In order to provide accurate input conditions for the design and installation process of steam turbine bearings system, finite element model of the simulation test bed shafting system was established. The design acceleration, 50% design acceleration and 1.5 times design acceleration were used as input loads to calculate the impact stress distribution of the steam turbine bearing. Cloud map and shock stress response history curve are calculated. The results show that the cyclic alternating stress in the alloy layer in the bearing area of the sliding bearing is the main cause of the failure of the sliding bearing. Under the design acceleration and 50% design acceleration shock conditions, the damage characteristics of the bearing are the bearing wear and the plasticity of the bearing inner wall. Under the 1.5 times design acceleration impact condition, the damage characteristics of the bearing are bush wear and plastic deformation of the pin hole.

MXenes have been in the spotlight of interest as electromagnetic (EM) functional materials. However, the susceptibility of MXenes leads to fast fading in EM interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE). In this work, oxidation-resistant vitamin C/Ti3C2TX foam composite was developed as an EMI shielding material. The vitamin C/Ti3C2TX foam composites exhibited an improved EM SE stability due to the protection of vitamin C by donating electrons. After exposing to air for 10 days, the EMI SE of vitamin C/Ti3C2TX foam decreased from 42.5 dB to 41 dB while the EMI SE of Ti3C2TX foam dropped from 47 dB to 35 dB. The EMI SE of vitamin C/Ti3C2TX foam and Ti3C2TX foam decreased correspondingly with a further increase in air exposure time. However, the decreasing rate of vitamin C/Ti3C2TX foam is always slower than that of the Ti3C2TX foam. This work offers an effective way of designing oxidation-resistant MXene-based EMI shielding materials. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Structure-based design of novel pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinoxalin-4(5H)-one derivatives as potent noncovalent Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitors

Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) is a promising target for the treatment of B cell malignancies. Developing noncovalent BTK inhibitors is a promising strategy to address the treatment limitations of covalent BTK inhibitors including off-target toxicity and acquired resistance. Our group previously discovered a novel noncovalent BTK inhibitor S2 with pyrrolo[1,2-α]quinoxalin-4(5H)-one as the scaffold. To further reduce the synthetic difficulty and improve physicochemical properties, we designed and synthesized a new series of ring-opening pyrrolo[1,2-α]quinoxalin-4(5H)-one derivatives based on the docking mode of S2 with BTK. Among them, the representative compound 10 exhibited potent BTK inhibitory activity (IC₅₀ = 24.7 nM). Compared with S2, compound 10 had lower structural rigidity, lipophilicity (cLogP: 4.2 vs 5.5), and molecular weight (MW: 490 vs 510), and was easier to prepare. Further study showed that compound 10 exhibited potent antitumor activities in lymphoma cells. The favorable physicochemical properties and in vitro activities suggested that compound 10 was a promising noncovalent BTK inhibitors worthy of further exploration. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

Estimation of Anthropogenic Heat from Buildings Based on Various Data Sources in Singapore

