Social coding paradigm is reshaping the distributed soft- ware development with a surprising speed in recent years. Github, a remarkable social coding community, attracts a huge number of developers in a short time. Various kinds of social networks are formed based on social activities among developers. Why this new paradigm can achieve such a great success in attracting external developers, and how they are connected in such a massive community, are interesting questions for revealing power of social coding paradigm. In this paper, we firstly compare the growth curves of project and user in GitHub with three traditional open source software communities to explore differences of their growth modes. We find an explosive growth of the users in GitHub and introduce the Diffusion of Innovation theory to illustrate intrinsic sociological basis of this phenomenon. Secondly, we construct follow-networks according to the follow behaviors among developers in GitHub. Finally, we present four typical social behavior patterns by mining follow-networks containing independence-pattern, group-pattern, star-pattern and hub-pattern. This study can provide several instructions of crowd collaboration to newcomers. According to the typical behavior patterns, the community manager could design corresponding assistive tools for developers. Copyright 2014 ACM.

Currently, the performance problems of software systems gets more and more attentions. Among various diagnosis methods based on system traces, principal component analysis (PCA) based methods are widely used due to the high accuracy of the diagnosis results and requiring no specific domain knowledge. However, according to our experiments, we have validated several shortcomings existed in PCA-based methods, including requiring traces with a same call sequence, inefficiency when the traces are long, and missing performance problems. To cope with these issues, we introduce a segmentation based online diagnosis method in this poster. © 2015 IEEE.

Real-life behaviors shown by the mobile users typically exhibit plenty noises, making it hard to construct an effective recommendation engine. In this paper, we present a fused model based on the LR algorithm and the GBDT algorithm to recommend vertical industry commodities in a mobile setting. A set of specifically designed methods are proposed to deal with the data preprocessing and feature extraction problem for the mobile recommendation scenario. The proposed method is evaluated on a large scale real-world dataset provided by the Alibaba mobile shopping department. Result on the F1 score has seen an improvement of 2%-36% compared with the baseline. © 2016 IEEE.

This paper attempts to take a comprehensive look at the challenges of representing the spatio-temporal structures and dynamic processes that define a city’s overall characteristics. For the task of urban planning and urban operation, we take the stance that even if the necessary representations of these structures and processes can be achieved, the most important representation of the relevant mindsets of the citizens are, unfortunately, mostly neglected. After a review of major "traditional" urban models of structures behind urban scale, form, and dynamics, we turn to major recent modeling approaches triggered by recent advances in AI that enable multimodal generative models. Some of these models can create representations of geometries, networks and images, and reason flexibly at a human-compatible semantic level. They provide huge amounts of knowledge extracted from huge collections of text and image documents and cover the required rich representation spectrum including geographic knowledge by different knowledge sources, degrees of granularity and scales. We then discuss what these new opportunities mean for coping with the modeling challenges posed by cities, in particular with regard to the role and impact of citizens and their interactions within the city infrastructure. We propose to integrate these possibilities with existing approaches, such as agent-based models, which opens up new modeling spaces including rich citizen models which are able to also represent social interactions. Finally, we put forward some thoughts about a vision of a "social AI in a city ecosystem" that adds relevant citizen models to state-of-the-art structural and process models. This extended city representation will enable urban planners to establish citizen-oriented planning of city infrastructures, to make them into inviting environments that reconcile and foster human culture, city resilience and sustainability. © 2025, CC BY-NC-ND.

Insects build architecturally complex nests and search for remote food by collaboration work despite their limited sensors, minimal individual intelligence and the lack of a central control system. Insets' collaborations emerge as a response of the individual insects to Stigmergy. A sign-based model of Stigmergy to discuss collaboration is proposed in this paper where we picked up "sign" as a key notion to understand it. Therefore, sign is the link of all the components in a Stigmergic complex adaptive system. Based on this understanding, we propose a definition that reveals the nature of signs and exploit the significations and relationships carried by the notion of sign. Then, a sign-based model of Stigmergy is consequently reached, which captures the essentials of Stigmergy. A basic architecture of Stigmergy as well as its constituents are presented and discussed. At last, some applications of the model are discussed. © 2010 Crown Copyright.

