The return line of the passive residual system(PRS) of ACP100 is connected to the direct injection nozzle of the pressure vessel. It is a non-isolated dead pipe containing coolant, and there is no insulation layer. The temperature difference between the two sides of the pipe is large, which is prone to thermal stratification. This paper uses FloEFD software to carry out CFD simulation analysis and research on the thermal stratification phenomenon of the pipeline in normal operation and accident conditions. The scope of the return line analysis in this paper begins with the isolation valve at the outlet and ends with the direct injection nozzle on the pressure vessel. The finite volume method is used to solve the model, and the standard k-Ε two-equation model is used for turbulence simulation. The pipeline system adopts a mesh refinement strategy according to the flow channel and wall thickness in the pipeline to obtain a reasonable mesh distribution. The results show that during normal operation, there is obvious thermal stratification at the exit of the PRS isolation valves, and there is a certain vortex in the tube, which can promote the heat exchange between the reactor pressure vessel and the PRS return pipeline;When PRS put into operation, a large temperature gradient is generated at the interface of the annular cavity of the pressure vessel, and the influence of thermal stress and cyclic thermal shock needs to be considered, and an obvious vortex will be formed nearby to promote the rapid heat exchange of cold and hot water in the nearby area. The application of wireless sensor network in nuclear power plant can greatly reduce the workload of nuclear power plant cable wiring, and help to improve the automation and information level of nuclear power plant. However, its application also faces the constraints of strong electromagnetic interference, high temperature and other special complex nuclear environment, especially the narrow multi metal enclosed space of nuclear power plant cabin, which brings challenges to the application of wireless sensor. Based on the Lora wireless protocol, this paper studies the low-power selection of wireless sensor and MCU, sleep / wake-up low-power mechanism, dual star adaptive frequency hopping anti-interference, frequency division and time division multi node real-time communication and other aspects. On this basis, the prototype is developed, and the functional test, high and low temperature test, electromagnetic compatibility test and bench test are carried out. DS evidence theory is a widely used uncertainty inference algorithm for decision fusion that can fuse this complementary and redundant information to reduce the uncertainty of the system. Evidence conflict is the most common problem in the application of DS evidence theory, and how to resolve the conflict is the key to obtaining reasonable and reliable decision results. To resolve the evidence conflicts, numerous scholars have used different distance functions to improve the DS combination rule to effectively manage the conflicting evidence. However, there are only few relevant studies that address the performance of different distance functions for handling evidence conflicts. Therefore, this paper discusses the performance of five distance functions (Euclidean distance function, Manhattan distance function, Minkowsky distance function, Jffreys distance function and Camberra distance function) to handle evidence conflicts by performing simulations in a fault diagnosis system for typical mechanical vibration signals. © 2022 IEEE.

As the development of computer science technology and the requirement of thorough research, more researchers are setting their eyes on coupling method because of the tight coupling in NPP (nuclear power plant) system. However there were few researches studying the difference between decoupling and coupling methods and the importance of coupling method. This research respectively establishes the primary and secondary loop decoupling models and the two loops coupling model based on the small NPP by APROS. Then the differences between the decoupling and coupling models is studied under the steady state and dynamic state which contains the ramp load variation and load shedding. The results show that there are small differences between these models in the main parameter values under the steady state. But the differences between decoupling models and coupling model are large. Therefore the NPP system needs be modeled by coupling method as to study its dynamic characteristic. © 2023, The Author(s).

The formation and growth of voids have significant influence on the dimensional changes of nuclear materials subjected to irradiation. In this paper, we developed a phase-field model to investigate the evolution of voids in binary alloys under irradiation, which includes the process of irradiation-induced defect formation and annihilation. The relationship of alloy composition and defect formation energy was determined. The nucleation and growth of voids for various alloy compositions were simulated to investigate the effect of solute composition on the void growth kinetics. Our simulation results indicate that, the composition of matrix phase and its influence on the formation energy of vacancy are essential for the growth kinetics and void distribution during irradiation. As an example, the void nucleation and growth in U-Zr alloys are also studied and consistence between the present results and experimental observations were obtained. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

