The goal of this study is to build a self-driving robot that can effectively navigate mazes by utilizing sophisticated computer vision algorithms with ROS2. Fusion 360 is used to create the robot model, and ROS2 launch files are used to initialize the sensor and control nodes. Attaining optimal path planning and accurate localization are the main objectives. The combination of novel motion planning based on the orientation of the robot with graph search algorithms like DFS, A∗, and Dijkstra's leads to effective maze discovery and traversal. Thorough testing shows that the system can successfully navigate unfamiliar maze configurations, demonstrating the dependability of ROS2 and modern robotics techniques. By completing this study, a foundation for future advancements in perception and planning to manage more complex settings is laid. © 2024 IEEE.

Yoga pose detection and classification have garnered considerable attention in recent years due to their significant applications in various domains, including fitness, health monitoring, and rehabilitation programs. Accurate detection and classification of yoga poses not only enhance the effectiveness of fitness regimes but also facilitate the assessment of practitioners' health and recovery processes. However, existing methods often struggle with the challenges posed by high-dimensional data processing, particularly in real-time applications. This paper introduces the Pose-Critical Keypoint Attention (PCKA) model, a novel approach designed to overcome the limitations of traditional methods in yoga pose analysis. The PCKA model employs an advanced attention mechanism to dynamically prioritize the most relevant keypoints from a comprehensive set of 33 extracted keypoints. This dynamic focus allows for efficient classification without the drawbacks associated with static keypoint reduction, ensuring that the model remains adaptable and robust across various poses. Extensive experiments evaluate the performance of the PCKA model against conventional classification frameworks. The results indicate that this model significantly outperforms traditional approaches, achieving an impressive accuracy of 91.08%, precision of 89.70%, recall of 91.93%, and an F1-score of 90.78%. These metrics demonstrate the model's capability to deliver accurate pose classification while providing realtime feedback for corrective measures, which is crucial for users striving to improve their yoga practices. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2024.

Mean policy-based proximal policy optimization for maneuvering decision in multi-UAV air combat

Autonomous maneuvering decision-making is a crucial technology for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to take the air domination in modern unmanned warfare. With the advantage of balancing exploration and exploitation, as well as the immediacy of end-to-end output by combining with deep neural network, multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) has made remarkable achievements in multi-UAV autonomous air combat maneuvering decision-making (MUAAMD). However, the implementation of effective cooperative policy learning remains a challenging issue for MARL methods with centralized training decentralized execution (CTDE) paradigm. This paper proposes a MARL-based method to improve the performance of cooperation in MUAAMD. Firstly, considering the constraints of dynamic and limited perception for UAVs in the realistic air combat scenario, the MUAAMD problem is formulated based on partially observable Markov game (POMG) model. Secondly, a novel efficient MARL algorithm named the mean policy-based proximal policy optimization (MP3O) is introduced. Specifically, a joint policy optimization mechanism is constructed by estimating the policies of neighboring agents in group as a mean-field approximation while training, which enables both centralized evaluation and improvement of cooperative policy under the CTDE paradigm. Thirdly, by combining with three improvement techniques, a cooperative decision-making framework for MUAAMD based on MP3O is proposed. Empirically, results of simulations and comparative experiments validate the effectiveness of proposed method in promoting cooperative policy learning in resolving MUAAMD problem. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Silicon/carbon composites are promising alternatives to current graphite anodes in commercial lithiumion batteries(LIBs)because of their high capacity and excellent ***,the unsatisfactory fastcharging capability and cycle stability of Si/C composites caused by slow charge transport capability and huge volume change under industrial electrode conditions severely hamper their ***,a novel Si/C anode was fabricated by homogeneously depositing amorphous C-Si nanolayers on graphite(C-Si@graphite).C-Si nanolayers with uniformly dispersed sub-nanometer Si particles in 3D carbon skeleton significantly boost electron and Li-ion transport and efficiently relieve Si's agglomeration and volume *** a result,the tailored C-Si@graphite electrodes show an excellent rate capacity(760.3 mAh·g^(-1)at 5.0C)and long cycle life of over 1000 cycles at 1.0C and800 cycles at 2.0C under industrial electrode *** addition,the assembled full cells(C-Si@graphite,anode;Li[Ni_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)]O_(2),cathode)present superior fastcharging capability(240.4 Wh·kg^(-1),charging for16.2 min,3.0C)and long cycle life(80.7%capacity retention after 500 cycles at 1.0C),demonstrating the massive potential of C-Si@graphite for practical application.

