Aluminum is an attractive alternative fuel,but it burns very inefficiently due to the formation of a dense Al_(2)O_(3)layer which prevents O_(2)from diffusion to the surface of Al *** previous experiments,the combustion of millimeter-sized Al(mAl)particles in the fluidized bed has achieved a substantial increase in the combustion efficiency,but further improvements are still *** this study,the effects of reaction atmosphere on the fluidized combustion of mAl particles were *** experiments with different O_(2)/H_(2)O/CO_(2)concentrations were *** experimental results indicate that the combustion efficiency of mAl particles in fluidized bed increases as the mole fraction of O_(2),H_(2)O or CO_(2)increases,and the highest combustion efficiency can reach 38.7%.After the analysis of the oxide film on the surface of aluminum particles,it was found that it is easier to generate the unstableθ-Al_(2)O_(3)under CO_(2)atmosphere,and it is easier to generate the unstableγ-Al_(2)O_(3)andθ-Al_(2)O_(3)under H_(2)O *** unstable Al_(2)O_(3)film is more likely to be abraded in the fluidized bed,which leads to the effective improvement of the combustion efficiency.

Skinned Motion Retargeting with Preservation of Body Part Relationships

Motion retargeting is an active research area in computer graphics and animation, allowing for the transfer of motion from one character to another, thereby creating diverse animated character data. While this technology has numerous applications in animation, games, and movies, current methods often produce unnatural or semantically inconsistent motion when applied to characters with different shapes or joint counts. This is primarily due to a lack of consideration for the geometric and spatial relationships between the body parts of the source and target characters. To tackle this challenge, we introduce a novel spatially-preserving Skinned Motion Retargeting Network (SMRNet) capable of handling motion retargeting for characters with varying shapes and skeletal structures while maintaining semantic consistency. By learning a hybrid representation of the character's skeleton and shape in a rest pose, SMRNet transfers the rotation and root joint position of the source character's motion to the target character through embedded rest pose feature alignment. Additionally, it incorporates a differentiable loss function to further preserve the spatial consistency of body parts between the source and target. The modern military confrontations often involve simultaneous activities such as electromagnetic warfare, network information warfare, and weapon firepower confrontation. These confrontations typically take the form of a system of systems (SoS), which is a complex system with diverse data types, large volumes of data, and intricate data transmission networks. To ensure absolute superiority in military confrontations, combat commanders must be able to extract knowledge from the complex SoS data and intuitively understand and evaluate its various capabilities in order to promptly implement appropriate command measures. This study proposes a granular description-based method for evaluating SoS capabilities to achieve rapid and intuitive cognition of SoS capabilities. The method aims to transform the problem of evaluating SoS capabilities into a granular modeling problem consisting of three stages: the first stageinvolveso rganizing t he S oS data a nd constructing a dataset encompassing SoS capability;the second stage focuses on constructing capability information granules;the third stage develops an information granule-based model using historical SoS data. Based on the SoS capability dataset generated by the constructed SoS-level combat confrontation simulation environment, a series of experiments concerning the generated dataset are implemented to exhibit the process and effect of the proposed granular-based evaluation method. © 2024 IEEE.

Visible and near-infrared photodetectors are widely used in intelligent driving, health monitoring, and other fields. However, the application of photodetectors in the near-infrared region is significantly impacted by high dark current, which can greatly reduce their performance and sensitivity, thereby limiting their effectiveness in certain applications. In this work, the introduction of a C60back interface layer successfully mitigated back interface reactions to decrease the thickness of the Mo（S,Se）2layer, tailoring the back-contact barrier and preventing reverse charge injection, resulting in a kesterite photodetector with an ultralow dark current density of 5.2 × 10-9m A/cm2and ultra-weak-light detection at levels as low as 25 p W/cm2. Besides, under a self-powered operation, it demonstrates outstanding performance, achieving a peak responsivity of 0.68 A/W, a wide response range spanning from 300 to 1600 nm, and an impressive detectivity of 5.27 × 1014Jones. In addition, it offers exceptionally rapid response times,with rise and decay times of 70 and 650 ns, respectively. This research offers important insights for developing high-performance self-powered near-infrared photodetectors that have high responsivity, rapid response times, and ultralow dark current.