Heat released from the energy consumption in buildings (QB) is an important component of anthropogenic heat, which is a major contribution to the urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon. However, it is still a challenge to integrate all the available data to improve the estimation of QB due to inconsistence among multiple data sources. This paper presents a solution to estimate the anthropogenic heat from buildings in Singapore by classifying the buildings into the electricity consumption sectors based on random forest classification model using multiple data sources. The classification model achieves a cross validation accuracy score of 95% by using building use type, land use type of land parcel where the building stands, location and area as predictors. Based on the classification result, the daily average QB from the commercial buildings (CS), Housing and Development Board (HDB) apartments, private apartments and condominiums (AC), and landed properties (LP) were estimated to be 12.1, 4.4, 3.2 and 1.1 W m-2 on a 200 m-by-200 m grid, respectively. QB was approximately 9% of the net all-wave radiation in Singapore in 2015. Our approach can serve as a useful tool for integrating dataset from different sources with inconsistent categorisations. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS)-based endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is a prerequisite for the induction of immunogenic cell death (ICD), and the development of metal-based ICD inducers has garnered significant attention. However, the drug-target mechanisms of ICD inducers still require further exploration. Herein, we reported an ER-targeting iron(II) complex (Fe-NBM) as an ICD inducer, which was obtained through a solvothermal domino reaction. Accordingly, pyridin-2-ylmethanamine and 1-methyl-2-formylbenzimidazole underwent consecutive covalent transformations to form a novel N -heterocyclic ligand, which subsequently coordinated with ferrous chloride to directly yield the crystalline Fe-NBM in one pot. Confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM), molecular docking and cellular thermal shift assay (CETSA) showed that Fe-NBM could specifically target the ER by binding to the IRE1 α (Inositol Requiring kinase Enzyme 1 alpha) and induce ICD by generating ROS-based ER stress. In an immunocompetent mouse model, Fe-NBM could significantly inhibit tumor growth and stimulate anti-tumor immunity, and exhibit an enhanced effect when combined with anti-PD1 therapy, leading to near-complete tumor elimination. To gain deeper understanding of how to synthesize such effective ICD inducers at the molecular level, a combination of electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) and crystallography was employed for thoroughly tracking the step-economy synthetic process. To the best of our knowledge, Fe-NBM is the first iron-based ICD inducer that directly targets ER through binding to IRE1 α . We believe that the ICD-related target information presented in this work will enhance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying ICD and facilitate the design of new ICD inducers.

Recollision dynamics analysis of high-order harmonic generation in solids

We theoretically investigate the dynamic processes of solid harmonics generation using the one-dimensional time-dependent density functional theory and the three-band recollision model. Compared with gas harmonics, more quantum paths contribute to the generation of solid harmonics. Moreover, the number of quantum paths further increases as the laser vector potential increases. Analysis indicates that the multiple velocity reversals of electrons play an important role in the generation of solid harmonics, which induces multiple collisions of electrons and holes and forms more quantum paths. Besides, we find that the dephasing effect cannot reduce the number of quantum paths. Finally, the relationship between harmonic order and the electron migration distance is also studied. It is found that there is no unified dependence between harmonic order and the electron migration distance because this relationship is path dependent. Our work can contribute to a considerable understanding of the recollision dynamics of solid harmonic generation, which provides the possibility of manipulating the generation of solid harmonics in the future.

Object pose estimation is a fundamental computer vision problem with broad applications in augmented reality and robotics. Over the past decade, deep learning models, due to their superior accuracy and robustness, have increasingly supplanted conventional algorithms reliant on engineered point pair features. Nevertheless, several challenges persist in contemporary methods, including their dependency on labeled training data, model compactness, robustness under challenging conditions, and their ability to generalize to novel unseen objects. A recent survey discussing the progress made on different aspects of this area, outstanding challenges, and promising future directions, is missing. To fill this gap, we discuss the recent advances in deep learning-based object pose estimation, covering all three formulations of the problem, i.e., instance-level, category-level, and unseen object pose estimation. Our survey also covers multiple input data modalities, degrees-of-freedom of output poses, object properties, and downstream tasks, providing the readers with a holistic understanding of this field. Additionally, it discusses training paradigms of different domains, inference modes, application areas, evaluation metrics, and benchmark datasets, as well as reports the performance of current state-of-the-art methods on these benchmarks, thereby facilitating the readers in selecting the most suitable method for their application. Finally, the survey identifies key challenges, reviews the prevailing trends along with their pros and cons, and identifies promising directions for future research. A lossless intra reference block recompression scheme for bandwidth reduction in HEVC-IBC

The reference frame memory accesses in inter prediction result in high DRAM bandwidth requirement and power consumption. This problem is more intensive by the adoption of intra block copy (IBC), a new coding tool in the screen content coding (SCC) extension to High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). In this paper, we propose a lossless recompression scheme that compresses the reference blocks in intra prediction, i.e., intra block copy, before storing them into DRAM to alleviate this problem. The proposal performs pixel-wise texture analysis with an edge-based adaptive prediction method yet no signaling for direction in bitstreams, thus achieves a high gain for compression. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme shows a 72% data reduction rate on average, which solves the memory bandwidth problem. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.
