Sound event detection (SED) aims to detect the onset and offset times of sound events and gives a label to each event. In real-world, polyphonic SED is a challenging task because multiple sound events may occur at the same time. Recently, deep learning has offered valuable techniques for it, such as convolutional neural networks (CNN) and recurrent neural networks (RNN). In this paper, we design a new model that a combination of the capsule neural networks (CapsNet) and RNN, for the detection layers, we use various temporal segmentation methods and optimization algorithms to obtain the best performing threshold. CapsNet overcomes some limitations of CNN, such as the loss of position information after max-pooling. The RNN mainly models the temporal dependency of context information. The combination of CapsNet and RNN greatly enhances the relationships of part and whole, and improves the experiment performance in polyphonic SED. Experiments on the TUT-Sound Events 2017 show that the proposed approach improves ER by 21% and F1-score by 39.6% absolute compared with the state-of-the-art algorithms, respectively. © 2020 IEEE.

High Frame Rate Along-Track Swarm SAR Subaperture Collaboration Imaging for Moving Target

As a novel configuration of along-track multistatic synthetic aperture radar (Multi-SAR), the high frame rate along-track swarm SAR (ATS-SAR) has garnered significant attention in recent years due to its exceptional efficiency in reducing data acquisition time. Motivated by its potential for high-resolution imaging of moving targets, this article investigates the application of ATS-SAR in moving target imaging. However, high frame rate ATS-SAR-based moving target imaging confronts two critical challenges: time-space coupling and partial data loss in moving target echoes. To address these challenges, we first conduct a comprehensive analysis and theoretical derivation of the moving target echo model under the high frame rate ATS-SAR configuration. Subsequently, we propose an innovative motion parameter estimation algorithm that exploits unique echo characteristics to achieve high-performance imaging. Furthermore, we introduce the high-resolution, high frame rate ATS-SAR subaperture collaborative imaging algorithm for moving targets (MT-SACIm-ATS). Extensive simulations and a real measured experiment validate the effectiveness of the MT-SACIm-ATS algorithm, demonstrating imaging performance that closely approximates reference imaging results. Comparative analysis with several state-of-the-art algorithms further highlights the superiority of the proposed approach in terms of resolution and robustness. © 1980-2012 IEEE.

With the goal of detecting moving targets, this paper proposes a new single channel Circular Synthetic Aperture radar (CSAR) moving targets detection algorithm based on Low-rank Sparse Decomposition (LRSD). This algorithm utilizes the correlation among overlap subaperture logarithmic amplitude image sequences, the static clutter is regarded as low-rank component and the moving targets is considered as sparse component. Then, the background image sequence (without moving target) and the foreground image sequence (moving targets) can be extracted by the LRSD. Considering the unknown foreground image distribution, this paper proposes a Local Dynamic Threshold based on Otsu (LDTO) method independent of image distribution to detect moving targets. Finally, the experiment on the X-band airborne Gotcha Data demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Uniform linear array (ULA) fitting (UF) principle is a newly proposed sparse array (SA) design scheme that aims to design SAs using cascaded ULAs, based on which a number of SAs with desired capacity are devised. In this letter, we aim to introduce the UF idea to devise sparse MIMO arrays with reduced mutual coupling and increased uniform degrees of freedom. However, existing sparse MIMO array design approach needs the transmit and receive arrays in MIMO radar have hole-free difference coarrays (DCAs), which is no longer the best choice for UF principle due to the fact that SAs designed via UF cannot guarantee hole-free DCAs. In this regard, considering the difference coarray of the sum coarray (DCSC) concept, a novel sparse MIMO array design strategy which is suitable for UF principle is proposed. Based on the novel strategy and UF principle, a new sparse MIMO array is designed. 3D object detection is an essential perception task in autonomous driving to understand the environments. The Bird's-Eye-View (BEV) representations have significantly improved the performance of 3D detectors with camera inputs on popular benchmarks. However, there still lacks a systematic understanding of the robustness of these vision-dependent BEV models, which is closely related to the safety of autonomous driving systems. In this paper, we evaluate the natural and adversarial robustness of various representative models under extensive settings, to fully understand their behaviors influenced by explicit BEV features compared with those without BEV. In addition to the classic settings, we propose a 3D consistent patch attack by applying adversarial patches in the 3D space to guarantee the spatiotemporal consistency, which is more realistic for the scenario of autonomous driving. With substantial experiments, we draw several findings: 1) BEV models tend to be more stable than previous methods under different natural conditions and common corruptions due to the expressive spatial representations; 2) BEV models are more vulnerable to adversarial noises, mainly caused by the redundant BEV features; 3) Camera-LiDARfusion models have superior performance under different settings with multi-modal inputs, but BEV fusion model is still vulnerable to adversarial noises of both point cloud and image. These findings alert the safety issue in the applications of BEV detectors and could facilitate the development of more robust models.

