A SAGPSO-CNN Approach for Supervised Fault Classification in MVDC Shipboard Power systems

All-electric ships (AES) utilizing medium-voltage direct current (MVDC) shipboard power systems (SPS) rely on a limited number of generators to supply power to propulsion units and onboard loads. To meet the demands of dynamic maritime missions, frequent adjustments in network topology and operating power are required, which pose significant challenges for fault management by complicating fault detection and reconfiguration. This study proposes a convolutional neural network (CNN) optimized via surrogate-assisted gradient particle swarm optimization (SAGPSO) to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of short-circuit fault classification in MVDC systems. A two-zone MVDC simulation model, developed in PSCAD/EMTDC, is used to generate a comprehensive dataset covering high-impedance faults and various transient disturbances. These signals are converted into spectrograms using the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT), enabling rich time-frequency feature representation. A supervised CNN is then employed to learn discriminative features from the spectrograms for fault classification, while SAGPSO fine-tunes the hyperparameters by incorporating gradient information and surrogate modeling to improve model performance and convergence speed. Experimental results demonstrate that the SAGPSO-CNN approach effectively distinguishes high-impedance DC inter-pole faults from strong transient disturbances, such as pulse load variations and sudden increases in propulsor loads, with a classification accuracy exceeding 99%. Furthermore, the method significantly refines network parameter configurations, supporting robust fault management in MVDC SPS. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Semantic change detection(SCD)and land cover mapping(LCM)are always treated as a dual task in thefield of remote ***,due to diverse real-world scenarios,many SCD categories are not easy to be clearly recognized,such as“water-vegetation”and“water-tree”,which can be regarded asfine-grained *** addition,even a single LCM category is usually difficult to *** instance,some“vegetation”categories with litter vegetation coverage are easily confused with the general“ground”***/LCM becomes challenging under both challenges of itsfine-grained nature and label *** this paper,we tackle the SCD and LCM tasks simultaneously by proposing a coarse-to-fine attention tree(CAT)***,it consists of an encoder,a decoder and a coarse-to-fine attention tree *** encoder-decoder structure extracts the high-level features from input multi-temporal imagesfirst and then reconstructs them to return SCD and LCM *** coarse-to-fine attention tree,on the one hand,utilizes the tree structure to better model a hierarchy of categories by predicting the coarse-grained labelsfirst and then predicting thefine-grained labels *** the other hand,it applies the attention mechanism to capture discriminative pixel ***,to address label ambiguity in SCD/LCM,we also equip a label distribution learning loss upon our *** on the large-scale SECOND dataset justify that the proposed CAT model outperforms state-of-the-art ***,various ablation studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of tailored designs in the CAT model for solving semantic change detection problems.

The M-estimate based proportionate normalized subband adaptive filter (M-PNSAF) exists a performance compromise caused by the constant step-size. To effectively deal with this problem, we propose to take advantage of large and small step-sizes through the adaptation of the mixing factor to improve the M-PNSAF performance. Different from adaptively adjusting the mixing factor through a sigmoid function, the proposed algorithm minimizes the squared a posterior subband errors at each iteration to find the optimal time-varying mixing factor. Finally, simulation results in impulsive noises corroborate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper presents an innovative pipeline design for the quantization of neural image codecs, ensuring robust and consistent deployment across various platform inferences. Our approach addresses a significant challenge prevalent in neural image compression networks: the lack of quantization methods for entropy probability hyper-priors, such as Gaussian mixture models (GMMs), in the existing literature. Our method serves as a solution to prevent decoding errors stemming from float-point discrepancies between the encoder and decoder, especially when executed on different platforms. By implementing a quantization scheme based on look-up tables (LUTs), we achieve precise quantization of GMM probability models with minimal performance degradation, approaching near losslessness. Moreover, our contribution offers a comprehensive quantization pipeline that facilitates dependable data transmission and harmonious synchronization of arithmetic coding algorithms between the encoder and decoder components. Empirical evidence highlights the effectiveness of our method, demonstrating seamless codec matching on diverse platforms and substantiating its capacity to enhance the integrity and security of compressed data. This work enhances the practical applicability of neural compression techniques across real-world scenarios. © 2023 IEEE.

