Realizing Plain Optimization of the Thermoelectric Properties in BiCuSeO Oxide via Self-Substitution-Induced Lattice Dislocations

Seeking new strategies to tune the intrinsic defect and optimize the thermoelectric performance via no or less use of external doped elements(i.e.,plain optimization)is an important method to realize the sustainable development of thermoelectric ***,creating dislocation defects in oxide systems is quite challenging because the rigid and stiff ionic/covalent bonds can hardly tolerate the large strain energy associated with ***,taking BiCuSe_(O) oxide as an example,the present work reports a successful construction of dense lattice dislocations in BiCuSe_(O) by self-doping of Se at the O site(i.e.,Se_(O) self-substitution),and achieves plain optimization of the thermoelectric properties with only external Pb *** to the self-substitution-induced large lattice distortion and the potential reinforcement effect by Pb doping,high-density(about 3.0×10^(14 )m^(−2))dislocations form in the grains,which enhances the scattering strength of mid-frequency phonon and results in a substantial low lattice thermal conductivity of 0.38 W m^(−1) K^(−1) at 823 K in Pb-doped BiCuSe_(O).Meanwhile,PbBi doping and Cu vacancy markedly improve the electrical conductivity while maintaining a competitively high Seebeck coefficient,thereby contributing to a highest power factor of 942μW m^(−1) K^(−2).Finally,a remarkably enhanced zT value of 1.32 is obtained at 823 K in Bi_(0.94)Pb_(0.06)Cu_(0.97)Se_(1.05)O_(0.95) with almost compositional *** high-density dislocation structure reported in this work will also provide a good inspiration for the design and construction of dislocations in other oxide systems.

Biological undulation enables legless creatures to move naturally,and robustly in various ***,many kinds of undulating robots have been ***,the fundamental mechanism of biological undulation gait generation has not yet been well explained,which hinders deepening the investigation and optimization of these *** developing a theory for explaining this biological behavior,which will further guide the design of artificial undulation systems,we propose a hypothesis based on both biological findings and previous robotics *** verify the hypothesis,we investigate embodied intelligence of undulation locomotion via a mechanical *** experimental study,we observe the phenomenon that undulation gait is a production of the source,which is the torque inputs,and the filter,which is the natural dynamics of the *** further derive a general mathematical model and conduct morphological computation *** a simple model to a complicated system,our work explores the principles of undulation gait *** findings significantly simplify the control system design of artificial undulating systems.

Underwater reverberation environments that satisfy the conditions of uniformity and isotropy of the diffuse field can be used to measure the acoustic characteristics of underwater *** study combines two practical indicators—the standard deviation of the absolute sound pressure field(to indicate uniformity)and the analysis of the wavenumber spectrum in the spherical harmonics domain(to indicate isotropy)—for an accurate evaluation of the diffusion of the sound field in a reverberation tank.A method is proposed that can improve the narrow-band diffusion of the sound field by employing a randomly fluctuating *** acoustic experiment was performed in a reverberation water tank(1.2 m×1 m×0.8 m),where a randomly fluctuating surface was generated by making *** experimental results show that as the wave motion contributes effectively to the random reflection of sound rays in all directions,the uniformity and isotropy are improved significantly when the surface is fluctuating *** work helps to ensure accurate measurements of the characteristics of underwater targets in reverberation tanks.

Effectively reconstructing 3D hyperspectral images (HSIs) from 2D measurements presents a significant challenge in Coded Aperture Snapshot Spectral Imaging (CASSI) systems. While recent transformers exhibit potential in HSI reconstruction, they often suffer from inadequate exploration of multi-scale spatial-spectral self-similarity, leading to mean effects and information loss. Additionally, these methods struggle with insufficient modeling of the degradation inherent in the compressive imaging process. To address these issues, we propose a novel Mask-guided Multi-scale Spatial-Spectral Transformer (MMSST). Specifically, we introduce a Degradation Aware Mask Attention (DAMA) module to incorporate degradation information of the compressive imaging process. Furthermore, MMSST leverages Local-Regional SpAtial attention (LRSA) and Global-Regional SpEctral attention (GRSE) to effectively exploit multi-scale self-similarity across spatial and spectral dimensions. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our MMSST. © 2025 IEEE.

A merged machine learning model for seasonal climate prediction in China

Improving the current level of skill in seasonal climate prediction is urgent for achieving sustainable socioeconomic development, and this is especially true in China where meteorological disasters are experienced frequently. In this study, based upon big climate data and traditional statistical prediction experiences, a merged machine learning model(Y-model) was developed to address this, as well as to further explore unknown potential predictors. In Y-model, empirical orthogonal function analysis was firstly applied to reduce the data dimensionality of the target predictand(temperature and precipitation in the four seasons over China). Image recognition techniques were used to automatically identify possible predictors from the big climate data. These predictors, associated with significant circulation anomalies, were recombined into a large ensemble according to different threshold settings for five factors determining the statistical forecast skill. Facebook Prophet was chosen to conduct the independent hindcasts for each season's climate at a lead time of two months. During 2011–2022, the seasonal climate in China was skillfully predicted by Y-model, with an averaged pattern correlation coefficient skill of 0.60 for temperature and 0.24 for precipitation, outperforming CFSv2. Potential predictor analysis for recent extreme events suggested that prior signals from the Indian Ocean and the stratosphere were important for determining the super Mei-yu in 2020, while the prior sea surface temperature over the western Pacific and the soil temperature over West Asia may have contributed to the extreme high temperatures in 2022. Our study provides new insights for seasonal climate prediction in China.

Efficient identity-based ring identification scheme and identity-based ring signature scheme on lattices

Identity-based cryptography (IBC) can be applied to scenarios that involve a large number of public keys in each execution. In this paper, we propose an efficient identity-based ring signature scheme on lattices with signature size logarithmic to the cardinality of the ring. To this end, we first construct an efficient identity-based ring identification scheme by combining preimage sampling algorithms and a zero-knowledge proof system for a tree-based accumulator. Then we apply the Fiat-Shamir transformation and obtain a secure identity-based ring signature scheme. We prove its security in the random oracle model under the small integer solution assumption. © 2023 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.. All rights reserved.

The additive manufacturing of multi-principal element alloys has remarkable potential for industrial *** this study,a(CoCrNi)_(94)Al_(3)Ti_(3)medium-entropy alloy(MEA)with adequate strength-ductility synergy was prepared via laser powder bed *** microstructural evolution,mechanical property,and deformation mechanisms of the MEA were investigated after post annealing for a short period(0.5 h)at a temperature range of 773-1373 K using various microstructural characterization techniques and quantitative *** static recrystallization temperature of the(CoCrNi)_(94)Al_(3)Ti_(3)MEA ranged from 973 to 1073 *** average grain size first decreased and then increased,while the dislocation den-sity persistently decreased and texture gradually weakened with increasing annealing ***-richσ-phase precipitates formed after 1073 K and then gradually dissolved at 1373 K,while Ni,Al,and Ti elements were aggregated to form a small amount of fine L1_(2)coherent precipitates with an aver-age diameter of approximately 70 nm at 1373 *** evolution of the dislocation density,grain size,and precipitates significantly influenced the propensity of deformation twins and stacking faults,which consequently affected the strain hardening behavior and mechanical *** quantitative calcu-lation of strengthening mechanisms showed that dislocation strengthening played a dominant role at annealing temperatures below 1073 K,and it significantly weakened at 1373 *** and grain boundary strengthening both markedly increased owing to the formation of precipitation particles and recrystallization-induced grain refinement after annealing at 1073 K.
