As a result of rapid development, the Internet has become an indispensable tool in people's daily life, and web logs have been growing rapidly as well. How to deal with massive logs timely and extract information people need from the logs has become a problem;handling web log by single computer can not meet people's needs any more. Combining cloud computing and Hadoop technology, this paper established a new processing system for the collection of logs and remote parallelization analysis, which not only solved the issues of traditional systems that data handing and collection could not proceed simultaneously, but reduced the performance bottleneck of computing power and storage capacity, thereby saving much time and improving efficiency significantly. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Github facilitates the pull-request mechanism as an outstanding social coding paradigm by integrating with social media. The review process of pull-requests is a typical crowd sourcing job which needs to solicit opinions of the community. Recommending appropriate reviewers can reduce the time between the submission of a pull-request and the actual review of it. In this paper, we firstly extend the traditional Machine Learning (ML) based approach of bug triaging to reviewer recommendation. Furthermore, we analyze social relations between contributors and reviewers, and propose a novel approach to recommend highly relevant reviewers by mining comment networks (CN) of given projects. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of these two approaches with quantitative evaluations. The results show that CN-based approach achieves a significant improvement over the ML-based approach, and on average it reaches a precision of 78% and 67% for top-1 and top-2 recommendation respectively, and a recall of 77% for top-10 recommendation.

Traditional wireless relay networks have large end-to-end time delay and low throughput because of the limit that it can't receive and forward at the same time. In this paper, we proposed IWFR: Immediate Wireless Full-Duplex Relay which exploits the advantages of full-duplex to shorten the end-to-end time delay and improve the throughput. At the same time, we designed a new implicit acknowledgement mechanism, which can eliminate the ACK overheads and evidently improve the throughput of the relay. To implement IWFR, we also modified the full-duplex node architecture to make it support for immediate relay. Simulation shows that IWFR shortens the end-to-end time delay by 60% on average and improves the throughput to 240% of the original relay.

Image defogging (IDF) removes influences of fogs from an image to improve its quality. Since defogged images can significantly boost the performance of subsequent processing, IDF has attracted many attentions from the computer vision community. However, existing IDF algorithms are built on the assumption that light is scattered once by a grain. Since such assumption is violated if images are contaminated by dense haze or heavy fog, traditional IDF algorithms often fail in this situation. In this paper, we propose a hybrid image defogging (HIDF) algorithm to overcome this deficiency. In particular, HIDF applies the single scattering physics model (SSPM) to pixels dominated by single scattering of light, and applies the multiple scattering physics model (MSPM) to remaining pixels. To distinguish two types of pixels, HIDF utilizes the optical thickness of corresponding pixels. If optical thickness is smaller than a threshold that determines whether the single scattering or the multiple scattering dominates, HIDF applies the SSPM, and HIDF applies the MSPM otherwise. Experimental results on several popular foggy images demonstrate that HIDF competes with the state-of-the-art algorithms, and show the promise of HIDF for defogging heavily foggy images.

Group Reverse k-Nearest-Neighbor Query (GRkNN) can be used to evaluate the influences of query objects and has wide applications. Traditional algorithms are not able to obtain satisfied results for uncertain sensor network data. A probabilistic threshold group reverse k nearest neighbor query (PT-GRkNN) is proposed in this paper. PT-GRkNN exploits filter-refine framework, geometric filter and probability filter are proposed to shrink the search space, the final query results can be obtained by refine phase. Experimental results show that the efficiency of PT-GRkNN is better than the existing methods. © 2014 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

To reduce the access latencies of end hosts,latency-sensitive applications need to choose suitably close service machines to answer the access requests from end *** K nearest neighbor search locates K service machines closest to end hosts,which can efficiently optimize the access latencies for end *** work has weakness in terms of the accuracy and *** to the scalable and accurate K nearest neighbor search problem,we propose a distributed K nearest neighbor search method called DKNNS in this *** machines are organized into a locality-aware multilevel *** first locates a service machine that starts the search process based on a farthest neighbor search scheme,then discovers K nearest service machines based on a backtracking approach within the proximity region containing the target in the latency *** analysis,simulation results and deployment experiments on the PlanetLab show that,DKNNS can determine K approximately optimal service machines,with modest completion time and query ***,DKNNS is also quite stable that can be used for reducing frequent searches by caching found nearest neighbors.

