The limited number of writers and the lack of forgeries as counterexample to construct the systems is the main difficulty task for designing a robust off-line Handwritten Signature Verification System (HSVS). In this paper, we propose to study the influence of writer's number using conjointly the curvelet transform and the One-Class Support Vector Machine (OC-SVM), which takes in consideration only genuine signatures. The design of the HSVS is based on the writer-independent approach. Experimental results conducted on the standard CEDAR and GPDS datasets demonstrate that the proposed method allows achieving the lowest Average Error Rate with a limited number of writers.

For colocated multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar transmitting orthogonal polyphase coded waveform, a low range, angular and Doppler sidelobe is desirable. In this paper, we propose a MIMO radar sidelobe suppression method based on random space-time coding (STC) method. In detail, at each pulse repetition period, a random STC matrix, composed of a diagonal random phase matrix multiplied by a random permutation matrix, is modulated to waveforms before transmission. Such a kind of STC matrix can keep the constant modulus property of transmitting waveforms and can decrease range, angular and Doppler sidelobe significantly.

A new full-aperture imaging algorithm for Spaceborne/ Airborne hybrid sliding spotlight bistatic SAR is proposed in this paper. The SAR configuration under discussion has great advantage over traditional ones, yet suffers from the double square-root term in the bistatic slant range equation and severe spatial variance. The proposed method firstly eliminates azimuth spectrum folding by the SPECAN operation, and then corrects the RCM by Chirp Scaling Algorithm. Without interpolation and sub-aperture operations, the algorithm is high in the computational efficiency and simple in the flow. Simulation results confirm the validity of the proposed algorithm.

In this paper, we present schemes on implementing the single-photon-added coherent source in quantum key distributions. We apply this source in either the standard BB84 protocol or the recently proposed measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution, comparing their performance with the cases of using other existing sources, e.g., the weak coherent source or the heralded single-photon source, and giving out corresponding numerical simulations. Our simulation results show that in both protocols the single-photon-added coherent source can greatly exceed all other existing sources. Moreover, even when taking statistical fluctuation into account, a high key generation rate can still be achieved at long distance by applying this source.

Most of the classical methods for degraded document binarization are based on the pixel gray level intensity or on simple pixel neighborhood information such as mean or variance to compute the binarization threshold. Moreover, these information are extracted from the spatial domain of the document image which are not very discriminative. In this paper, we propose to estimate texture information based on Gabor filters for ancient degraded documents. First, the dominant slant angle of the document image script is computed by using the Fourier transform. Then, this dominant angle is used within a weighted sum of angles in a Gabor filter bank in order to capture more efficiently the document image foreground (text). This information, combined with the variance and the mean extracted respectively from spatial and frequency domains are used for estimating the binarization threshold. Three variants are used for evaluating the performance of Gabor filter bank, which are based on Niblack's, Sauvola's, and Wolf's thresholds. Experimental results conducted on DIBCO Datasets show that the proposed method is more appropriate for poor contrasted documents and ink-bleed through degradations.
