A clustering algorithm based on maximum entropy principle

Aiming at the shortcomings of clustering performance of many traditional text clustering methods, a clustering algorithm based on maximum entropy principle is proposed. The algorithm uses the cosine similarity measure cited in the traditional text clustering algorithm SP-Kmeans, and then introduces the maximal entropy theory to construct the maximal entropy objective function suitable for text clustering. The maximum entropy principle is introduced into the spherical K-mean text clustering Algorithm. The experimental results show that compared with DA-VMFS and SP-Kmeans algorithms, in addressing the large number of text clustering problem. The performance of CAMEP clustering algorithm is greatly improved, and has a good overall performance.

Improved artificial bee colony algorithm and application in path planning of crowd animation

Crowd animation is a new and continuous challenge in computer animation. In tradition, crowd animation can be realized by key frame technology, and animators should set every character's expression, action, motion, and behavior. Therefore animators' workload by hand will increase tremendously with characters growing, which lead to difficult to realize crowd animation for low efficiency and poor global controllability, especially in path planning by appointing a target position for each individuals. In order to overcome these, an improved artificial bee colony (IM-ABC) algorithm is proposed to apply on the path planning of crowd animation. The IM-ABC is fit to simulate the crowd motion in animation based on the following two merits over the others in crowd animation. One is the rule of role transformation, which can make the rapid convergence of the result and avoid getting trapped in the local optima. The other is the realization of multi-object optimization in the process of iteration, which reaches the uniformly distributed result of swarm motion and especially fits to realize the path plan. In this paper, we simply reviews classical ABC algorithm proposed by Karaboga at the beginning. Then, in order to speed the convergence and make individuals generate paths more realistic and natural, some measures are taken to modify the classical ABC (called IM-ABC) algorithm, which include initializing colony based on chaos sequence, self-adaptively selecting the follower bees, and adaptively controlling parameters, etc. After the experiments of benchmark functions, the results confirm that the IM-ABC have better performance than the classical ABC algorithm and others. Finally, the IM-ABC algorithm is used for path planning to generate the route from the initial to the destination without collision. Cybercrime caused by malware becomes a persistent and damaging threat which makes the trusted security solution urgently demanded, especially for resource-constrained ends. The existing industry and academic approaches provide available anti-malware systems based on different perspectives. However, it is hard to achieve high performance detection and data privacy protection simultaneously. This paper proposes a cloud-based anti-malware system, called RScam, which provides fast and trusted security service for the resource-constrained ends. In RScam, we present suspicious bucket filtering, a novel signature-based detection mechanism based on the reversible sketch structure, which provides retrospective and accurate orientations of malicious signature fragments. Then we design a lightweight client which utilizes the digest of signature fragments to sharply reduce detection range. Finally, we design balanced interaction mechanism, which transmits sketch coordinates of suspicious file fragments and transformation of malicious signature fragments between the client and cloud server to protect data privacy and reduce traffic volume. We evaluate the performance of RScam with campus suspicious traffic and normal files. The results demonstrate validity and veracity of the proposed mechanism. This paper investigates the problem of maximizing uniform multicast throughput (MUMT) for multi-channel dense wireless sensor networks, where all nodes locate within one-hop transmission range and can communicate with each other on multiple orthogonal channels. This kind of networks show wide application in the real world, and maximizing uniform multicast throughput for these networks is worth deep studying. Previous researches have proved MUMT problem is NP-hard. However, previous researches are either hard to implement, or use too many relay nodes to complete the multicast task, and thus incur high overhead or poor performance. To efficiently solve MUMT problem, we adopt the concept of the maximum independent set with the size constraint, and present one novel Single-Broadcast based Multicast algorithm called SBM based on the concept. We prove that SBM algorithm achieves a constant ratio to the theoretical throughput upper bound. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that, SBM performs better than existing work in terms of both the uniform multicast throughput and the total number of transmissions.

Bloom filters are frequently used to perform set queries that test the existence of some items. However, Bloom filters face a dilemma: the transmission bandwidth and the accuracy cannot be optimized simultaneously. This dilemma is particularly severe for transmitting Bloom filters to remote nodes when the network bandwidth is limited. We propose a novel Bloom filter BloomTree that consists of a tree-structured organization of smaller Bloom filters, each one using a set of independent hash functions. BloomTree spreads items across levels that are compressed to reduce the transmission bandwidth need. We investigate in detail under which conditions BloomTree performs better than the compressed Bloom filter and the standard Bloom filter. © Copyright 2015 ACM.

