Constellation shaping optimization for nonlinearity mitigation in CAP UVLC system

In the sixth-generation communication(6G), wireless communication will cover not only conventional air links but also underwater links. Underwater visible light communication(UVLC) is an expected technique that achieves a high data rate. However, UVLC systems suffer from severe nonlinear distortions for the high-power transmitting, thus nonlinear compensation is vital to the system. Carrier-less amplitude and phase(CAP) modulation is a promising modulation, especially for the scenes with high nonlinear *** this paper, for the first time, we proposed a constellation optimization method for the UVLC system supporting the native artificial intelligence in 6G. The proposed framework, based on the complete process of the CAP modulation and demodulation, fulfills an end-to-end learning scheme with a neural network at the transmitter side and the conventional demodulation processes at the receiver side. A loss function is further designed to support the training without needing a fixed signal-to-noise ratio(SNR). The proposed framework is simulated and then tested in an experiment. In a 1.2-meter nonlinear UVLC channel, compared with 1.5 Gbit/s supported by the conventional grid encoding, the proposed method brings an extra 200 Mbit/s data rate.

Under the advancement of emerging communication technologies, the utilization of Internet of Things (IoT) is progressively expanding across diverse domains. The age of information (AoI) stands as a crucial measurement in evaluating the efficiency of IoT networks. For efficient and reliable data collection, Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) have been extensively applied in IoT networks. However, the escalating number of sensor nodes and random data sampling mode within IoT networks have made it challenging for UAV trajectory planning with the constraint of energy consumption. In response to this challenge, our solution entails an attention-based actor-critic algorithm for multi-UAV path planning in a pre-clustered IoT network, which takes into account both the average AoI of clusters and the energy consumption of each UAV. The simulation outcomes validate that our algorithm achieves a trade-off between the information freshness and energy consumption in the multi-UAV data gathering scenario. © 2024 IEEE.

Currently, the 4G network service has caused massive digital growth in high use. Video calling has become the go-to Internet application for many people, downloading even huge files in minutes. Everyone is looking for and buying only 4G Subscriber Identity Module (SIM)-capable mobiles. In this case, the expectation of 5G has increased in line with 2G, 3G, and 4G, where the G stands for generation, and it does not indicate Internet or Internet speed. 5G includes next-generation features that are more advanced than those available in 4G network services. The main objective of 5G is uninterrupted telecommunication service in hybrid energy storage system. This paper proposes an intelligent networking model to obtain the maximum energy efficiency and Artificial Intelligence (AI) automation of 5G networks. There is currently an issue where the signal cuts out when crossing an area with one tower and traveling to an area with another tower. The problem of “call drop”, where the call is disconnected while talking, is not present in 5G. The proposed Intelligent Computational Model (ICM) model obtained 96.31% network speed management, 90.63% battery capacity management, 92.27% network device management, 93.57% energy efficiency, and 88.41% AI automation.

Traj-LLM: A New Exploration for Empowering Trajectory Prediction With Pre-Trained Large Language Models

Predicting the future trajectories of dynamic traffic actors is a cornerstone task in autonomous driving. Though existing notable efforts have resulted in impressive performance improvements, a gap persists in scene cognitive and understanding of complex traffic semantics. This paper proposes Traj-LLM, the first to investigate the potential of using pre-trained Large Language Models (LLMs) without explicit prompt engineering to generate future motions from vehicular past trajectories and traffic scene semantics. Traj-LLM starts with sparse context joint encoding to dissect the agent and scene features into a form that LLMs understand. On this basis, we creatively explore LLMs' strong understanding capability to capture a spectrum of high-level scene knowledge and interactive information. To emulate the human-like lane focus cognitive function and enhance Traj-LLM's scene comprehension, we introduce lane-aware probabilistic learning powered by the Mamba module. Finally, a multi-modal Laplace decoder is designed to achieve scene-compliant predictions. Extensive experiments manifest that Traj-LLM, fueled by prior knowledge and understanding prowess of LLMs, together with lane-aware probability learning, transcends the state-of-the-art methods across most evaluation metrics. Moreover, the few-shot analysis serves to substantiate Traj-LLM's performance, as even with merely 50% of the dataset, it surpasses the majority of benchmarks relying on complete data utilization. This study explores endowing the trajectory prediction task with advanced capabilities inherent in LLMs, furnishing a more universal and adaptable solution for forecasting agent movements in a new way. We present a lightweight and efficient semisupervised video object segmentation network based on the space-time memory *** some extent,our method solves the two difficulties encountered in traditional video object segmentation:one is that the single frame calculation time is too long,and the other is that the current frame’s segmentation should use more information from past *** algorithm uses a global context(GC)module to achieve highperformance,real-time *** GC module can effectively integrate multi-frame image information without increased memory and can process each frame in real ***,the prediction mask of the previous frame is helpful for the segmentation of the current frame,so we input it into a spatial constraint module(SCM),which constrains the areas of segments in the current *** SCM effectively alleviates mismatching of similar targets yet consumes few additional *** added a refinement module to the decoder to improve boundary *** model achieves state-of-the-art results on various datasets,scoring 80.1%on YouTube-VOS 2018 and a J&F score of 78.0%on DAVIS 2017,while taking 0.05 s per frame on the DAVIS 2016 validation dataset.

With the increase of computing-intensive and delay-sensitive applications, mobile edge computing (MEC) technology has sprung up. It effectively satisfies the needs of user equipment (UE) for real-time computing resources by placing servers at the edge of the network. However, traditional MEC infrastructures are constrained by their fixed locations and emergency mobility needs. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) offer an effective solution with low cost, high mobility, and flexible deployment capabilities. In this paper, we propose a region-centric UAV-assisted MEC model, where the whole network space is divided into a set of hexagonal cells of equal area, and all UAVs in the same cell jointly process UE offloading data. Assume all UAVs are assumed to be equipped with independent MEC servers, and both UAVs and terrestrial UE follow independent homogeneous Poisson point process (PPP) distributions. Using the stochastic geometry analysis framework, we derive the successful uplink communication probability (SUCP) of uplink transmission for users. Finally, we compare the simulation results with the theoretical values to verify the model’s accuracy and evaluate the influence of key performance parameters on the network performance. © IFIP International Federation for information Processing 2025.

Evolutionary reinforcement learning algorithms (ERLs), which combine evolutionary algorithms (EAs) with reinforcement learning (RL), have demonstrated significant success in enhancing RL performance. However, most ERLs rely heavily on Gaussian mutation operators to generate new individuals. When the standard deviation is too large or small, this approach will result in the production of poor or highly similar offspring. Such outcomes can be detrimental to the learning process of the RL agent, as too many poor or similar experiences are generated by these individuals. In order to alleviate these issues, this paper proposes an Adaptive Evolutionary Reinforcement Learning (AERL) method that adaptively adjusts both the standard deviation and the evaluation process. By tracking the performance of new individuals, AERL maintains the mutation strength within a suitable range without the need for additional gradient computations. Moreover, the proposed AERL approach early terminates unnecessary evaluations and discards experiences arising from poor individuals, thereby resulting in enhanced learning efficiency. Empirical assessments conducted on a variety of continuous control problems demonstrate the effectiveness of the AERL method. © 2024 International Foundation for Autonomous Agents and Multiagent systems.
