Data clustering is an essential technique for analyzing complex datasets and continues to be a central research topic in data *** clustering algorithms,such as K-means,are widely used due to their simplicity and *** paper proposes a novel Spiral Mechanism-Optimized Phasmatodea Population Evolution Algorithm(SPPE)to improve clustering *** SPPE algorithm introduces several enhancements to the standard Phasmatodea Population Evolution(PPE)***,a Variable Neighborhood Search(VNS)factor is incorporated to strengthen the local search capability and foster population ***,a position update model,incorporating a spiral mechanism,is designed to improve the algorithm’s global exploration and convergence ***,a dynamic balancing factor,guided by fitness values,adjusts the search process to balance exploration and exploitation *** performance of SPPE is first validated on CEC2013 benchmark functions,where it demonstrates excellent convergence speed and superior optimization results compared to several state-of-the-art metaheuristic *** further verify its practical applicability,SPPE is combined with the K-means algorithm for data clustering and tested on seven *** results show that SPPE-K-means improves clustering accuracy,reduces dependency on initialization,and outperforms other clustering *** study highlights SPPE’s robustness and efficiency in solving both optimization and clustering challenges,making it a promising tool for complex data analysis tasks.

Nowadays, mental-insulator-metal (MIM) waveguides are widely used in the design of optical plasmonic waveguides due to their superior ability to confine surface plasmons up to sub wavelength scale. This research proposes the design of series and parallel circuits using cascaded plasmonic Mach-Zehnder interferometers (PMZIs). Each PMZI employs a nonlinear arm to switch light across the output port via the insertion of the nonlinear Kerr material poly(2-methoxy-5-(28-ethylhexyloxy)-PPV). The proposed design is having footprint of 104 μm × 11 μm. The finite-difference time-domain method is used to study, design, and analysis all optical series and parallel circuit proposals. © 2022 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.

Random Staircase Generator Matrix Codes: Coding Theorem, Performance Analysis, and Code Design

In this paper, we present a class of codes, referred to as random staircase generator matrix codes (SGMCs), which have staircase-like generator matrices. In the infinite-length region, we prove that the random SGMC is capacity-achieving over binary-input output-symmetric (BIOS) channels. In the finite-length region, we propose the generalized representative ordered statistics decoding with local constraints (LC-ROSD) algorithm for the SGMCs. The most distinguished feature of the SGMCs with LC-ROSD is that the staircase-like matrices enable parallel implementation of the Gaussian elimination (GE), avoiding the serial GE of conventional OSD and supporting a potential low decoding latency, as implied from simulations. To analyze the performance of random SGMCs in the finite-length region, we derive the ensemble weight spectrum and invoke the conventional union bound. We also derive a partially random coding union (RCU) bound, which is tighter than the conventional one and is used as a criterion to design the SGMCs. Staircase-like generator matrices allow us to derive a series of (tighter and tighter) lower bounds based on the second-order Bonferroni inequality with the incremental number of codewords. The numerical results show that the decoding performance can match well with the proposed partially RCU bound for different code rates and different profiles. The numerical results also show that the tailored SGMCs with the LC-ROSD algorithm can approach the finite-length performance bound, outperforming the 5G low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, 5G polar codes, and Reed-Muller (RM) codes. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Effect of industrial alkene ozonolysis on atmospheric H_(2)SO_(4)formation

This study has employed the master chemical mechanism(MCM)to investigate the influence of the ozone oxidation pathways in the atmospheric formation of H_(2)SO_(4)from shortchain olefins in industrialized ***-situ H_(2)SO_(4)formation data were obtained using a high-resolution chemical ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometer,and the simulated H_(2)SO_(4)concentrations calculated using updated parameters for the MCM model exhibited good agreementwith *** the simulation analysis of different reaction pathways involved in H_(2)SO_(4)formation,hydroxyl radicals were found to dominate H_(2)SO_(4)production during the daytime,while olefin ozone oxidation contributed up to 65%of total H_(2)SO_(4)production during the night-time.A sensitivity analysis of the H_(2)SO_(4)production parameters has revealed a high sensitivity to changes in sulfur dioxide,and a relatively high sensitivity to olefins with fast ozonolysis reaction rates and bimolecular reaction rates of resulting stabilized Criegee Intermediates.A high relative humidity promotes daytime H_(2)SO_(4)formation,but has an inhibiting effect during the night-time due to the different dominant reaction pathways.

Distributed Leader-Following Formation Control of Networked Mobile Robots via Global Orientation Estimation

This article proposes a novel distributed leader-following formation control strategy for multiple networked mobile robots, utilizing the relative position measurements among robots. In particular, the leader is assumed to have the same kinematics as the followers and all the robots do not rely on orientation measurements. Firstly, a global orientation estimation law is proposed in the sense that the followers' orientation information is estimated in the leader's reference frame, only based on the leader's orientation estimation and relative bearing information. Secondly, since the leader is not directly connected to all the followers, a new distributed state observer is designed for each follower to estimate the leader's states. Especially, the designed observer not only removes the algebraic loops issue but also eliminates the requirement for the leader's acceleration information. Furthermore, a distributed formation control law is proposed by incorporating the previous estimations, and it is proved that the closed-loop system consisting of the observer and controller is asymptotically stable. Finally, simulation results validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method. © 2013 IEEE.

