Real-time, accurate and rapid detection of defects in nickel foam is a challenging task and plays a crucial role in the quality control of nickel foam production. Currently, research on deep learning-based industrial defect detection usually uses large neural network models to pursue high accuracy, ignoring model complexity and hardware requirements. In order to reduce the application cost, the Detection method of nickel foam foreign matter based on double-branch lightweight network is proposed. First, a lightweight backbone convolutional network is designed to extract features, which reduces computational complexity while effectively extracting features. Then, atrous convolution is used to further optimize the model accuracy, increasing the receptive field of the convolution without losing information, and ensuring the quality of the extracted features. Finally, we use a dual-branch structure for segmentation and classification to dynamically query the detection results of defects. The experimental results on the nickel foam defect dataset show that our model is able to achieve high detection accuracy and single-sheet detection rate, and has strong competitive accuracy and lower detection rate compared with state-of-the-art detectors amount of calculation. © 2022 IEEE.

DMSA: DYNAMIC MULTI-SCALE UNSUPERVISED SEMANTIC SEGMENTATION BASED ON ADAPTIVE AFFINITY

The proposed method in this paper proposes an end-to-end unsupervised semantic segmentation architecture DMSA based on four loss functions. The framework uses Atrous Spatial Pyramid Pooling (ASPP) module to enhance feature extraction. At the same time, a dynamic dilation strategy is designed to better capture multi-scale context information. Secondly, a Pixel-Adaptive Refinement (PAR) module is introduced, which can adaptively refine the initial pseudo labels after feature fusion to obtain high quality pseudo labels. Experiments show that the proposed DSMA framework is superior to the existing methods on the saliency dataset. On the COCO 80 dataset, the MIoU is improved by 2.0, and the accuracy is improved by 5.39. On the Pascal VOC 2012 Augmented dataset, the MIoU is improved by 4.9, and the accuracy is improved by 3.4. In addition, the convergence speed of the model is also greatly improved after the introduction of the PAR module. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In a Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA), reactor core temperatures can rise rapidly, leading to potential fuel damage and radioactive material release. This research presents a groundbreaking method that combines the power of Monte Carlo Sampling and Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) to simulate and effectively address the challenging Loss of Coolant Accidents (LOCA) in nuclear reactors. In the event of a LOCA, reactor core temperatures can soar rapidly, posing a significant threat to fuel integrity and potentially leading to the release of radioactive materials. By leveraging the strengths of both Monte Carlo Sampling and PINNs, this approach aims to provide a comprehensive and accurate simulation framework for assessing and mitigating the consequences of such accidents. The method yields high prediction accuracy (MAE: 0.033, RMSE: 0.098, R2: 0.814) and demonstrates robustness through transfer learning, maintaining strong performance (MAE: 0.064, RMSE: 0.163, R 2 : 0.735).

Since data outsourcing poses privacy concerns with data leakage, searchable symmetric encryption (SSE) has emerged as a powerful solution that enables clients to perform query operations on encrypted data while preserving their privacy. Dynamic SSE schemes have been proposed to handle update operations. However, it is shown that updates might increase the risk of information leakage. Meanwhile, to meet the requirement of real-world applications, it is desirable to have the searchable encryption scheme which supports both multiple clients and multi-keyword queries. To address these issues, this paper proposes MMDSSE, a multi-client forward secure dynamic SSE scheme that supports multi-keyword queries. MMDSSE allows the clients narrow down the results by providing an arbitrary subset of the entire archive, and thus suitable for cloud storage environment. Security analysis and experimental evaluations show that MMDSSE is secure and efficient.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic revealed the criticality of timely intervention in a situation exacerbated by a shortage in medical staff and equipment. Pain-level screening is the initial step toward identifying the severity of patient conditions. Automatic recognition of state and feelings help in identifying patient symptoms to take immediate adequate action and providing a patient-centric medical plan tailored to a patient's state. In this paper, we propose a framework for pain-level detection for deployment in the United Arab Emirates and assess its performance using the most used approaches in the literature. Our results show that a deployment of a pain-level deep learning detection framework is promising in identifying the pain level accurately.

