Random Staircase Generator Matrix Codes: Coding Theorem, Performance Analysis, and Code Design

In this paper, we present a class of codes, referred to as random staircase generator matrix codes (SGMCs), which have staircase-like generator matrices. In the infinite-length region, we prove that the random SGMC is capacity-achieving over binary-input output-symmetric (BIOS) channels. In the finite-length region, we propose the generalized representative ordered statistics decoding with local constraints (LC-ROSD) algorithm for the SGMCs. The most distinguished feature of the SGMCs with LC-ROSD is that the staircase-like matrices enable parallel implementation of the Gaussian elimination (GE), avoiding the serial GE of conventional OSD and supporting a potential low decoding latency, as implied from simulations. To analyze the performance of random SGMCs in the finite-length region, we derive the ensemble weight spectrum and invoke the conventional union bound. We also derive a partially random coding union (RCU) bound, which is tighter than the conventional one and is used as a criterion to design the SGMCs. Staircase-like generator matrices allow us to derive a series of (tighter and tighter) lower bounds based on the second-order Bonferroni inequality with the incremental number of codewords. The numerical results show that the decoding performance can match well with the proposed partially RCU bound for different code rates and different profiles. The numerical results also show that the tailored SGMCs with the LC-ROSD algorithm can approach the finite-length performance bound, outperforming the 5G low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, 5G polar codes, and Reed-Muller (RM) codes. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Diffusion Models Meet Network Management: Improving Traffic Matrix Analysis with Diffusion-Based Approach

Due to network operation and maintenance relying heavily on network traffic monitoring, traffic matrix analysis has been one of the most crucial issues for network management related tasks. However, it is challenging to reliably obtain the precise measurement in computer networks because of the high measurement cost, and the unavoidable transmission loss. Although some methods proposed in recent years allowed estimating network traffic from partial flow-level or link-level measurements, they often perform poorly for traffic matrix estimation nowadays. Despite strong assumptions like low-rank structure and the prior distribution, existing techniques are usually task-specific and tend to be significantly worse as modern network communication is extremely complicated and dynamic. To address the dilemma, this paper proposed a diffusion-based traffic matrix analysis framework named Diffusion-TM, which leverages problem-agnostic diffusion to notably elevate the estimation performance in both traffic distribution and accuracy. The novel framework not only takes advantage of the powerful generative ability of diffusion models to produce realistic network traffic, but also leverages the denoising process to unbiasedly estimate all end-to-end traffic in a plug-and-play manner under theoretical guarantee. Moreover, taking into account that compiling an intact traffic dataset is usually infeasible, we also propose a two-stage training scheme to make our framework be insensitive to missing values in the dataset. With extensive experiments with real-world datasets, we illustrate the effectiveness of Diffusion-TM on several tasks. Moreover, the results also demonstrate that our method can obtain promising results even with 5% known values left in the datasets. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Digital light processing(DLP) 3D printing has a huge potential for manufacturing intricate and customized ceramic parts with high precision and cost-effectiveness. Research in this field contributes to material innovation,opening the avenues for new process designs in both scientific and industrial sectors. However, the implementation of DLP 3D printing technology in ceramic research has not yet reached the maturity level as that in polymer and tissue engineering. Necessarily, a holistic in-depth literature reporting the successful integration of alumina ceramics within DLP 3D printing technology is urgently needed. This review, systematic examines recent progress in DLP technology, focusing on photopolymer resins that incorporate UV-sensitive monomers, photoinitiators, and dispersants, as well as their synergistic effects on achieving high-quality printing, desirable material properties, and enhanced performance. Further, the review discusses key factors including post-processing characteristics such as debinding and sintering, which influence microstructure, and defect formation including microcracks, porosity and voids. Finally, the challenges associated with printing and sintering are highlighted,aiming to identify focused focused development pathways and potential solution to optimize outcomes. This analysis clarifies existing challenges and also propsoes future applications for DLP technology in the aluminaceramic field.

In high-risk industrial environments like nuclear power plants, precise defect identification and localization are essential for maintaining production stability and safety. However, the complexity of such a harsh environment leads to significant variations in the shape and size of the defects. To address this challenge, we propose the multivariate time series segmentation network(MSSN), which adopts a multiscale convolutional network with multi-stage and depth-separable convolutions for efficient feature extraction through variable-length templates. To tackle the classification difficulty caused by structural signal variance, MSSN employs logarithmic normalization to adjust instance distributions. Furthermore, it integrates classification with smoothing loss functions to accurately identify defect segments amid similar structural and defect signal subsequences. Our algorithm evaluated on both the Mackey-Glass dataset and industrial dataset achieves over 95% localization and demonstrates the capture capability on the synthetic dataset. In a nuclear plant's heat transfer tube dataset, it captures 90% of defect instances with75% middle localization F1 score.