This study presents an H∞ fault-tolerant fuzzy intermittent control approach for the nonlinear hyperbolic partial differential equation (PDE) systems with multiple delays and actuator failures (MDAFs). Firstly, the nonlinear hyperbolic PDE systems with MDAFs are characterized by the Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy delayed hyperbolic PDE model. Next, by employing the Lyapunov direct method, this paper demonstrates the robust exponential stability using spatial linear matrix inequalities (SLMIs) based on a new switching Lyapunov functional (LF). Furthermore, the H∞ fault-tolerant fuzzy intermittent control issue for nonlinear hyperbolic PDE systems with MDAFs is transformed into the LMI feasibility problem to deal with the SLMIs. Lastly, the feasibility of the constructed control strategy is demonstrated by two illustrative examples. © 2024 International Society of Automation

Underwater image enhancement (UIE) focuses on mitigating image quality degradation due to light absorption and scattering. However, most existing methods enhance images via a global and uniform manner, neglecting the inherent semantic information in different regions, which may cause the network to easily deviate from the region's original color. Moreover, these methods typically rely on clear images to guide network convergence, a process constrained by the limited availability of real-world datasets, making it extremely challenging to train enhancement models for various degradations. To address these challenges, this paper introduces a semantic guidance and region contrastive constraints network (SRCNet). Initially, we propose a semantic-aware RWKV (Receptance Weighted Key Value) block and a semantic prompt regularization module. These components leverage intra-target semantic correlations to preserve image details and colors within a global perceptual framework, while employing focal loss to emphasize the restoration of severely degraded regions. Subsequently, we introduce a region contrastive learning method that effectively utilizes negative samples to precisely capture features sensitive to degradation factors, thereby fostering robust feature distributions. Finally, experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms existing state-of-the-art (SOTA) approaches. © 2025 IEEE.

The development of aeroengine with a high thrust-weight ratio poses great challenges for current top-coating thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) and environmental barrier coatings (EBCs) in service. Medium/high-entropy ceramics are highly promising candidate material for advanced TBCs/EBCs owing to their low thermal conductivity, high melting point, high-temperature stability, and calcium–magnesium–alumino–silicate (CMAS) resistance. Most feedstock powder used for medium/high-entropy TBCs/EBCs is prepared via traditional spray drying, which cannot fully exploit the advantages of multicomponent ceramics. The density, sphericity, inner structure, and flowability of feedstock powder affect their melting state during the thermal spraying process, which strongly affects the microstructure and properties of the deposited coatings. Therefore, the deposited coatings exhibit phase segregation, amorphous phases, and microstructure defects owing to unpredictable variations in feedstock powder with random morphologies and structures. Here, the structure and properties of feedstock powder prepared by state-of-the-art granulation technologies and their influences on the deposited coatings were systematically investigated, which can provide guidance for configuration optimization of feedstock powder and the manufacturing accuracy of the deposited coating. This review aims to bridge the gap between cutting-edge ceramics and advanced engineering technologies, thus providing concrete background knowledge and crucial guidelines for designing and developing TBCs/EBCs.

Extraction of phase information for moiré fringes based on adaptive wavelet basis frequency

As a critical step in moiré tomography, the extraction of phase information directly impacts the accuracy and resolution of the results. In this study, an adaptive wavelet basis frequency selection method is proposed for extracting the phase information of moiré fringes. The theories of wavelet basis frequency selection are derived based on the moiré fringe intensity distribution, followed by numerical simulations that demonstrate the feasibility and reliability of our method. Subsequently, validation experiments are performed, in which the phase information obtained by the adaptive method is compared with that obtained by Fourier and ridge detection methods. The results indicate that the introduction of adaptive wavelet basis frequency selection demonstrates advantages in noise resistance, accuracy, and efficiency. Meanwhile, it exhibits greater adaptability and robustness to moiré fringes with different carrier frequencies. In summary, the introduction of adaptive wavelet basis frequency opens great possibilities for the precise analysis of complex optical fringes, which will expand the application potential of moiré tomography. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group.

Spatiotemporal influence of driving factors on water conservation in underdeveloped plateau regions: a case in the Yellow River Basin of Sichuan, China

The Yellow River Basin in Sichuan Province(YRS)is undergoing severe soil erosion and exacerbated ecological vulnerability,which collectively pose formidable challenges for regional water conservation(WC)and sustainable *** effectively enhancing WC necessitates a comprehensive understanding of its driving factors and corresponding intervention strategies,existing studies have largely neglected the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of both natural and socio-economic ***,this study explored the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of WC drivers in YRS using multi-scale geographically weighted regression(MGWR)and geographically and temporally weighted regression(GTWR)models from an eco-hydrological *** discovered that downstream regions,which are more developed,achieved significantly better WC than upstream *** results also demonstrated that the influence of temperature and wind speed is consistently dominant and temporally stable due to climate stability,while the influence of vegetation shifted from negative to positive around 2010,likely indicating greater benefits from understory *** growth positively impacted WC in upstream regions but had a negative effect in the more developed downstream *** findings highlight the importance of targeted water conservation strategies,including locally appropriate revegetation,optimization of agricultural and economic structures,and the establishment of eco-compensation mechanisms for ecological conservation and sustainable development.