The multi-point dynamic aggregation(MPDA)problem is a challenging real-world *** the MPDA problem,the demands of tasks keep changing with their inherent incremental rates,while a heterogeneous robot fleet is required to travel between these tasks to change the time-varying state of each *** robots are allowed to collaborate on the same task or work separately until all tasks are *** is challenging to generate an effective task execution plan due to the tight coupling between robots abilities and tasks'incremental rates,and the complexity of robot *** effectiveness consideration,we use the variable length encoding to avoid redundancy in the solution *** creatively use the adaptive large neighborhood search(ALNS)framework to solve the MPDA *** the proposed algorithm,high-quality initial solutions are generated through multiple problem-specific solution construction *** heuristics are also used to fix the broken solution in the novel integrated decoding-construction repair process of the ALNS *** results of statistical analysis by the Wilcoxon rank-sum test demonstrate that the proposed ALNS can obtain better task execution plans than some state-of-the-art algorithms in most MPDA instances.

We propose a sound design concept that supports empathic communication between people with visual impairment (PVI) and interlocutors. The combination of sounds with short notes that repeat short notes (riff) representing the facial expressions of the interlocutor and PVI elicit synchronization and interlocking of the facial expressions between them. This synchronization fosters empathic communication between the PVI and the interlocutor. To demonstrate this concept, we conducted a participant experiment. We evaluated the auditory comfort of each riff pair generated from the facial expressions of the interlocutor and PVI. We compared the ratings of riff pairs when the facial expressions were synchronized and when they were not. The results confirmed that riff pairs with synchronized facial expressions were significantly more comfortable than those without synchronization, supporting our concept. © 2023 ACM.

In this research paper, the authors present a comprehensive overview of three key elements of Metaverse-as-a-service (MaaS) platforms: privacy and security, edge computing, and blockchain technology. The study begins by examining security concerns for wireless access to the Metaverse. It then delves into privacy and security issues within the Metaverse from data-centric, learning-centric, and human-centric perspectives. The authors propose novel and less-explored methods to aid mobile network operators and Metaverse service providers in creating secure and private MaaS platforms across various layers of the Metaverse, from access to social interactions. The article also explores the potential of edge computing to enhance various aspects of the Metaverse and the challenges associated with its implementation. Furthermore, the study examines the 10 main challenges of MaaS platforms and how blockchain technology can address them. Finally, the authors present future visions and recommendations, such as content-centric security and zero-trust Metaverse, as well as unresolved challenges in blockchain technology to provide insights for network designers in the Metaverse era. © 2023 IEEE.

Nowadays,the COVID-19 virus disease is spreading *** are some testing tools and kits available for diagnosing the virus,but it is in a lim-ited *** diagnose the presence of disease from radiological images,auto-mated COVID-19 diagnosis techniques are *** enhancement of AI(Artificial Intelligence)has been focused in previous research,which uses X-ray images for detecting *** most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever,dry cough and sore *** symptoms may lead to an increase in the rigorous type of pneumonia with a severe *** medical imaging is not suggested recently in Canada for critical COVID-19 diagnosis,computer-aided systems are implemented for the early identification of COVID-19,which aids in noticing the disease progression and thus decreases the death ***,a deep learning-based automated method for the extraction of features and classi-fication is enhanced for the detection of COVID-19 from the images of computer tomography(CT).The suggested method functions on the basis of three main pro-cesses:data preprocessing,the extraction of features and *** approach integrates the union of deep features with the help of Inception 14 and VGG-16 *** last,a classifier of Multi-scale Improved ResNet(MSI-ResNet)is developed to detect and classify the CT images into unique labels of *** the support of available open-source COVID-CT datasets that consists of 760 CT pictures,the investigational validation of the suggested method is *** experimental results reveal that the proposed approach offers greater performance with high specificity,accuracy and sensitivity.
