Everyone has a fundamental desire for sleep. By sleeping, humans can conserve energy and replenish their stamina to optimal levels. Lighting is one component that influences the quality of a person's sleep. One of them is a person who sleeps with the lights on, suffers from nyctophobia, has poor sleep quality, and may be responsible for several illnesses. This study aims to develop a smart lighting device that will aid in treating youngsters with nyctophobia to get used to sleeping with the lights off to improve their sleep quality. The case study methodology used in this study entails the development of a prototype. This method employs an oximeter as a heart rate detector and a sensor comparison as the measurement device. Arduino Uno circuit and heart rate sensor are the main devices in this research. At the same time, the NRF 24L01 is a communication medium between the two Arduino Uno boards. The experimental measurements in normal conditions indicate that the heart rate sensor was nearly the same as the value displayed by the oximeter. Similarly, after running for 1 minute, both devices produced almost identical results, with an average difference of 1 Beats Per Minute (BPM). According to experiments with a heart rate sensor, the switch-off condition can be activated if the heart rate hits 90 BPM. In this case, the light will switch off once the heart rate hits 70 BPM, which might be used for sleeping individuals.

Integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) has emerged as a pivotal enabling technology for next-generation wireless networks. Despite the distinct signal design requirements of sensing and communication (S&C) systems, shifting the symbol-wise pulse shaping (SWiPS) framework from communication-only systems to ISAC poses significant challenges in signal design and processing This paper addresses these challenges by examining the ambiguity function (AF) of the SWiPS ISAC signal and introducing a novel pulse shaping design for single-carrier ISAC transmission. We formulate optimization problems to minimize the average integrated sidelobe level (ISL) of the AF, as well as the weighted ISL (WISL) while satisfying inter-symbol interference (ISI), out-of-band emission (OOBE), and power constraints. Our contributions include establishing the relationship between the AFs of both the random data symbols and signaling pulses, analyzing the statistical characteristics of the AF, and developing algorithmic frameworks for pulse shaping optimization using successive convex approximation (SCA) and alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) approaches. Numerical results are provided to validate our theoretical analysis, which demonstrate significant performance improvements in the proposed SWiPS design compared to the root-raised cosine (RRC) pulse shaping for conventional communication systems. The Internet of Things (IoT) is now growing dramatically on various levels and helps to digitize various vital industries quickly. The most difficult obstacle for BCIs to overcome is the fact that not everyone has the same brain. Every new session requires the BCI to learn from the user's brain, which is accomplished via the use of machine learning. However, this learning process is time-consuming. Calibration time refers to the amount of time it takes for the BCI to adapt to the user's brain in order to properly categorize their thoughts and determine their meaning. The patient has had to wait an arduous and tiresome length of time for the system to be completely functioning up until now because of this calibration, which may take up to 20-30 minutes. The aim of this paper was to find a way to decrease the amount of time required for calibration to the smallest amount feasible. In the first section of this paper, a first effort is made to determine the optimum number of features required for the BCI to operate reasonably, taking into consideration all of the calibration data provided. When the results were averaged across five participants, the percentage of properly identified thoughts was just 67.15 percent. Transfer learning was used in order to improve the performance of the BCI while simultaneously decreasing the calibration time. It is feasible to decrease the amount of calibration required for the categorization of thoughts coming from a new target subject by using knowledge collected from previously recorded subjects to the greatest extent possible in transfer learning. It was determined that existing methods were superior, and a new methodology was created that required just 24 seconds of calibration data while accurately identifying 86.8% of the thoughts. Investigation of Heat Transfer and Flow Boiling Characteristics of a New Symmetric Cosine Mini-Channel Heat Exchanger with High Heat Flow Density

A novel symmetric cosωx mini-channel heat exchanger (SCMC) with a combined bionic leaf vein diverter with ethanol as coolant is designed to meet the heat dissipation requirements for high heat flux chips. The mini-channel is firstly passed through a bionic leaf vein diverter to ensure the uniformity of the liquid distribution in the different mini-channels. Firstly, the homogeneity of the liquid distribution in different mini-channels is ensured by a bionic leaf vein divertor. Then, in order to obtain the flow characteristics and bubble features in the channel under conjugate conditions, a systematic three-dimensional numerical study is carried out by coupling the phase transition model with the volume of fluid (VOF) model. It is found that the symmetric distribution structure of the SCMC flow channel not only provides nucleation points for bubble generation, but also provides rupture points for large bubbles that can block the flow channel due to bubble aggregation, which reduces the instability of phase transition heat. Compared with the smooth flow channel structure of ω=1 and ω=1.5, the steep structure of ω=2 not only helps the mixing of coolant, but also increases the probability of bubbles hitting the sharp structure, which is more helpful for the rupture of large bubbles. In addition, the effects of waviness (ω ~ 0-2) and inlet velocity (Re ~ 234.07-1170.37) on the heat transfer performance under non-constant flow boiling conditions are investigated. The results show that the heat transfer capacity of SCMC increases firstly and then decreases with the increase of ω and subsequently increases again with the constant Re. The performance factor shows a decrease and then increases, which gets the maximum value at ω=2 and still shows an increasing trend. In the case of constant ω, the heat transfer capacity of SCMC is enhanced with the increase of Re, but the enhancement trend gradually slows down, and the performance factor shows a trend of increasing at first an

