Two-dimensional violet phosphorus as a broadband saturable absorber for mid-infrared photonics

Two-dimensional (2D) violet phosphorus (VP), a recently investigated 2D semiconductor material, is promising for advanced optoelectronic applications because of its distinct physical and chemical features. In this work, high-quality, few-layered, 2D VP nanosheets were prepared, and their nonlinear optical (NLO) absorption characteristics were examined in detail in the 2 and 3 µm bands. The calculated high nonlinear absorption coefficients, low saturation intensities, and high modulation depths of 2D VP nanosheets demonstrated their exceptional mid-infrared (MIR) saturable absorption properties and significant potential for MIR photonic applications. Thus, in the Tm: GdVO4 laser and Er: YAP laser, we employed 2D VP as a broadband saturable absorber (SA), and obtained stable Q-switched pulse outputs with pulse durations of 522.6 ns at 1.9 µm and 195 ns at 2.8 µm, respectively. In particular, the pulse width obtained at 3 µm based on 2D VP-SA is much narrower compared to that obtained for most other 2D materials SAs. Single-shot ultrafast compressed imaging(UCI)is an effective tool for studying ultrafast dynamics in physics,chemistry,or material science because of its excellent high frame rate and large frame ***,the random code(Rcode)used in traditional UCI will lead to low-frequency noise covering high-frequency information due to its uneven sampling interval,which is a great challenge in the fidelity of large-frame ***,a high-frequency enhanced compressed active photography(H-CAP)is *** uniformizing the sampling interval of R-code,H-CAP capture the ultrafast process with a random uniform sampling *** sampling mode makes the high-frequency sampling energy dominant,which greatly suppresses the low-frequency noise blurring caused by R-code and achieves high-frequency information of image *** superior dynamic performance and large-frame reconstruction ability of H-CAP are verified by imaging optical self-focusing effect and static object,*** applied H-CAP to the spatial-temporal characterization of double-pulse induced silicon surface ablation dynamics,which is performed within 220 frames in a single-shot of 300 ps.H-CAP provides a high-fidelity imaging method for observing ultrafast unrepeatable dynamic processes with large frames.

MvSR-NAT: Multi-view Subset Regularization for Non-Autoregressive Machine Translation

Conditional masked language models (CMLM) have shown impressive progress in non-autoregressive machine translation (NAT). They learn the conditional translation model by predicting the random masked subset in the target sentence. Based on the CMLM framework, we introduce Multi-view Subset Regularization (MvSR), a novel regularization method to improve the performance of the NAT model. Specifically, MvSR consists of two parts: (1) shared mask consistency: we forward the same target with different mask strategies, and encourage the predictions of shared mask positions to be consistent with each other. (2) model consistency, we maintain an exponential moving average of the model weights, and enforce the predictions to be consistent between the average model and the online model. Without changing the CMLM-based architecture, our approach achieves remarkable performance on three public benchmarks with 0.7-1.15 BLEU gains over previous NAT models. And, we reduce the gap to the stronger Transformer baseline. IEEE

Perceptual video super-resolution aims at converting low-resolution videos to visually appealing high-resolution ones. It may lead to temporal inconsistency due to the drastically changing outputs. In this paper, we propose cascaded sliding-window-based relativistic GAN (Generative Adversarial Network) fusion for perceptual and consistent video super-resolution (PC-VSR). Firstly, cascaded sliding-window-based relativistic GAN is designed to extract more useful information. It enlarges the temporal receptive field of sliding-window-based model in each step. It is able to enhance perceptual quality and compensate temporal consistency progressively and sufficiently. The trained separate refinement generator networks are fused into a final refinement generator. The final refinement generator can be calculated recursively at the testing stage. With our generator fusion, the parameter number is reduced and good quality is maintained. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms state-of-the-art super-resolution methods in terms of perceptual quality. Our method also achieves good temporal consistency and per-pixel accuracy, compared with other perceptual approaches. © IFIP International Federation for information Processing 2025.