The promoters of Arabidopsis and the Poplar are parallel processed and analyzed in this paper. The mainly works include three parts: First, The Motif data are parallel matched with both plant promoter data based on OpenMP. Then, the matching result is processed by frequent mining technology. The experimental result shows that the parallel processing time based on OpenMP is far less than the serial time. Second, to increase the calculation accuracy, the algorithm of solving the P value is improved by the prime split method. At last, according to the frequent process result, the shared frequent items of the two plants are analyzed. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.

Cooperation of CPU and hardware accelerator on SoC FPGA to accomplish computational intensive tasks, provides significant advantages in performance and energy efficiency. However, current operating systems provide little support for accelerators: the OS is unaware that a computational task can be executed either on a CPU core or an accelerator, and provides no assistance in efficient management of data sharing between CPU and accelerator on the DRAM, such as zero copy, data coherence. It’s also hard for current OS to allocate large contiguous physical memory space for accelerator. In this paper, we select the Xilinx ZYNQ as target and qualitatively analyze methods of sharing data. Besides using high-performance (HP) AXI interfaces of the ZYQN device, we develop a novel memory management system for FPGA-based accelerator. It provides a unified virtual space for CPU cores and accelerator so that they can access the same memory space in the operating systems user space. For a deep convolutional neural network task, our design gains up to speed-up of 5. 34x compared to traditional processoraccelerator cooperation. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.

Due to the uncertainty and unpredictability of environment changes, it is a great challenge to develop self-adaptive systems in open environment. First, it is difficult for developers to clearly predict various environment changes and precisely define self-adaptation requirements at design-time. Second, many of self-adaptation decisions should be made by system at run-time. In order to deal with the problems, the paper presents an approach that is based on software agent technology and organization metaphor to support the development and running of such systems. Our approach enables developer to describe self-adaptive systems and investigate self-adaptation according to the high-level organization abstractions. A self-adaptation mechanism called role dynamic binding is designed and on-line self-adaptation is achieved by introducing enforcement learning. The paper details the on-line self-adaptation decision algorithm that integrates dynamic binding mechanism with enforcement learning together. Especially, a general-purpose and systematics software engineering solution to developing such system is provided, including self-adaptive software model, implementation framework, structured process and supporting software environment SADE+. Principal component analysis (PCA) projects data on the directions with maximal variances. Since PCA is quite effective in dimension reduction, it has been widely used in computer vision. However, conventional PCA suffers from following deficiencies: 1) it spends much computational costs to handle high-dimensional data, and 2) it cannot reveal the nonlinear relationship among different features of data. To overcome these deficiencies, this paper proposes an efficient two-dimensional Euler PCA (2D-ePCA) algorithm. Particularly, 2D-ePCA learns projection matrix on the 2D pixel matrix of each image without reshaping it into 1D long vector, and uncovers nonlinear relationships among features by mapping data onto complex representation. Since such 2D complex representation induces much smaller kernel matrix and principal subspaces, 2D-ePCA costs much less computational overheads than Euler PCA on large-scale dataset. Experimental results on popular face datasets show that 2D-ePCA outperforms the representative algorithms in terms of accuracy, computational overhead, and robustness. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.

Non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) has been a popular data analysis tool and has been widely applied in computer vision. However, conventional NMF methods cannot adaptively learn grouping structure froma *** paper proposes a non-negative low-rank and group-sparse matrix factorization (NLRGS) method to overcome this deficiency. Particularly, NLRGS captures the relationships among examples by constraining rank of the coefficients meanwhile identifies the grouping structure via group sparsity regularization. By both constraints, NLRGS boosts NMF in both classification and clustering. However, NLRGS is difficult to be optimized because it needs to deal with the low-rank constraint. To relax such hard constraint, we approximate the low-rank constraint with the nuclear norm and then develop an optimization algorithm for NLRGS in the frame of augmented Lagrangian method(ALM). Experimental results of both face recognition and clustering on four popular face datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of NLRGS in quantities. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.
