A new vegetation index combination for leaf carotenoid-tochlorophyll ratio: minimizing the effect of their correlation

The ratio of leaf carotenoid to chlorophyll(Car/Chl)is an indicator of vegetation photosynthesis,development and responses to ***,the correlation between Car and Chl,and their overlapping absorption in the visible spectral domain pose a challenge for optical remote sensing of their *** study aims to investigate combinations of vegetation indices(VIs)to minimize the influence of Car-Chl correlation,thus being more sensitive to the variability in the ratio across vegetation species and *** sensitive to Car and Chl variability were combined into four candidates of combinations,using a simulated dataset from the PROSPECT *** VI combinations were then tested using six simulated datasets with different Car-Chl correlations,and evaluated against four independent *** ratio of the carotenoid triangle ratio index(CTRI)with the red-edge chlorophyll index(CIred-edge)was found least influenced by the Car-Chl correlation and demonstrated a superior ability for estimating Car/Chl *** with published VIs and two machine learning algorithms,CTRI/CIred-edge also showed the optimal performance in the fourfield *** new VI combination could be useful to provide insights in spatiotemporal variability in the leaf Car/Chl ratio,applicable for assessing vegetation physiology,phenology,and response to environmental stress.

This study focuses on the spatiotemporal distribution,urban-rural variations,and driving factors of ammonia Vertical Column Densities(VCDs)in China’s Yangtze River Delta region(YRD)from 2008 to *** data from the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interfer-ometer(IASI),Generalized Additive Models(GAM),and the GEOS-Chem chemical transport model,we observed a significant increase of NH_(3)VCDs in the YRD between 2014 and *** spatial distribution analysis revealed higher NH_(3)concentrations in the northern part of the YRD region,primarily due to lower precipitation,alkaline soil,and intensive agricul-tural ***_(3)VCDs in the YRD region increased significantly(65.18%)from 2008 to *** highest growth rate occurs in the summer,with an annual average growth rate of 7.2%during the period from 2014 to *** emissions dominated NH_(3)VCDs during spring and summer,with high concentrations primarily located in the agricultural areas adjacent to densely populated urban *** within several large urban areas have been discovered to exhibit relatively stable variations in NH_(3)*** rise in NH_(3)VCDs within the YRD region was primarily driven by the reduction of acidic gases like SO_(2),as emphasized by GAM modeling and sensitivity tests using the GEOS-Chem *** concentration changes of acidic gases contribute to over 80%of the interannual variations in NH_(3)*** emphasizes the crucial role of environmental policies targeting the reduction of these acidic *** emission control is urgent tomitigate environmental hazards and secondary particulate matter,especially in the northern YRD.

The promptness of decision-making is of paramount importance in coordinate decision-making communication systems. In this paper, we envision a system in which a sender transmits information to a receiver for decision-making. The decision-making process encompasses the extraction of decision-related information followed by subsequent computation. To assess the impact of communication delays, randomness of decision-making and computational time on the immediacy of decisions, we introduce a novel performance metric, namely the age of decision (AoD). Specifically, AoD is defined as the time elapsed since the generation of the update upon which the most recent decision is based. Considering the stochastic nature of decision-making, we analyze the average peak AoD in systems where the arrival and service processes follow general processes or Poisson processes. To facilitate our derivations, we introduce the concept of effective decisions to denote those decisions that can lead to the system's peak AoD. Simulation results confirm the validity of our derivations and illustrate that appropriately increasing the rate of decision-making can significantly reduce the system's average peak AoD. © 2024 IEEE.

A New HARQ Scheme for 5G systems via Interleaved Superposition Retransmission

Within the framework of the 5G new radio(NR),we propose a new hybrid automatic repeat request(HARQ)scheme to improve the throughput *** difference between the proposed scheme and the conventional one lies in the first retransmission,where the erroneous coded block group is interleaved and superimposed(XORed)onto a fresh coded block *** the receiver,an iterative message-passing decoding algorithm can be employed to recover the target erroneous code block group(CBG).Only when the superposed retransmission fails,the conventional incremental redundancy(IR)or repetition redundancy(RR)retransmission is *** any case,since the first retransmission is along with but has negligible effect on the fresh CBG,it costs neither transmitted power nor ***-Carlo simulation results reveal that the presented HARQ schemes can achieve throughput improvements up to 10%over block fading channels and up to 50%over fast fading channels in comparison with the original 5G CBG-level HARQ scheme but without excessively increasing the implementation complexity.

Improvement of multi-functional properties by fabricating micro-pillar arrays structures on zirconium alloy surface

Modern society is the development stage of informationization and intelligence, and display is the key factor to realize information exchange and intelligence. Among the many current displays, Micro lightemitting diode (μLED) display is used as a disruptive next-generation display. Based on the same GaN material and process platform, we propose the vertical integrated device, where Indium Gallium Nitride/Gallium Nitride (InGaN/GaN) based μLED and GaN bipolar junction transistors (BJT) monolithically integrated vertically on a single GaN chip. The ultraviolet optoelectronic characteristics of μLED on BJT (LET) devices were simulated by using Silvaco TCAD software. By optimizing the size and concentration of the epitaxy layer, the optimized integrated device is obtained with high current gain and strong response to UV light. The LET can be used as both receiver and emitter, which is regulated by changing the light input power or base voltage. This device can be driven by the base voltage and UV light alone, which is a multifunctional integrated device for light emitting, detecting, sensing, driving and regulating. © 2024 John Wiley and Sons Inc. In this article, an adaptive event-triggered asymp¬totically fault-tolerant control (FTC) issue for nonlinear systems with actuator faults is investigated. An extended neural networks (NNs) technique is introduced to estimate unknown functions of the system under consideration. Compared with traditional NNs that ignore approximation errors, the proposed extended NNs further processes approximation errors, reducing the conservatism of the proposed algorithm. Then, within the framework of backstepping method, a new adaptive control strategy is developed by combining event-triggered mechanism (ETM) and bound estimation (BE) approach, which ensures the asymptotic convergence of system states while also reducing the transmission of unnecessary information, thus improving the utilization of communication resources. At the same time, the designed controller eliminates the adverse effects of actuator failures and system nonlinear terms. Finally, a simulation example of a single-link robot system is provided to demonstrate that the developed control strategy can ensure that all signals are bounded and system states are asymptotically convergent. © 2024 IEEE.

Excited-states play a crucial role in the optical absorption and luminescence of solids and hence their accurate information is highly desired. Herein, we attempt to seize the excited-states information of Mn^(4+)ions in K_(2)SiF_(6) microcrystals via measuring and calculating their variable-temperature photoluminescence excitation(PLE) spectra. At cryogenic temperatures, an unpredicted splitting of the high-excited-state is observed. Moreover, the two-split high-excited-state levels are further revealed to primarily couple with the two hyperfine split modes of quasi-localized ν2 vibration in the distorted Mn-F_(6) octahedral configuration,whereas the coupling strengths are found to be substantially different from each other. The slightly split vibrational mode is firmly supported by the low-temperature Raman spectra. Jahn-Teller lattice distortion is believed to be responsible for the observed splitting of the electronic high-excited-state and the quasi-localized vibrational mode.
