Overall Thermal Performances of Double-Wall Effusion Cooling Covered by Simulated Thermal Barrier Coatings

A coupling configuration of double-wall cooling and exterior surface thermal barrier coating(TBC)is one of the most promising thermal protection methods of hot components of modem gas *** combined influences of coating thickness,impingement layout,and cooling air flowrate on the overall thermal performances of such configuration were discussed deeply,to provide the valuable guidance of *** effectiveness measurements were implemented under engine-matched Biot numbers and mainstream-to-coolant temperature *** heat transfer simulations provided the additional information difficult to be acquired by the *** results indicated that the contribution of TBC is much larger than that of increasing the cooling air *** thicker TBC can produce the stronger insulation,while the higher risk of thermal damage of *** larger coolant flowrate enlarges the benefit of TBC,while the trend is suppressed by the thick *** constant coating thickness cannot bring to the uniform metal temperature,which can be solved through properly adjusting the backside *** trends in overall effectiveness with TBC’s thickness are independent on the change of internal impingement.

To conduct research on selective maintenance decision optimization for the metro rail system, a selective maintenance decision optimization model is established. This model considers non-maintenance, incomplete maintenance, and replacement maintenance as possible maintenance behaviors. Constrained by a given sky-light time and other maintenance resources, the model is formulated to optimize equipment reliability of the metro rail system. The optimal selective maintenance scheme is obtained by solving the model using genetic algorithm. Through case analysis and comparison results, the selective maintenance decision optimization model for metro track can provide the most reasonable maintenance decisions under limited maintenance resources. The model offers theoretical support and decision support for intelligent maintenance of the metro rail system. © 2024 IEEE.

Although disintegrated dolomite,widely distributed across the globe,has conventionally been a focus of research in underground engineering,the issue of slope stability issues in disintegrated dolomite strata is gaining increasing *** is primarily due to their unique properties,including low strength and loose *** methods for evaluating slope stability,such as basic quality(BQ)and slope stability probability classification(SSPC),do not adequately account for the poor integrity and structural fragmentation characteristic of disintegrated *** address this challenge,an analysis of the applicability of the limit equilibrium method(LEM),BQ,and SSPC methods was conducted on eight disintegrated dolomite slopes located in Baoshan,Southwest ***,conflicting results were ***,this paper introduces a novel method,SMRDDS,to provide rapid and accurate assessment of disintegrated dolomite slope *** method incorporates parameters such as disintegrated grade,joint state,groundwater conditions,and excavation *** findings reveal that six slopes exhibit stability,while two are considered partially ***,the proposed method demonstrates a closer match with the actual conditions and is more time-efficient compared with the BQ and SSPC ***,due to the limited research on disintegrated dolomite slopes,the results of the SMRDDS method tend to be conservative as a safety *** conclusion,the SMRDDS method can quickly evaluate the current situation of disintegrated dolomite slopes in the *** contributes significantly to disaster risk reduction for disintegrated dolomite slopes.

With the surge in the number of low earth orbit (LEO) satellites, continuous research has emerged on using satellite data to train artificial intelligence models. On one hand, traditional centralized training on the ground is not feasible due to privacy concerns and limited bandwidth for downloading raw satellite data. On the other hand, due to the limited energy and computational capability of satellites, training directly on satellites suffers from prolonged latency, especially for large models. To alleviate these issues, we propose a novel satellite-ground collaborative federated fine-tuning architecture, where ground stations (GSs) and satellites collaboratively train a global model without the need for data downloads. In this proposed architecture, satellites serve as edge devices and the ground server serves as a coordinator. However, the short satellite-ground communication windows caused by the high mobility of satellites and the substantial intra-orbit data transmission bring special challenges to the transmission process of federated edge learning. To tackle these challenges, we carefully design the satellite-ground collaborative fine-tuning architecture and utilize an optimized ring all-reduce algorithm and network flow algorithm to enhance the intra-orbit and ground-satellite transmissions, respectively. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed architecture significantly reduces the training time by 40% compared to training solely on satellite. © 2024 IEEE.

In the high-temperature operation of very high-temperature gas-cooled reactors (VHTRs), "microclimate reaction" are one of the key corrosion reactions of concern. This study investigates the corrosion behavior and mechanisms of the two mainstream high-temperature alloys, Incoloy 800H and Inconel 617, under minor air ingress accidents. The main focus is on comparing and analyzing the "microclimate reaction" corrosion behavior and mechanisms of the two alloys, as well as exploring changes in their mechanical properties. The results show that during the experiment, both alloys primarily underwent oxidation and "microclimate reaction". The double-layer oxide of Cr2 O3 -MnCr2 O4 /MnFe2 O4 and the SiO2 layer on the surface of Incoloy 800H provide good resistance to "microclimate reaction," whereas the single-layer Cr2 O3 oxide on Inconel 617 is not effective in preventing "microclimate reaction". The mechanical property test results indicate that the decarburization caused by "microclimate reaction" does not significantly affect the basic mechanical properties of the alloy. Research on "microclimate reactions" should primarily focus on preventing the oxidation layer from cracking and reducing the time during which the alloy matrix is unprotected by a protective oxide layer. © 2024, The Authors. Energy-Efficient Wireless Federated Learning: A Secrecy Oriented design via Sequential Artificial Jamming

Wireless federated learning (FL) is envisioned as a promising paradigm of distributed learning in wireless networks without disclosing users' data privacy. However, radio channel leads to a potential risk of eavesdropping attack when sending the trained model data in wireless networks. To address this eavesdropping attack, in this work, we propose an energy-efficient wireless FL by using artificial jamming. Specifically, the group of wireless devices (WDs) adopt the time division multiple access (TDMA) approach to send their locally trained models to the FL server for model aggregation subject to the eavesdropping attack of a malicious node. When one of the WDs sends its local model, all the other WDs send the artificial jamming signals to interfere with the eavesdropper, which helps increase the secrecy throughput of the targeted WD for uploading its local model. Different from many existing studies using stochastic gradient descent (SGD), we adopt the stochastic average gradient (SAG) method in the local training to improve the convergence of FL and derive the corresponding lower bound of the FL convergence rate via SAG. Furthermore, we formulate an optimization problem that aims at minimizing the energy consumption of the WDs by jointly optimizing different WDs' local training time, their uploading transmission time in TDMA and the transmit-powers for providing artificial jamming, as well as the FL configurations of the local/global iterations. We also propose an efficient algorithm for solving this non-convex optimization problem. Numerical results are illustrated to validate the advantages of our design of wireless FL and the corresponding algorithms. In particular, the results demonstrate that our secrecy oriented energy-efficient FL can significantly outperform the other heuristic FL schemes. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Electromagnetic pulse (EMP) protection has attracted more and more attention in the field of ships and some EMP equipments have been developed. Pulse current injection (PCI) test can well verify the EMP effect of equipment by injecting high current into the equipment cable and monitoring the residual current. We conducted PCI tests for two types of UPS equipments and found that the crosstalk between the cables was severe. Therefore, we conducted electromagnetic simulations for these two types of equipments to find the optimal layout of the cables to reduce the impact of crosstalk. © 2022 IEEE.