Enhancing rheology and mechanical properties of DLP 3D-printed Si_(3)N_(4) materials via composition optimization and gas-pressure sintering

Digital light processing(DLP)is a crucial additive manufacturing(AM)technique for producing high-precision ceramic *** study aims to optimize the formulation of Si_(3)N_(4)slurry to enhance both its performance and manufacturability in the DLP process,and investigate key factors such as particle size distribution,photopolymer resin monomer ratios,and dispersant types to im-prove the slurry’s rheological *** these optimizations,a photosensitive Si_(3)N_(4)slurry with 50vol%solid content was de-veloped,exhibiting excellent stability,and low viscosity(2.48 Pa·s at a shear rate of 12.8 s^(-1)).The effects of gas-pressure sintering on the material’s phase composition,microstructure,and mechanical properties were further explored,revealing that this technique significantly increases the flexural strength of the green sample from(109±10.24)to(618±42.15)*** sintered ceramics exhibited high hard-ness((16.59±0.05)GPa)and improved fracture toughness((4.45±0.03)MPa·m^(1/2)).Crack trajectory analysis revealed that crack deflec-tion,crack bridging,and the pull-out of rod-likeβ-Si_(3)N_(4)grains,are the main toughening mechanisms,which could effectively mitigate crack *** these mechanisms,crack deflection and bridging were particularly influential,significantly enhancing the frac-ture toughness of the Si_(3)N_(4)***,this research highlights how monomer formulation and gas-pressure sintering strengthen the performance of Si_(3)N_(4)slurry in the DLP three-dimensional printing *** work is expected to provide new insights for fabricat-ing complex Si_(3)N_(4)ceramic components with superior mechanical properties.

Leaving None Behind: Data-Free Domain Incremental Learning for Major Depressive Disorder Detection

While deep learning techniques have shown promising performance in the Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) detection task, they still face limitations in real-world scenarios. Specifically, given the data scarcity, some efforts have resorted to aggregating data from different domains to expand the data volume. However, their effectiveness is currently limited by the domain gap and data privacy. Additionally, the class imbalance issue is particularly severe in our application, leading to biased classifying performance accordingly. To address these challenges, we propose Data-Free Domain Incremental Learning for the MDD detection (DIL-MDD) task, accommodating multiple feature distributions by only accessing well-trained models from previous domains and the data in the current domain. Specifically, DIL-MDD consists of two key modules: Adaptive Class-tailored Threshold Learning (ACTL) and Data-Free Domain Alignment (DFDA). The first module measures the discrepancy between the outputs of two sequential domains, based on which we learn a class-tailored threshold adaptively. Building on this, we differentiate between samples that either exhibit similarities or dissimilarities with the previous domain, where this similar sample set is identified to investigate the feature distribution of the historical data. The second module imposes an alignment constraint to narrow the gap between these two sample sets, thereby exploring the expertise of the previous domain. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we conduct extensive experiments on the public MDD datasets, i.e., DAIC-WOZ, MODMA, and CMDC. We also apply our method to another mental health condition, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), to further demonstrate its applicability. Finally, the ablation studies validate the superiority of the proposed modules. © 2024 IEEE.

OFDM-structure based waveform designs for integrated sensing and communication

The future sixth-generation(6G) paradigm aims to seamlessly integrate communication and environmental sensing capabilities into a single radio signal, promising improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness through simultaneous data communications and environmental perception. At the core of this evolution, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) and its advanced waveforms emerge as pivotal for integrated sensing and communications(ISAC). This study introduces a concise and unified ISAC waveform design framework based on orthogonal multicarriers. This framework supports versatile applications of OFDM and its derivative waveforms within a generalized ISAC system, marking a significant leap in integrating communication and sensing capabilities. A distinguishing feature of this framework is its adaptability,allowing users to intelligently select modulation strategies based on their specific environmental needs. This adaptability optimizes performance across diverse scenarios. Central to our innovations is the proposal of discrete Fourier transformspread OFDM with index modulation(DFT-S-OFDM-IM). This framework is paired with newly proposed signal processing methods for single-input single-output and multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) systems. Extensive evaluations highlight DFT-S-OFDM-IM's superiority, including dramatically reduced peak-to-average power ratios(PAPRs), competitive communication performance, and exceptional sensing capabilities, striking an elegant balance between communication capacity and environmental sensing precision.

Due to serious harm of triethylamine（TEA） to environmental safety and human health, it is significant to synthesize gas-sensitive materials with high performance for TEA detection. However, it is still a challenge to achieve high-sensitivity detection of TEA at low temperature for a sensor synthesized through an economical and efficient method. In this work, hollow-structured SnO2（HS-SnO2） nanospheres have been fabricated by a facile, low-cost hydrothermal method in one step, which exhibit superior TEA-sensing properties, including not only ultrahigh response（127.75） for 100 ppm TEA, good selectivity, but also fast response and recovery time（17/28 s）, low detection threshold（1 ppm） and robust stability at a relatively low optimum operational temperature of 225°*** excellent gas-sensitizing performances are ascribed to porous hollow structures with rich oxygen vacancies that provide abundant active sites for raising O2adsorption and reaction of TEA and oxygen species. This work offers an effective and economical strategy for fabricating high-performance TEA sensors for industrial applications.