design for continuous fiber-reinforced polymer additive manufacturing (CFRP-AM) has evolved from sequential approaches to concurrent design methods, enabling the simultaneous optimization of structural topology and fiber toolpaths. However, existing studies fails to consider the manufacturing constraints inherent to CFRP-AM, such as toolpath width consistency and fiber continuity, which are critical to achieving both performance and manufacturability. To address these challenges, this study proposes an extended integrated structure and toolpath optimization (ISTO) method for CFRP-AM that embeds manufacturing constraints directly into the optimization problem formulation. Specifically, the toolpath width consistency constraint is modeled as a function of the scalar field gradient, with deviations minimized through standard deviation control to ensure uniform fiber deposition. The fiber continuity constraint is quantified through a penalty term derived from the logical interplay between structural and toolpath variables, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted fiber toolpaths. The method enables the concurrent optimization of structural topology and fiber toolpaths, generating designs that are both structurally robust and practically manufacturable. Case studies, including a Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) benchmark and applications in lightweight robotic systems, demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in improving manufacturability and structural performance. This method not only bridges the gap between theoretical structural design and practical manufacturing implementation but also provides a novel design paradigm for structural components in lightweight robotic systems, highlighting its potential for broader engineering applications.

The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of sensory conflict on the occurrence and severity of simulator sickness in a flight simulator. According to the sensory conflict theory, it is expected that providing motion cues that match the visual cues will reduce the discrepancy between the sensory inputs and thus reduce simulator sickness. We tested the effect of motion cues thorough a human subject experiment with a spherical type motion platform. After completing pre-experiment questionnaire including Motion Sickness Susceptibility Questionnaire (MSSQ) and Immersive Tendency Questionnaire (ITQ), two groups of participants conducted a flight simulation session with or without motion cues for 40 min. In the simulation session, participants were asked to fly through the gates sequentially arranged along the figure-eight shaped route. The Simulator Sickness Questionnaire (SSQ) was filled out after the exposure to compare groups between with and without motion cues. Physiological data, including electrodermal activity, heart rate, blood volume pressure, and wrist temperature were also collected to find the relationship with perceived simulator sickness. The results showed that simulator sickness and disorientation significantly lowered in motion-based group. Also, nausea and oculomotor were marginally lower when motion cue was given. This study supports sensory conflict theory. Providing proper motion cue corresponding to the visual flow could be considered to prevent simulator sickness. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

This paper takes information features of the main control room display of nuclear power plant for analysis, in which the design factors are extracted base on the monitoring interface task and visual cognitive law. With respect to the visual design method of interface presentation, we explore the design of the information display system of boron and water supply system. We determine the important information elements that can be improved in monitoring behavior, and optimize them according to their characteristic attributes. We group interface information according to task relevance, and design the color coding of the group information according to the structure of visual perception and the characteristics of color perception level. The information color between different levels could be adjusted according to readability and importance. The results of experiments verify the validity of the color coding method based on attention capture. According to the results, a visual design model of nuclear power control system information is established based on the research from the local interface icon to the overall presentation. This method can provide reference for the design of control system interface of nuclear power plant, and even improve the cognitive performance of operators and the safety and reliability of power plant operation. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The visual location of the information influences the searching efficiency of the monitoring task. In this paper, from the division of human eye’s visual regions, the task searching experiments of visual location in digital interactive interface are conducted. The experimental results show that, for target information blocks in the foveal and the parafoveal regions, the operators can finish the task searching efficiently and rapidly. However, when the target task is away from present fixation range’s parafoveal region, it will easily lead to sequence searching that will cost extra unnecessary task searching time, or even lead to failure of task searching. Therefore, the information layout design of digital interactive interface should be set successively in effective visual locations, i.e., the foveal and the parafoveal regions according to task order. This will satisfy the visual location rule and will efficiently improve the performance of task searching. © 2020 by Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. All rights reserved.

Due to the merits of high flow rate and high lift, double-suction centrifugal pumps are widely used for agricultural irrigation along the Yellow River in northern China. The operational conditions of the pump are highly related to the silt concentration and flow rates. Therefore, it is crucial to identify the vibration characteristics corresponding to different silt concentrations and flow rates to provide a prior guideline for pump condition monitoring. To this end, this paper explores the identification capabilities of typical intelligent models, including convolutional neural network (CNN), deep neural network (DNN), and support vector machine (SVM), to intelligently establish the connection between vibration characteristics and different flow rates and silt concentrations. Experimental studies on a double-section pump covering a range of flow rates and different silt concentrations are conducted. The results show that CNN features higher identification accuracy than DNN and SVM. © 2021 IEEE.

The control rod driving mechanism (CRDM) is one of the important equipments in the nuclear reactor, and its sealing shell is part of the pressure boundary of the nuclear reactor. The sealing shell is a pressure vessel made of two different material (austenitic stainless steel and nickel base alloy) cylinders welded by dissimilar metal welds. Product production process, in this dissimilar metal weld ray detection found suspected defects show. In this paper, the mechanism and process of the suspected defects are expounded through experimental verification, and it is proved that the suspected defects do not affect the quality of the weld.