First wetland mapping at 10-m spatial resolution in South America using multi-source and multi-feature remote sensing data

Wetland degradation has been accelerating in recent years globally. Accurate information on the geographic distribution and categories of wetlands is essential for their conservation and management. Despite being the world′s fourth largest continent, South America has limited research on wetland mapping, and there is currently no available map that provides comprehensive information on wetland distribution and categories in the region. To address this issue, we used Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and SRTM data, developed a sample collection method and a wetland mapping method with a collection of multi-source features such as optical features, polarization features and shape features for South American wetlands. We produced a 10-m resolution wetland map based on the Google Earth Engine(GEE) platform. Our Level-1 wetland cover map accurately captured six wetland sub-categories with an overall accuracy of 96.24% and a kappa coefficient of 0.8649, while our Level-2 water cover map included five sub-categories with an overall accuracy of 97.23% and a kappa coefficient of0.9368. The results show that the total area of existing wetlands in South America is approximately 1,737,000 km~2, which is6.8% of the total land area. Among the ten wetland categories, shallow sea had the largest area(960,527.4 km~2), while aquaculture ponds had the smallest area 1513.6 km~2. Swamp had the second largest area(306,240.1 km~2). Brazil, Argentina,Venezuela, Bolivia, and Colombia were found to have the largest wetland areas, with Brazil and Colombia having the most diverse wetland categories. This product can serve as baseline data for subsequent monitoring, management, and conservation of South American wetlands.

systematic encoding is crucial in some decoding algorithms of algebraic-geometric (AG) codes. In the context of soft decoding that requires systematic encoding, the information set changes dynamically for each decoding event, presenting a challenge for systematic encoding of AG codes. This paper addresses this challenge for elliptic codes by proposing a fast construction algorithm for both the systematic encoding polynomial (SEP) and the systematic generator matrix (SGM) based on Gröbner bases of modules and backward interpolation. The proposed algorithm has a complexity of O(k2) and O(kn) for constructing the SEP and SGM, respectively, where k and n denote the dimension and length of the elliptic code. Additionally, its computation can be highly parallelized, enhancing its implementation efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

In this note, we present the synthesis of secure-by-construction controllers that address safety and security properties simultaneously in cyber-physical systems. Our focus is on studying a specific security property called opacity, which characterizes the system's ability to maintain plausible deniability of its secret behavior in the presence of an intruder. These controllers are synthesized based on a concept of so-called (augmented) control barrier functions. We propose conditions that facilitate the construction of the desired (augmented) control barrier functions and their corresponding secure-by-construction controllers. To compute these functions, we propose an iterative scheme that leverages iterative sum-of-square programming techniques. This approach enables efficient computation of these functions, particularly for polynomial systems. Finally, we validate the effectiveness of our results through a case study of a vehicle. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In terms of security and privacy,mobile ad-hoc network(MANET)continues to be in demand for additional debate and *** more MANET applications become data-oriented,implementing a secure and reliable data transfer protocol becomes a major concern in the ***,MANET’s lack of infrastructure,unpredictable topology,and restricted resources,as well as the lack of a previously permitted trust relationship among connected nodes,contribute to the attack detection burden.A novel detection approach is presented in this paper to classify passive and active black-hole *** proposed approach is based on the dipper throated optimization(DTO)algorithm,which presents a plausible path out of multiple paths for statistics transmission to boost MANETs’quality of service.A group of selected packet features will then be weighed by the DTO-based multi-layer perceptron(DTO-MLP),and these features are collected from nodes using the Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchical(LEACH)clustering *** is a powerful classifier and the DTO weight optimization method has a significant impact on improving the classification process by strengthening the weights of key features while suppressing the weights ofminor *** hybridmethod is primarily designed to combat active black-hole *** the LEACH clustering phase,however,can also detect passive black-hole *** effect of mobility variation on detection error and routing overhead is explored and evaluated using the suggested *** diverse mobility situations,the results demonstrate up to 97%detection accuracy and faster execution ***,the suggested approach uses an adjustable threshold value to make a correct conclusion regarding whether a node is malicious or benign.
