species can provide abundant active sites to increase CO2 adsorption and meanwhile enhance the absorption spectrum in the visible light region, facilitating the CO2 conversion. The possible reduction pathways and key reaction intermediates were revealed by in situ DRIFTS results. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The surge in urban population density in China has underscored the vital role of high-speed rail and subway systems in urban transit. Comprehensive transportation hubs, notably high-speed rail passenger terminals, have emerged as linchpins for seamless multimodal transit both within and beyond urban centers. China's railway sector vigorously champions the innovative concept of "station-city integration" and has articulated a forward-looking "16-word policy" for modern railway stations: "Seamless integration, environmental friendliness, economic viability, and intelligent accessibility". The judicious allocation of resources and the augmentation of coordination and control capabilities within comprehensive transportation hubs are imperative for the harmonious evolution of urban transit. The implementation of intelligent control systems for transportation hubs has emerged as a pivotal area of research. This study delves into the framework and critical technologies for high-speed railway comprehensive transport hubs, encompassing various components and their intricate interplay, including transport modalities, infrastructure, travelers, environmental factors, and information systems, thus forming a prototypical cyber-physical-social system. Addressing the prevalent and pressing imperative for the advancement of "station-city integration" high-speed railway comprehensive transport hubs, this research endeavor aims to surmount bottleneck challenges and refine the oversight of passenger flows at high-speed rail terminals. The findings hold noteworthy theoretical import and portend promising practical applications.

This study aimed to investigate the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms of the traditional Chinese medicine compound San-Huang-San (SHS) on common carp infected with Aeromonas sobria. In this study, 22 major compounds in SHS were first detected using the UPLC–MS/MS method. Feeding experiments showed that SHS enhanced the intestinal barrier function, restoring the villus length and the number of inflammatory cells in infected fish to levels equivalent to those in the control. SHS significantly increased the abundance of the beneficial bacteria Cetobacterium, thereby improving the intestinal barrier. Compared with the INF group, the SHS group presented increased levels of catalase, lysozyme, superoxide dismutase, total antioxidant capacity, and glutathione peroxidase in the serum and intestines and decreased levels of malondialdehyde. RT–PCR revealed that SHS reduced the expression of intestinal proinflammatory factors and increased the expression of anti-inflammatory factors. SHS reduced the oxidative stress level in the head kidneys and maintained an intact tissue structure. Network pharmacology showed that quercetin, kaempferol, and emodin may be the main active compounds of SHS, while Bcl2 and Casp3 are core target proteins. SHS significantly affected the expression of bcl2 and casp3 in the fish intestine. Three compound components were quantitatively detected, and their binding to key proteins was confirmed by molecular docking and kinetic simulation. In summary, we explored the preventive effect and anti-inflammatory mechanism of SHS on common carp enteritis, providing a theoretical basis for further research on the rationality of using herbal medicines to replace feed antibiotics. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

In robot grasp and dexterous manipulation tasks, tactile sensing is important for the control adjustment of the manipulator. In this paper, we present a novel low-cost parallel gripper with high-resolution tactile sensing, named the GelStereo Gripper. Furthermore, an adaptive grasp strategy is proposed to endow the gripper with tactile-feedback grasp stability-maintaining ability. We install the gripper on our robot platform and conduct various grasp experiments by utilizing proposed control methods. Experimental results verify the reliability of the GelStereo gripper and also prove the effectiveness of the proposed strategy for experimental objects with different features. © 2022 IEEE.

Data-based detection and quantification of causation in complex,nonlinear dynamical systems is of paramount importance to science,engineering,and *** by the widely used methodology in recent years,the cross-map-based techniques,we develop a general framework to advance towards a comprehensive understanding of dynamical causal mechanisms,which is consistent with the natural interpretation of *** particular,instead of measuring the smoothness of the cross-map as conventionally implemented,we define causation through measuring the scaling law for the continuity of the investigated dynamical system *** uncovered scaling law enables accurate,reliable,and eficient detection of causation and assessment of its strength in general complex dynamical systems,outperforming those existing representative *** continuity scaling-based framework is rigorously established and demonstrated using datasets from model complex systems and the real world.

This paper presents a deep reflection on the advective wave equations for velocity vector and dilatation discovered in the past *** show that these equations can form the theoretical basis of modern gas dynamics,because they dominate not only various complex viscous and heat-conducting gas flows but also their associated longitudinal waves,including aero-generated *** aeroacoustics theory has been developing in a manner quite independently of gas dynamics;it is based on the advective wave equations for thermodynamic variables,say the exact Phillips equation of relative disturbance pressure as a representative ***,these equations do not cover the fluid flow that generates and propagates sound *** using them,one has to assume simplified base-flow models,which we argue is the main theoretical obstacle to identifying sound source and achieving effective noise ***,we show that the Phillips equation and alike is nothing but the first integral of the dilatation equation that also governs the longitudinal part of the flow ***,we conclude that modern aeroacoustics should merge back into the general unsteady gas dynamics as a special branch of it,with dilatation of multiple sources being a new additional and sharper sound variable.

Cooperative Filtering with Range Measurements: A Distributed Constrained Zonotopic Method

This article studies the distributed estimation problem of a multi-agent system with bounded absolute and relative range measurements. Parts of the agents are with high-accuracy absolute measurements, which are considered as anchors;the other agents utilize low-accuracy absolute and relative range measurements, each derives an uncertain range that contains its true state in a distributed manner. Different from previous studies, we design a distributed algorithm to handle the range measurements based on extended constrained zonotopes, which has low computational complexity and high precision. With our proposed algorithm, agents can derive their uncertain range sequentially along the chain topology, such that agents with low-accuracy sensors can benefit from the high-accuracy absolute measurements of anchors and improve the estimation performance. simulation results corroborate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm and verify our method can significantly improve the estimation accuracy.
