A cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) reflective display is a device that employs CLC to reflect external ambient light, thereby facilitating the transfer of information. However, traditional CLC reflective displays exhibit a relatively slow response speed and are unable to be displayed in dark environments. Quantum dots (QDs), which are nanoparticles with excellent luminescence performance, can be doped to enhance device performance and the display effect. This paper proposes a multimode reflective display device (MRDE) that can respond rapidly to temperature and low-frequency AC voltage, and can realise four modes of display: reflective mode, transmissive mode, scattering mode and fluorescent mode. These modes can be converted to enhance the display effect and expand the device's application range in diverse scenarios. In reflective mode, MRDE is capable of shifting between reflective, scattering mode and transmissive modes in response to changes in temperature and voltage, and of encrypting and decrypting information. In fluorescent mode, the device is capable of displaying in dim environments, and the emission wavelength can be red-shifted from 628 nm to 636 nm within the temperature range of 248 K to 373 K. Additionally, it can provide an early warning for low and high temperature environments. The device is capable of providing early warning and encryption of information in low and high temperature environments. This provides a theoretical basis and guidance for the preparation of new devices with improved display performance, multifunctional integration, and temperature-responsive information encryption. © 2025 SPIE.

Secure location-aware geocast routing in Internet of Vehicles

Efficient message dissemination in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) relies on robust connectivity between neighboring vehicular nodes, yet it is often compromised by malicious intruders. While recent literature proposes various approaches to enhance geocasting performance, security considerations for connectivity are often overlooked. To address this gap, we propose the Secure Location-Aware Cache Agent based Geocast Routing (SL-CAGR) protocol, emphasizing an Intrusion Prevention Technique (IPT) for message integrity preservation and a Connectivity Reliant Packet Forwarding (CRPF) algorithm for improved VANET connectivity. Our protocol introduces a network model for cache agent-based geocast routing on the Internet of Vehicle (IoV) environment, implements IPT using Diffie-Hellman digital signatures, and presents a secure geocast routing strategy focusing on re-caching and cache agent selection. Empirical simulations demonstrate SL-CAGR's superiority in packet delivery ratio, packet loss, duplication, hop count, end-to-end delay, and network load compared to these protocols. Simulation results demonstrate that SL-CAGR outperforms state-of-the-art techniques like CAG, CTRC, and D-Flooding. SL-CAGR stands out by merging intrusion prevention, secure geocast routing, and cache agent selection, ensuring robust security and efficiency in VANETs. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

TERMS: Task management policies to achieve high performance for mixed workloads using surplus resources

Resource contentions and performance interferences can lead to workload performance degradation in mixed-workload deployment clusters. Previous work guarantees the resource requirements of latency-sensitive tasks and reduces performance losses to batch jobs by reclaiming surplus resources from over-provisioned tasks. While the fragmentation of resources leads to a mismatch between provisioned resources and task requirements, resulting in high operation overheads and losses of task fairness. This paper proposes TERMS, the task management policies based on task relevance, resource distribution, and task fairness to achieve efficient and low-cost task management. TERMS mainly includes three types of management policies. The task scheduling policy can schedule new tasks according to task relevance. Task selection strategies select tasks for resource provisioning and task resumption based on resource requirements and task fairness. If necessary, the node selection strategy can be used to choose befitting target nodes based on task relevance and node resource information for task migration when eliminating straggler tasks. Evaluation results show that TERMS can further improve the performance of latency-sensitive services and batch jobs, reduce management overheads, and avoid operation failures. © 2022 Elsevier Inc.

In order to provide reliability and safety assessments for safety-critical systems, Model-Based Safety Analysis (MBSA) methods have been developed, of which AltaRica3.0 is one representative method. However, there are still several limitations. The most important one is its inability to verify system behaviors when the system has stochastic behaviors. As a widely used safety analysis and evaluation software, SBIP is an emphasis on formal modeling and statistical analysis of safety-critical systems exhibiting stochastic behaviors. In this paper, we present a transformation approach that integrates the advantages of AltaRica3.0 and SBIP, realizes the function of conducting multiple analyses by modeling the system only once, reduces the modeling cost of safety-critical systems, and improves the reliability and safety analysis efficiency of safety-critical systems. © 2023 SPIE.