The motion function and control of amphibious robots is a hot topic at present. The multi-function of robot is the development trend of robot. In this paper, based on the existing prototype bionic robot in the laboratory, the structure of the robot's mechanical leg is updated, and the underwater grasping function is successfully added. The new mechanical leg integrates a mechanical claw device, which makes use of the geometric characteristics of the parallelogram to shrink the mechanical claw, maximizes the use of the limited space below the robot, and greatly extends the effective length of the grasping end of the mechanical claw. At the same time, through static stress analysis and motion simulation, the designed structure was evaluated and analyzed, and the appropriate servo specifications and structure size were obtained, which verified that the current designed structure can complete the grasping task of 3kg objects. Finally, 3D printing technology was used to complete the production of the first version of the new mechanical leg, and the functional verification experiment of grasping objects of two different sizes was completed by using the steering gear control. © 2023 IEEE.

Computer-aided design (CAD) significantly enhances the efficiency, accuracy, and innovation of design processes by enabling precise 2D and 3D modeling, extensive analysis, and optimization. Existing methods for creating CAD models rely on latent vectors or point clouds, which are difficult to obtain and costly to store. Recent advances in Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have inspired researchers to use natural language instructions and images for CAD model construction. However, these models still struggle with inferring accurate 3D spatial location and orientation, leading to inaccuracies in determining the spatial 3D starting points and extrusion directions for constructing geometries. This work introduces CAD-GPT, a CAD synthesis method with spatial reasoning-enhanced MLLM that takes either a single image or a textual description as input. To achieve precise spatial inference, our approach introduces a 3D Modeling Spatial Mechanism. This method maps 3D spatial positions and 3D sketch plane rotation angles into a 1D linguistic feature space using a specialized spatial unfolding mechanism, while discretizing 2D sketch coordinates into an appropriate planar space to enable precise determination of spatial starting position, sketch orientation, and 2D sketch coordinate translations. Extensive experiments demonstrate that CAD-GPT consistently outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods in CAD model synthesis, both quantitatively and qualitatively. In Multi-access Edge Computing(MEC),to deal with multiple user equipment(UE)’s task offloading problem of parallel relationships under the multi-constraints,this paper proposes a cooperation partial task offloading method(named CPMM),aiming to reduce UE’s energy and computation consumption,while meeting the task completion delay as much as *** first studies the task offloading of single-UE and then considers the task offloading ofmulti-UE based on single-UE task *** the critical path algorithmto divide the modules into key and non-key *** to some constraints of UE-self when offloading tasks,it gives priority to non-key modules for offloading and uses the evaluation decision method to select some appropriate key modules for *** on fully considering the competition between multiple UEs for communication resources and MEC service resources,CPMM uses the weighted queuing method to alleviate the competition for communication resources and uses the branch decision algorithm to determine the location of module offloading by BS according to the MEC servers’*** achieves its goal by selecting reasonable modules to offload and using the cooperation ofUE,MEC,andCloudCenter to determine the execution location of *** experiments demonstrate that CPMM obtains superior performances in task computation consumption reducing around 6%on average,task completion delay reducing around 5%on average,and better task execution success rate than other similar methods.

Nonlinearity impairments and distortions have been bothering the bandwidth constrained passive optical network(PON)system for a long time and limiting the develop-ment of capacity in the PON *** other works concentrating on the exploration of the complex equalization algorithm,we investigate the potential of constellation shap-ing joint support vector machine(SVM)classification *** the transmitter side,the 8 quadrature amplitude modulation(8QAM)constellation is shaped into three designs to mitigate the influence of noise and distortions in the PON *** the receiver side,simple multi-class linear SVM classifiers are utilized to replace complex equalization *** results show that with the bandwidth of 25 GHz and overall bitrate of 50 Gbit/s,at 10 dBm input optical power of a 20 km standard single mode fiber(SSMF),and under a hard-decision forward error correction(FEC)threshold,transmission can be realized by employing Circular(4,4)shaped 8QAM joint SVM classifier at the maximal power budget of 37.5 dB.
