Penetration is an important topic in the military and protection engineering field. Based on *MAT_PLASTIC_KINEMATIC of LS-DYNA program, this report studies effects of failure strain of the material parameters on structure of penetrating projectile. By establishing a group of numerical models about 45 steel hemispherical projectile penetrating semi-infinite concrete targets, this research aimed at analyzing effects of different failure strain values related to the destruction of the internal bracket structures of this projectile. At the same time, it studied the criterion of failure on finite dynamic program. The numerical results show that the use of failure strain in this model can well simulate damage of internal bracket structures of the projectile. Test was carried on based on this conclusion, which showed that bracket plate is subjected to shear failure in process of penetration, and numerical simulation was consistent with the experimental results. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The dynamics of fractional-order systems have attracted increasing attentions in recent years. In this paper, a novel fractional-order multi-scroll chaotic system with a rich variety of dynamical behaviors is proposed. We numerically study the dynamical behaviors of this fractional-order system. Chaotic behaviors can be found in this system when the order is lower than 3 and multi-scroll chaotic attractors similar to integer order system can be generated. Until no chaotic behaviors are found in this fractionalorder system, the number of multi-scroll chaotic attractors is decreasing with the reducing of system order. Further calculations indicate that the lowest order for chaos to exist in the considered system is 2.1. © 2013 by Binary Information Press.

Moving objects detection in a complicated surrounding is one of the most significant issues to be solved in the infrared target recognition because of the time-varying background. Biomimetic approach is a promising solution for tackling this problem. Visual detection and processing of motion in flies is thought to occur based on an elementary delay-and-correlate operation at an early stage in the visual pathway, which is the so-called `Reichardt detector'. However, the original Reichardt detector is a coarse description of the visual system of the fly. In this paper, we studied moving target detection method in a complicated background using a two-dimensional 2 quadrant motion detector network consisting of a grid of modified double channel motion detectors. At first, the scheme of modified double channel motion detector is analyzed and general properties of the modified double channel motion detectors are presented in detail. Then, the modified double channel motion detectors are interconnected in a grid to form a two-dimensional detectors network that can be used to model motion in two-dimensional scenes. The infrared image sequences including moving vehicle objects in the complicated background are used to confirm the proposed method in the experiment. The experimental results illustrate that, the proposed method achieves much better detection performance in infrared frames than the original Reichardt's model. Moving object could be detected in infrared frames without the interference of background.

Study on the frequency-modulation phase-shift laser ranging technique in laser fuzing applications

A frequency-modulation phase-shift laser ranging technique was proposed in order to improve the distance measurement resolution, real-time ability and reduce the complexity of system realization in laser fuzing applications. A method of sine wave frequency-modulation phase-shift range finding was employed. The operating principle of the frequency-modulation phase-shift laser ranging technique was analyzed and the main influencing factors on the distance measurement resolution was pointed out. The Hilbert transform was employed to improve the precision of phase measurement and the simulations were made for verification. The simulation results show that under a 14 dB signal to noise ratio condition the distance measurement resolution is higher than 0. 1 m and a good real-time ability is achieved which makes this technique properly apply to laser proximity fuzing.

For failure prediction and information interaction problems of multi-equipment health management, fault prediction technology of multi-equipment and multi-parameter was proposed based on the system network. The state judgment and fault diagnosis algorithm is adopted by SOM self-organizing feature map neural network, the network parameters and node structure are changed adaptively, and the real-time updating of running status of equipment fault detection is realized. The improved fault prediction algorithm based on Elman feedback artificial neural network promoted the characteristics of the approximate any nonlinear function with arbitrary precision. Referencing to historical data by the feedback for the health management of multiequipment, the algorithm provided early detection, isolation, management and forecast for fault omen, incipient fault status and ancillary component failure state in multi-equipment health management. The self adaptive abilities and the robustness of fault prediction system are improved effectively. © 2013 by IFSA.

Large container ships can only be anchored in deep trunk port, which needs container feeder service to transit and transport the cargos from of trunk ship, thus creating a shaft- spoke maritime transport mode. So, the electronic chart system in marine simulator is adopted to design routes and calculate the ETA of two ports, with consideration of vessel maneuverability and actual turning radius. In considering the limit of time it takes from the feeder port to the hub port and the ships capacity, the shortest ship sailing time is taken as the objective function, and then one mixed integer programming model is established for the container vessels regional transportation. By using the heuristic tour route coding, its solution based on genetic algorithms is presented, and it can achieve route selection. Finally, with ship capacity 150 TEU, the numerical evaluation was conducted by the operation of the ship program calculation, and the results show that when after 95 iterations the total journey time reached minimum 403.0h with 6 optimal routes.

Based on the wireless sensor network technology, an environmental monitoring system with localization and magnetic detection capabilities is developed for unattended remote environment monitoring and control. In the system, monitoring nodes adopt the CC2420 to build a low-power, short-range jump, self-organizing wireless network, and the gateway node uses the GPRS technology to link the front monitoring network to the rear monitor center. Meanwhile, a component-based software framework is provided to facilitate the protocol implement and to improve expansibility. The experiment demonstrates that the supervisory system can realize the environmental control duty and has a good application value. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The proposed advance model-free adaptive control algorithm is able to regain the control performance when some undesirable situations occur in linear motion system. A case study is employed in the development which involves the control of a linear motor setup using two control algorithms: a nominal control algorithm based on PID tuned for high performance, and the robust accommodating control based on advanced model free adaptive control (AMFAC). Compared with PID control, AMFAC is more robust to disturbances such as vibrations for fast time-varying systems. Simulation results based on the model of a real linear motion system setup are provided to show the effectiveness of the approach.

The light scattering properties of the dent nanoparticles upon wafers is discussed in this paper. Taking the advantage of the Bobbert-Vlieger(BV) theorem, the scattering model between wafer and dent nanoparticles is established. The scattering process is analyzed and the scattering coefficients are derived by using of the vector spherical harmonic function. The differential scattering cross section(DSCS) of the dent nanoparticles upon the wafer is calculated which is compared with the extended Mie method proved the validity of the method and the influences of the dent position, dent scale and scattering angle on the DSCS are analyzed numerically in details. The result is shown that the effect of the dielectric is smaller than the metal. Therefore, the material of the defect and the shape can be extracted by calculate the DSCS, which provide strong theoretical foundation to the nondestructive detector engineer.