Tomato leaf diseases significantly impact crop production,necessitating early detection for sustainable *** Learning(DL)has recently shown excellent results in identifying and classifying tomato leaf ***,current DL methods often require substantial computational resources,hindering their application on resource-constrained *** propose the Deep Tomato Detection Network(DTomatoDNet),a lightweight DL-based framework comprising 19 learnable layers for efficient tomato leaf disease classification to overcome *** Convn kernels used in the proposed(DTomatoDNet)framework is 1×1,which reduces the number of parameters and helps in more detailed and descriptive feature extraction for *** proposed DTomatoDNet model is trained from scratch to determine the classification success rate.10,000 tomato leaf images(1000 images per class)from the publicly accessible dataset,covering one healthy category and nine disease categories,are utilized in training the proposed DTomatoDNet *** specifically,we classified tomato leaf images into Target Spot(TS),Early Blight(EB),Late Blight(LB),Bacterial Spot(BS),Leaf Mold(LM),Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus(YLCV),Septoria Leaf Spot(SLS),Spider Mites(SM),Tomato Mosaic Virus(MV),and Tomato Healthy(H).The proposed DTomatoDNet approach obtains a classification accuracy of 99.34%,demonstrating excellent accuracy in differentiating between tomato *** model could be used on mobile platforms because it is lightweight and designed with fewer *** farmers can utilize the proposed DTomatoDNet methodology to detect disease more quickly and easily once it has been integrated into mobile platforms by developing a mobile application.

Unsupervised Remote sensing change detection is very important because it addresses the problem of scarcity in the data availability in training. Some of the researchers are successful in finding the change regions but are not able to classify what changes happened in those regions. Nearly every study faces challenges in generalizing the fluctuations occurring during both the growing and non-growing seasons. The current study utilizes a novel architecture consisting of two parts. The first part involves proposing change regions through the change vector calculation method and applying Otsu's Thresholding on the calculated change vectors, while the second part entails classifying these proposed change regions into vegetation change, building change, and non-change regions. non-change region classification process aims to eliminate false changes identified by the change vector analysis and Otsu's Thresholding. In the second stage, NDVI, NDWI, and NDMI indices are compared and the resulting change mask obtained is subjected for element-wise multiplication operation with the change mask obtained in the first stage. The study addressed the challenge of generalizing short-term changes, such as those occurring during the growing and non-growing seasons, by computing the median of pixels over a time range encompassing both types of changes. Additionally, the method was fine-tuned using NIT Puducherry data from two time periods. Subsequently, the entire Karaikal district was considered to examine the changes comprehensively. The present study outperformed different state of the art methods like CVI_OTSU, PCI_Kmeans, Continuous Change Detection and Classification (CCDC). The present study got better results with an accuracy of 86.07 and kappa coefficient of 0.7898. © 2024 IEEE.

Underwater acoustic (UWA) communication schemes including multiple-input-multiple-output orthogonal signal division multiplexing (MIMO-OSDM) are crucial for the wireless operation of autonomous unmanned vehicles and remotely operated vehicles. This paper presents an efficient regularization parameter determination for MIMO-OSDM to design a reliable communication system. Recent studies have revealed that utilizing sparsity, a physical nature of the UWA channel can improve communication quality. While the combination of MIMO-OSDM and basis pursuit denoising (BPDN) enables the UWA communication that accounts for channel sparsity, this approach requires the prior simulation to obtain a database to fine-tune linear coefficients which decide the regularization parameter of BPDN. To reduce computational cost without sacrificing communication quality, we propose the statistical solution: an application of Stein's unbiased risk estimate (SURE) for MIMO-OSDM using BPDN aiming for parameter determination through a minimization of the channel estimation error. Our simulation results demonstrated that the proposed parameter determinator serves as an estimator of channel estimation error. Our experimental results demonstrated that the proposed channel estimator using SURE achieved almost the same communication quality and demodulation performance as the existing method without prior database creation. © 2025 IEEE.

The development of Decision Support systems (DSS) for several companies operating in sectors such as tourism, healthcare, or others, presents significant challenges due to the nature of their multi-component architecture. A typical DSS consists of a data component, a model component incorporating machine learning and deep learning techniques, and a user interface component, each one requires diverse technologies. This complexity increases development time and effort, hindering the efficient design of DSS tailored to specific domains like tourism, where real-time decision-making is essential. One promising approach to overcome these challenges is the use of Domain-Specific Languages (DSLs). DSLs allow developers to model and generate code more efficiently by providing high-level abstractions suited to the domain. By leveraging DSLs, it is possible to simplify the design process and automate the generation of code or parts of the DSS, thereby reducing the overall complexity and time required for development. This paper proposes a metamodel for designing DSS, specifically for the Smart Tourism sector. The metamodel serves as a foundation for the creation of DSL. The goal is to provide a solution to facilitate the development of DSS for the demands of tourism. The paper outlines the key concepts, approach, and results, presenting the first element of the proposed DSL which is the metamodel capturing the essential components and relationships for DSS in Smart Tourism. © 2024 IEEE.