Blockchain technology has piqued the interest of businesses of all types, while consistently improving and adapting to business requirements. Several blockchain platforms have emerged, making it challenging to select a suitable one for a specific type of business. This paper presents a classification of over one hundred blockchain platforms. We develop smart contracts for detecting healthcare insurance frauds using the top two blockchain platforms selected based on our proposed decision-making map approach which selects the top suitable platforms for healthcare insurance frauds detection application. Our classification shows that the largest percentage of platforms can be used for all types of application domains, the second biggest percentage for financial services, and a small number is to develop applications in specific domains. Our decision-making map and performance evaluations reveal that Hyperledger Fabric surpassed Neo in all metrics for detecting healthcare insurance frauds.

EmbRace: Accelerating Sparse Communication for distributed Training of NLP Neural Networks

distributed data-parallel training has been widely adopted for deep neural network (DNN) models. Although current deep learning (DL) frameworks scale well for dense models like image classification models, we find that these DL frameworks have relatively low scalability for sparse models like natural language processing (NLP) models that have highly sparse embedding tables. Most existing works overlook the sparsity of model parameters thus suffering from significant but unnecessary communication overhead. In this paper, we propose EmbRace, an efficient communication framework to accelerate communications of distributed training for sparse models. EmbRace introduces Sparsity-aware Hybrid Communication, which integrates AlltoAll and model parallelism into data-parallel training, so as to reduce the communication overhead of highly sparse parameters. To effectively overlap sparse communication with both backward and forward computation, EmbRace further designs a 2D Communication Scheduling approach which optimizes the model computation procedure, relaxes the dependency of embeddings, and schedules the sparse communications of each embedding row with a priority queue. We have implemented a prototype of EmbRace based on PyTorch and Horovod, and conducted comprehensive evaluations with four representative NLP models. Experimental results show that EmbRace achieves up to 2.41X speedup compared to the state-of-the-art distributed training baselines. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The China dual-functional lithium–lead test blanket module(DFLL-TBM) is a liquid Li Pb blanket concept developed by the Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety technology of the Chinese Academy of sciences for testing in ITER to validate relevant tritium breeding and shielding technologies. In this study, neutronic calculations of DFLL-TBM were carried out using a massively parallel three-dimensional transport code, Hydra, with the Fusion Evaluated Nuclear Data Library/MG. Hydra was developed by the Nuclear Engineering Computational Physics Lab based on the discrete ordinates method and has been devoted to neutronic analysis and shielding evaluation for nuclear facilities. An in-house Monte Carlo code(MCX) was employed to verify the discretized calculation model used by Hydra for the DFLL-TBM calculations. The results showed two key aspects:(1) In most material zones,Hydra solutions are in good agreement with the reference MCX results within 1%, and the maximal relative difference of the neutron flux is merely 3%, demonstrating the correctness of the calculation model;(2) while the current DFLL-TBM design meets the operation shielding requirement of ITER for 4 years, it does not satisfy the tritium self-sufficiency requirement. Compared to the two-step approach, Hydra produces higher accuracies as it does not rely on the homogenization technique during the calculation process. The parallel efficiency tests of Hydra using the DFLL-TBM model also showed that this code maintains a high parallel efficiency on O(100) processors and, as a result, is able to significantly improve computing performance through parallelization. Parameter studies have been carried out by varying the thickness of the beryllium armor layer and the tritium breeding zone to understand the influence of the beryllium layer and breeding zone thickness on tritium breeding performance. This establishes a foundation for further improvement in the tritium production performance of DFLL-TBM.

Code Pre-trained Models (CodePTMs) based vulnerability detection have achieved promising results over recent years. However, these models struggle to generalize as they typically learn superficial mapping from source code to labels instead of understanding the root causes of code vulnerabilities, resulting in poor performance in real-world scenarios beyond the training instances. To tackle this challenge, we introduce VulLLM, a novel framework that integrates multi-task learning with Large Language Models (LLMs) to effectively mine deep-seated vulnerability features. Specifically, we construct two auxiliary tasks beyond the vulnerability detection task. First, we utilize the vulnerability patches to construct a vulnerability localization task. Second, based on the vulnerability features extracted from patches, we leverage GPT-4 to construct a vulnerability interpretation task. VulLLM innovatively augments vulnerability classification by leveraging generative LLMs to understand complex vulnerability patterns, thus compelling the model to capture the root causes of vulnerabilities rather than overfitting to spurious features of a single task. The experiments conducted on six large datasets demonstrate that VulLLM surpasses seven state-of-the-art models in terms of effectiveness, generalization, and robustness. © 2024, CC BY.
