In this paper, the MGIW-ARIMA model is proposed to predict the newly diagnosed cases of COVID-19. The MGIW model is used to predict the trend components, and the ARIMA model is used to predict the random components. Finally, the estimated results of trend components and random components are added together to get the eventual predictions. The data of COVID-19 in the United States is used to verify and evaluate the model. In the short-term prediction, the combined model of MGIW-ARIMA is better than the single MGIW model. In the long-term prediction, the prediction accuracy of the MGIW model is slightly higher than that of the MGIW- ARIMA model. The MGIW-ARIMA model proposed in this paper makes up for the shortcoming of the lack of randomness in the estimated values of the MGIW model. The combination model can effectively capture the short-term changes of the epidemic while grasping the long-term development trend. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

At present, supervised video-based person re-identification has achieved excellent performance. However, the initial video data obtained from real scenes are often unlabeled. Labelling such data is very time-consuming. If unsupervised learning can be effectively applied to these data, so much cost will be saved. In this paper, based on the joint global and local metric, an unsupervised video-based person re-identification method is proposed, which takes both the global information of a video sequence and the local information between the video frames into account to better distinguish different appearances of the same pedestrian. The global similarity and local similarity are calculated using global and local features, respectively. Meanwhile, a diversity constraint is used as an aid for cluster merging and evaluation. In the training process, the network is optimized by combining cluster mutual exclusion loss and center loss, which reduces the within-class differences and enlarges the between-class differences. Experiments on two benchmark datasets, MARS and DukMTMC-VideoReID, the results show that this method has higher accuracy and stabilityshow that the proposed method can achieve higher accuracy and is more stable than most state-of-the-art unsupervised methods.

To gain otherwise inaccessible knowledge of fruits and vegetables during convective drying digital twins have evolved in thermal food processing: integrating measured data into physics-based modeling, hygrothermal processes inside the material can be accessed non-invasively. However, the heterogeneity of produce particles before, during and after the drying procedure is not yet taken into account. Here we show how a combination of physics-based and Monte Carlo simulations enable to predict how natural variability of carrot slices translates from raw material to final product. We describe a method for water activity assessment of the carrot slice population in the dryer. It is applied to examine the effectiveness of convective drying by varying process conditions: if the drying air temperature is increased from 50 °C to 70 °C accompanied by a shift from constant air temperature to product temperature controlled drying, a 45 % reduction in drying time, a 27 % reduction in the heat energy required to heat the drying air, and an 8 % improvement in β-carotene retention can be achieved. The approach described thus offers very promising insights for the optimization of existing drying processes without the need for additional equipment. In addition, the combination of physics-based and Monte Carlo simulations described will bring advantages in other areas where natural variability plays a decisive role. © 2023, The Authors. Online measurement of solids motion in fluidized bed reactor with different distributor for Fischer–Tropsch synthesis

In this paper, the distributions of particle velocity in a gas–solid fluidized bed with branched pipe distributor or circle distributor were measured by using a laser Doppler velocimetry. Our results show that, within a certain range of superficial gas velocity, when using circle distributor, the particle velocity is large and the distribution of the particle velocity is even more compared with the branched pipe distributor. On the basis of the amplitude of tangential movement statistics, the amplitude of tangential movement statistics(AVATMS) decreases with increasing the axial height under the appropriate superficial gas velocity.

To mitigate the effects of shadow fading and obstacle blocking, reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) has become a promising technology to improve the signal transmission quality of wireless communications by controlling the reconfigurable passive elements with less hardware cost and lower power consumption. However, accurate, low-latency and low-pilot-overhead channel state information (CSI) acquisition remains a considerable challenge in RIS-assisted systems due to the large number of RIS passive elements. In this paper, we propose a three-stage joint channel decomposition and prediction framework to require CSI. The proposed framework exploits the two-timescale property that the base station (BS)-RIS channel is quasi-static and the RIS-user equipment (UE) channel is fast time-varying. Specifically, in the first stage, we use the full-duplex technique to estimate the channel between a BS’s specific antenna and the RIS, addressing the critical scaling ambiguity problem in the channel decomposition. We then design a novel deep neural network, namely, the sparse-connected long short-term memory (SCLSTM), and propose a SCLSTM-based algorithm in the second and third stages, respectively. The algorithm can simultaneously decompose the BS-RIS channel and RIS-UE channel from the cascaded channel and capture the temporal relationship of the RIS-UE channel for prediction. Simulation results show that our proposed framework has lower pilot overhead than the traditional channel estimation algorithms, and the proposed SCLSTM-based algorithm can also achieve more accurate CSI acquisition robustly and effectively. The significant environmental problem of heavy metals caused by industrial wastewaters is often not adequately addressed by conventional effluent treatment methods. The present study has explored the possibility of using eco-friendly and cost-effective to address this issue through the development of a bio-adsorbent based Mn–modified diatomite covered by date seed waste-derived (DS@Mn–Dt) for removal Cd(II) using the batch method. The prepared bio-adsorbent was well characterized by XRD, TGA, FTIR, XPS, SEM, TEM and nitrogen adsorption isotherms to confirm the structural, morphological, and chemical properties. A systematic approach was adopted to analyses how factors such as contact time, initial pH of the solution and temperature influence the adsorption capacity of DS@Mn–Dt. The results demonstrated that the maximum Cd(II) adsorption capacity (q eq ) of 104.5 mg.g −1 could be achieved when the adsorption time was 120 min and solution pH was at 6.0. The adsorption data could be well fitted by the Langmuir isotherm model (R 2 = 0.99). The adsorption process could be described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model (R 2 = 0.99). A thermodynamic study showed that Cd(II) adsorption process was spontaneous and endothermic in nature due to the negative value of Gibbs free energy (ΔG) and positive value of the enthalpy (ΔH). After six times of reuse, the removal efficiency was 82.5 mg.g –1 . In conclusion, DS@Mn–Dt bio-adsorbent was a promising adsorbent for heavy metals.

For analyzing behaviors of hairiness entanglement during fabric pilling, nonlinear dynamic motion equations are deduced based on the elastic thin rod element, combined with the moving characteristics of hairiness, which follow the principles of mechanical equilibrium and energy conservation. The finite element simulation model of the effects of hairiness performance on behaviors of hairiness entanglement was established by ABAQUS. The analysis solution values of nonlinear dynamics were compared with the finite element simulation results. The results showed that hairiness elastic modulus, hairiness friction coefficient and hairiness diameter have significant effects on frictional dissipation energy, strain energy and kinetic energy produced by hairiness entanglement during pilling. Compared the finite element simulation results with analysis solution values, they are in good agreement. The fitness is greater than 0.96, which verifies the validity of finite element method. © 2021, CC BY.

In the power industry, there are a lot of image and video data need to be analyzed to find out equipment abnormalities such as bolt looseness and out of stock. Using artificial intelligence technology for image analysis can reduce the artificial dependence, but the general object detection algorithms, such as SSD, can not get a good detection effect for small targets. In this paper, we proposed an improved SSD object recognition algorithm to improve the recognition accuracy of small targets, based on the characteristics of power image recognition requirements. The method can improve the ability of SSD framework to understand small objects and enhance the location information and semantic information of the small targets. The method introduce the deconvolution structure to act on the shallow feature layer Conv4-3 and then use pooling layer to get the fixed size. Finally the method made Conv14 upsampled to the same size, and make full use of the information of small targets. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve the good recognition accuracy. © 2019 IEEE.