Semi-supervised clustering aims at boosting the clustering performance on unlabeled samples by using labels from a few labeled samples. Constrained NMF (CNMF) is one of the most significant semi-supervised clustering methods, and it factorizes the whole dataset by NMF and constrains those labeled samples from the same class to have identical encodings. In this paper, we propose a novel soft-constrained NMF (SCNMF) method by softening the hard constraint in CNMF. Particularly, SCNMF factorizes the whole dataset into two lower-dimensional factor matrices by using multiplicative update rule (MUR). To utilize the labels of labeled samples, SCNMF iteratively normalizes both factor matrices after updating them with MURs to make encodings of labeled samples close to their label vectors. It is therefore reasonable to believe that encodings of unlabeled samples are also close to their corresponding label vectors. Such strategy significantly boosts the clustering performance even when the labeled samples are rather limited, e.g., each class owns only a single labeled sample. Since the normalization procedure never increases the computational complexity of MUR, SCNMF is quite efficient and effective in practices. Experimental results on face image datasets illustrate both efficiency and effectiveness of SCNMF compared with both NMF and CNMF.

Projective non-negative matrix factorization (PNMF) projects a set of examples onto a subspace spanned by a non-negative basis whose transpose is regarded as the projection matrix. Since PNMF learns a natural parts-based representation, it has been successfully used in text mining and pattern recognition. However, it is non-trivial to analyze the convergence of the optimization algorithms for PNMF because its objective function is non-convex. In this paper, we propose a Box-constrained PNMF (BPNMF) method to overcome this deficiency of PNMF. In particular, BPNMF introduces an auxiliary variable, i.e., the coefficients of examples, and incorporates the following two types of constraints: 1) each entry of the basis is non-negative and upper-bounded, i.e., box-constrained, and 2) the coefficients equal to the projected points of the examples. The first box constraint makes the basis to be bound and the second equality constraint keeps its equivalence to PNMF. Similar to PNMF, BPNMF is difficult because the objective function is non-convex. To solve BPNMF, we developed an efficient algorithm in the frame of augmented Lagrangian multiplier (ALM) method and proved that the ALM-based algorithm converges to local minima. Experimental results on two face image datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of BPNMF compared with the representative methods.

Non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) is an efficient dimension reduction method and plays an important role in many pattern recognition and computer vision tasks. However, conventional NMF methods are not robust since the objective functions are sensitive to outliers and do not consider the geometric structure in datasets. In this paper, we proposed a correntropy graph regularized NMF (CGNMF) to overcome the aforementioned problems. CGNMF maximizes the correntropy between data matrix and its reconstruction to filter out the noises of large magnitudes, and expects the coefficients to preserve the intrinsic geometric structure of data. We also proposed a modified version of our CGNMF which construct the adjacent graph by using sparse representation to enhance its reliability. Experimental results on popular image datasets confirm the effectiveness of CGNMF.

The concerns of data-intensiveness and energy awareness are actively reshaping the design of high-performance computing (HPC) systems nowadays. The Graph500 is a widely adopted benchmark for evaluating the performance of computing systems for data-intensive workloads. In this paper, we introduce a data-parallel implementation of Graph500 on the Intel Single-chip Cloud computer (SCC). The SCC features a non-coherent many-core architecture and multi-domain on-chip DVFS support for dynamic power management. With our custom-made shared virtual memory programming library, memory sharing among threads is done efficiently via the shared physical memory (SPM) while the library has taken care of the coherence. We conduct an in-depth study on the power and performance characteristics of the Graph500 workloads running on this system with varying system scales and power states. Our experimental results are insightful for the design of energy-efficient many-core systems for data-intensive applications.