Optical wireless communication (OWC) has emerged as one promising candidate to mitigate the frequency spectrum crisis. Due to the broadcast nature of OWC channel, physical layer security (PLS) techniques have been considered and explored to improve the transmission confidentiality of OWC links. However, almost all current schemes focus on scenarios including multiple transmitters and fail to match the scenarios with limited transmitters, even single transmitter. For addressing this issue, in this work, the dynamic optical beam based PLS enhancement scheme is proposed. Unlike conventional Lambertian beam based technique paradigm, the above scheme tentatively utilize the commercially available non-Lambertian beam to configure the secure OWC links. Numerical results show that, compared with about 1.10 bps/Hz average secrecy capacity (SC) of the conventional configuration, up to 1.93 bps/Hz average SC gain could be provided by the proposed dynamic beam scheme. Moreover, this potential gain will be increased to about 2.39 bps/Hz when the diversity combing is available for the legitimate user receiver. © 2021 IEEE.

Covariance matrix fitting is a classic problem in direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation, but there has been little discussion about wideband signals. In this paper, a novel wideband DOA estimation method based on covariance matrix fitting is developed. First of all, a novel wideband signal model is proposed and the wideband joint covariance matrix is formulated. The fitting criterion is deduced by the statistical characteristics of this model. Then the optimization problem of the criterion is transformed into a block sparsity problem using Holder's inequality. The problem can be divided into two subproblems and the closed-form solution of each part is obtained by dual method. The result of our wideband estimator can be solved by alternating iteration. Finally, the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) is derived for wideband signals. Compared with other algorithms, the presented estimator has higher accuracy. Simulation results show the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed algorithm.

In this paper, robust multiple model-based LSDP (Loop-Shaping Design Procedure) controller is proposed for a SISO system where each linear submodel is represented in the form of a SISO ARX (Auto Regressive with exogenous input) Laguerre model. The proposed controller guarantees robustness in term of stability and reference tracking of the SISO system in presence of parametric uncertainties. Simulation example on the SISO CSTR (Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor) Benchmark is given to show the efficiency and the robustness of the proposed controller in handling the parametric uncertainties of the process.

Inspired by the fact that the matrix formulated by nonlocal similar patches in a natural image is of low rank, the rank approximation issue have been extensively investigated over the past decades, among which weighted nuclear norm minimization (WNNM) and weighted Schatten p-norm minimization (WSNM) are two prevailing methods have shown great superiority in various image restoration (IR) problems. Due to the physical characteristic of color images, color image restoration (CIR) is often a much more difficult task than its grayscale image counterpart. However, when applied to CIR, the traditional WNNM/WSNM method only processes three color channels individually and fails to consider their cross-channel correlations. Very recently, a quaternion-based WNNM approach (QWNNM) has been developed to mitigate this issue, which is capable of representing the color image as a whole in the quaternion domain and preserving the inherent correlation among the three color channels. Despite its empirical success, unfortunately, the convergence behavior of QWNNM has not been strictly studied yet. In this paper, on the one side, we extend the WSNM into quaternion domain and correspondingly propose a novel quaternion-based WSNM model (QWSNM) for tackling the CIR problems. Extensive experiments on two representative CIR tasks, including color image denoising and deblurring, demonstrate that the proposed QWSNM method performs favorably against many state-of-the-art alternatives, in both quantitative and qualitative evaluations. On the other side, more importantly, we preliminarily provide a theoretical convergence analysis, that is, by modifying the quaternion alternating direction method of multipliers (QADMM) through a simple continuation strategy, we theoretically prove that both the solution sequences generated by the QWNNM and QWSNM have fixed-point convergence guarantees. Speech language classification is an important direction in the field of machine learning. In order to further improve the effect of speech classification, this paper propose a new speech language classification algorithm based on multiple-instance learning with negative instance cleaning, namely NUMI-Biased SVM algorithm. Firstly, extract MFCC features from speech files, regarding each file as an instance bag, and every speech frame as an instance. Secondly, adopt PU learning algorithm to clean negative instances in positive bags to reduce their impact on classification. Finally, multiple-instance learning algorithm is used to classify the speech files. Experiments show that, compared with the SVM algorithm and multiple-instance SVM algorithm, NUMI-Biased-SVM has achieved significant improvement in classification performance. © 2020 IEEE.