Prescribed-Time Fuzzy Optimal Containment Control for Multiagent systems With Deferred Output Constraints: An Output Mask Method

This article studies the adaptive prescribed-time fuzzy optimal containment control issue for multiagent systems (MASs) with deferred output constraints based on the reinforcement learning (RL) algorithm. Given that agents require confidential state messages, an output mask scheme is delicately synthesized to ensure that other agents cannot identify the true state message, potentially adding to the sophistication of the containment control process of MAS. Then, an adaptive prescribed-time fuzzy optimal containment control strategy is developed that counts on the masked state of neighboring agents. In addition, an auxiliary error via the shifting function is incorporated into the nonlinear mapping function to manage error constraints, not only avoiding the feasibility criteria but also realizing the unified control. Notably, an emerging intermediate variable is executed to tackle the issue of unknown control gains acting on the RL-based recursive design procedure. Moreover, the drawback of semiglobal boundedness of the error surface induced by dynamic surface control can be avoided with the aid of the novel Lyapunov-like energy candidate. With the assistance of the practical prescribed-time stability, it can be guaranteed that the original state value of each agent remains undisclosed, and the output of the followers can be centered on a convex hull made up of leaders within a prescribed time. Herein, the efficacy of the suggested tactic is exemplified through two illustrative examples. © 1993-2012 IEEE.

Distributed observer-based prescribed-time affine formation control for underactuated unmanned surface vessels under DoS attack

This study addresses the control challenges of distributed prescribed-time maneuvers for underactuated unmanned surface vessels (USVs) operating in affine formation under adverse conditions, including ocean disturbances, unmodeled dynamics, and denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. The research develops a control scheme that enables USVs to perform complex maneuvers such as translation, shearing, rotation, and scaling, despite intermittent communication failures due to periodic DoS attacks. The approach integrates a distributed prescribed-time observer (DPTO) for each vessel to monitor local time-varying desired states, coupled with an adaptive prescribed-time local tracking control (APTLTC) strategy that drives the USV to track the desired states. The effectiveness and robustness of this control solution are validated through theoretical analysis and simulation, demonstrating significant resilience against network disruptions. This study contributes to safer maritime operations by providing a robust control framework for underactuated USVs under cyber-physical threats. © 2025

The future sixth-generation(6G) paradigm aims to seamlessly integrate communication and environmental sensing capabilities into a single radio signal, promising improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness through simultaneous data communications and environmental perception. At the core of this evolution, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) and its advanced waveforms emerge as pivotal for integrated sensing and communications(ISAC). This study introduces a concise and unified ISAC waveform design framework based on orthogonal multicarriers. This framework supports versatile applications of OFDM and its derivative waveforms within a generalized ISAC system, marking a significant leap in integrating communication and sensing capabilities. A distinguishing feature of this framework is its adaptability,allowing users to intelligently select modulation strategies based on their specific environmental needs. This adaptability optimizes performance across diverse scenarios. Central to our innovations is the proposal of discrete Fourier transformspread OFDM with index modulation(DFT-S-OFDM-IM). This framework is paired with newly proposed signal processing methods for single-input single-output and multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) systems. Extensive evaluations highlight DFT-S-OFDM-IM's superiority, including dramatically reduced peak-to-average power ratios(PAPRs), competitive communication performance, and exceptional sensing capabilities, striking an elegant balance between communication capacity and environmental sensing precision.

To improve the quality of remote sensing images,a novel on-orbit attitude planning method for Earth observation imaging with star-based geometric calibration is presented in this *** traditional imaging processes,the proposed method includes both pre-calibration and post-calibration stages to enhance the accuracy of satellite geometric positioning.A multiple-constraint attitude planning algorithm was developed to ensure star-based calibration,wherein the satellite camera and star sensors simultaneously capture the images of *** integration of cameras and multiple star sensors enables effective attitude *** the Earth imaging stage,a fast on-orbit attitude planning algorithm was developed to determine the satellite attitude and the optimal imaging times for ground *** with existing methods,the fast on-orbit attitude planning algorithm can significantly reduce computational time and resource consumption via initial value selection and *** demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed attitude planning method,which was successfully applied to Wuhan 1 satellite.