The accurate prediction of critical heat flux(CHF) is of great significance to the safe operation of the reactor. At present, most of the traditional methods for predicting CHF are based on relational fitting in mathematical form, which are not accurate enough and may can not taking full advantage of experimental data. Therefore, a prediction model based on random forest algorithm (RF) is proposed, the model is based on CHF 2006 look-up table, and the accuracy and smoothness of the model have been verified when predicting CHF. In this paper, the variation trend of CHF predicted value and actual value with pressure, mass flow rate and thermodynamic quality is given. It has been verified that the error of this method is acceptable, the predicted value is in good agreement with the experimental value, and conforms to the corresponding physical laws, which can provide a reference for the development of high-precision CHF prediction models or CHF-related experiments. In view of the quality problems of manual TIG coating of cobalt-based alloy, the Laser Additive Manufacturing process was studied, especially the optimization of process parameters. Then a series of experiments were carried out on the cobalt-based alloy Additive Manufacturing layer and compared with the traditional manual TIG coating layer. Borated stainless steels (BSSs) are extensively applied in the nuclear energy industry due to boron's excellent thermal neutron absorption capacity, but large and brittle borides formed during casting result in a low ductility. Here, a BSS was produced by laser directed energy deposition, and an investigation was conducted to analyze the impact of laser power on both the microstructure and mechanical properties of the deposited material. Fibrous borides with relatively low volume fraction in the overlapping zone resulted in higher ductility, while lamellar borides with relatively large volume fraction in the non-overlapping zone led to higher strength. As the laser power increased from 180 W to 330 W, the size of fibrous and lamellar eutectic borides and austenite increased significantly, the width of the soft overlapping zone increased by 2.27 times, and the elongation increased by 2.03 times, although yield strength and ultimate tensile strength decreased by 46.3 % and 31.7 %, respectively. As a result, these findings confirmed the feasibility of significantly improving the ductility of the as-deposited BSS by increasing the laser power. The work here provides a way to tailoring the mechanical properties of BSS produced by laser additive manufacturing. © 2025 The Society of Manufacturing Engineers

Liquid metal has the advantages of high boiling point and strong thermal conductivity and is selected as the coolant for a new generation nuclear system. In addition, the narrow rectangular channel is used in the small reactors or research reactors due to its compact structure and high heat transfer capacity. In order to accurately simulate the turbulent heat transfer of liquid metals in narrow rectangular channels, based on the relevant experimental data, this paper explored suitable numerical simulation methods. First of all, according to the research object, the appropriate experimental data was selected, and the geometric modeling, mesh division, and the mesh independence verification were carried out. It was ensured that the y+ meets the requirements of each turbulence model and wall treatment model. Several typical turbulence models and the wall treatment models were evaluated. For the low Prandtl number fluid such as liquid metal, it is necessary to select a suitable turbulent Prandtl number model in the RANS simulation. The sensitivity of the calculation results to the turbulent Prandtl number was analyzed. Finally, the existing turbulent Prandtl number models were evaluated. The suitable at different Pe was given based on experimental value, so that the turbulent heat transfer of liquid metal in a narrow rectangular channel can be accurately simulated. The containment spray system is widely used in pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants, which can not only remove the heat in the containment but also remove the fission products suspended in the containment to reduce the discharge of radioactive substances to the environment during accident conditions. The aerosol removal behavior is affected by the spray droplet size distribution. The effect of different spray flow rates on aerosol removal is studied experimentally, and an improved evaluation model is established based on the spray droplet size distribution to analyze the efficiency of removal mechanisms. The experiments are carried out in the CATH (Containment Aerosol Thermal-Hydraulics) test facility with a total volume of 18.5 m3, where aerosols are injected and scrubbed by spray droplets. The spray droplets are generated by a full-cone spray nozzle at the volume flow rate of 0.4 m3/h and 0.6 m3/h, where droplet size distribution is measured by a Laser Diffractometer. Polydisperse particles of TiO2 are used to simulate the solid aerosol, whose diameters are in the range of 0.2 ~ 1.6 μm measured with an Aerosol Spectrometer. Experimental results show that the removal efficiency is higher for the larger particles, and the global removal efficiency of aerosols improved with the increase of spray flow rate from 0.4 to 0.6 m3/h. In addition, the removal efficiency of inertial impaction, interception, Brownian diffusion are quantitatively evaluated by the improved model, which shows that the effect of inertial impaction and interception is more significant for large particles. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