Estimating human pose in complex multi-frame situations is a challenging task and has attracted intensive research by many researchers. Although 3D human pose estimation methods have achieved remarkable results in scenes based on single images, their performance often fails once these model transformations are applied to video sequences. Common problems with these models include inability to cope with motion blur, out-of-focus videos, and occlusion of human poses. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a feature extraction and representation model MHMF, which is used in the feature extraction stage of the model. The initial features extracted by the backbone network HRNet-w32 are guided by the heat map to the attention layer, which improves the network's attention to important areas for predicting key points of human posture. At the same time, the integration of the aggregation heat map and the backbone network heat map improves the spatiotemporal consistency of the key points. In addition, to improve the accuracy of mesh pose estimation under occlusion, this paper proposes a transformer-based NewDSTformer model. By adjusting the structure of the Transformer encoder, increasing the encoder level and combining it with the dynamic progressive attention masking method. The model can adapt to different input situations, handle the positional relationship of local key points, and be able to perform accurate detection even under occlusion. It was evaluated on the 3DPW data set and improved the accuracy by $0.3 \%$, indicating that this paper effectively improved the performance of 3D human mesh reconstruction. © 2024 IEEE.

Functional programming languages have a long history and receive more and more attention today. The paper focuses on the development of functional languages and aims to introduce the concepts, such as higher-order functions, lazy evaluation, data type, and pattern matching. We also review the evolution of functional programming languages from lambda calculus, Lisp to Haskell. Based on the analysis of leading papers published on ACM conferences, we survey 5 active research areas: monads, verification, type system, data parallelism, and application of functional programming languages and discuss the limitation of functional programming languages. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.

Compiler optimization of array-intensive programs involves extensive application of loop transformations and arithmetic transformations. Hence, translation validation of array-intensive programs requires manipulation of intervals of integers (representing domains of array indices) and relations over such intervals to account for loop transformations and simplification of arithmetic expressions to handle arithmetic transformations. A major obstacle for verification of such programs is posed by the presence of recurrences, whereby an element of an array gets defined in a statement S inside a loop in terms of some other element(s) of the same array which have been previously defined through the same statement S. Recurrences lead to cycles in the data-dependence graph of a program which make dependence analyses and simplifications (through closed-form representations) of the data transformations difficult. Another technique which works better for recurrences does not handle arithmetic transformations. In this work, array data-dependence graphs (ADDGs) are used to represent both the original and the optimized versions of the program and a validation scheme is proposed where the cycles due to recurrences in the ADDGs are suitably abstracted as acyclic subgraphs. Thus, this work provides a unified equivalence checking framework to handle loop and arithmetic transformations along with most of the recurrences - this combination of features had not been achieved by a single verification technique earlier. ©2016 ACM.

Research papers are frequently requested in digital library. When users query for documents about a research problem, users usually want all the related documents and the citations with the relations among them, to enable the user know the development of the research area. Traditional recommendation techniques are mainly based on similarity among users or documents to do recommendation. They do not use the relationships among documents and, especially, cannot provide topology structure of related documents to the user. This paper proposes a new recommendation technique based on reference graph of documents. Combined with traditional recommendation techniques, it can recommend research paper more completely, accurately and clearly. Experimental results show that the reference graph based recommendation technique is more effective. © 2010 IEEE.

Data value prediction has been widely accepted as an effective mechanism to break data hazards for high performance processor design. Several works have reported promising performance potential. However, there is hardly enough information that is presented in a clear way about performance comparison of these prediction mechanisms. This paper investigates the performance impact of four previously proposed value predictors, namely last value predictor, stride value predictor, two-level value predictor and hybrid (stride+two-level) predictor. The impact of misprediction penalty, which has been frequently ignored, is discussed in detail. Several other implementation issues, including instruction window size, issue width and branch predictor are also addressed and simulated. Simulation results indicate that data value predictors act differently under different configurations. In some cases, simpler schemes may be more beneficial than complicated ones. In some particular cases, value prediction may have negative impact on performance. © 2005 Springer science + Business Media, Inc.
