Among these were the Trident II fire control and navigation systems the BSY-I Anti-Submarine Warfare System and the Navy standard computers (UYK44 and EMSP). He served as manager of the Digital Circuits Engineering Branch and was then appointed as manager of the Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) Technology Division. As manager of the ATE Technology Division he was responsible for the SP-23 Fire Control System Support Project the SP-24 Navigation Project and the Fleet Progressive Maintenance Program (2M/ATE). This Division was responsible for selection and application of electronic product technology and for developing fleet test and repair techniques. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Evansville and is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Administration at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Dr. Alfred Skolnick:retired from the Navy in 1983 with the rank of captain. He is president of System Science Consultants (SSC) specializing in strategic planning technical program definition technology assessment and engineering analyses on selected matters of national interest. Dr. Skolnick taught mathematics and management sciences at University of Virginia and Marymount University. He is adjunct faculty at Northern Virginia Community College. From 1985 to 1989 he was president of the American Society of Naval Engineers. In the Navy he served at Applied Physics Laboratory/The Johns Hopkins University then aboard USSBoston(CAG-1) and played leading roles in several weapon system developments inertial navigation (Polaris) deep submergence (DSRV) and advanced ship designs (SES). He later was director Combat System Integration Naval Sea Systems Command and head Combat Projects Naval Ship Engineering Center. He received his B.S. in mechanical engineering in 1968 his M.S. in environmental engineering in 1975 and his Ph.D. in environmental engineering in 1983 all from Drexel University in Philadelphia. His research interests include evaluating representative ground water and surface water sampling techniques for trace levels of organic and inorganic compounds and designing new sampling devices. Thomas E. Imbrigiotta received a B.S. in chemistry with a concentration in environmental studies from Oakland University Rochester Michigan in 1975. He then attended the University of Wisconsin Madison and received an M.S. in water chemistry in 1982. He has been a hydrologist with the USGS Water Resources Division (810 Bear Tavern Rd. Ste. 206 West Trenton NJ 08628) since 1977. He worked in the Indiana District from 1977 to 1984 prior to coming to the New Jersey District. Currently he is project coordinator for the Picatinny Research project a study of the fate and transport of chlorinated solvents in ground water at Picatinny Arsenal New Jersey. Previously he was chief of a project evaluating sampling techniques for organics in ground water. James H. Ficken worked for the USGS Water Resources Division as a chemical engineer from 1964 to 1992. He received his B.S. in chemical engineering in 1962 from Washington University in St. Louis Missouri. His research interests were water quality instrumentation and sensors that measure real-time environmental data. He contributed as a team member to the design and development of the USGS water quality flow-through and mini-monitor system. Ficken passed away in 1992. James F. He received the B. Eng. degree in electrical engineering from Concordia University Montreal Canada in 1989. He is at present completing the M.A.Sc. degree in electrical engineering at Concordia University. (S'75–S'79–M'79–SM'86) received the Ph.D. degree from Southern Methodist University Dallas TX in 1979. He spent the next two years working as a Visiting Professor in Egypt after which he moved to Ottawa Canada in 1982. He assumed teaching and research positions in Carleton and Manitoba Univerities and later moved to Concordia University Montreal Canada in 1983 where he is now a Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. He has published numerous papers in IEEE and international journals in the areas of spread spectrum and networking. He is a well-known expert in these areas and serves as a consultant to many companies. He has developed and directed mutual support programs assisting the Supervisor of Shipbuilding Brooklyn and has participated in the training and mutual support programs at the Supervisor of Shipbuilding Bath. He received a Ph.D. and M.S. in materials science and engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology Hoboken N.J. A 1977 graduate of the United States Naval Academy Cdr. Golda has been a member of ASNE since 1974. Cdr. Golda is a materials engineer at the Annapolis Detachment Carderock Division Naval Surface Warfare Center working on naval applications of superconducting technology. LCdr. Gregory A. Porpora:is an IBM market support representative who provides technical consulting support in application development with computer aided software engineering (CASE) tools. Prior to joining IBM he was a senior design engineer for a defense contractor involved in design and development of radar and ASW systems including the AN/BSY-1 combat system trainer. LCdr. Porpora is a member of IEEE the Naval Institute and the Naval Reserve Association. He holds a BSEE and MSEE from the Polytechnic Institute of Technology New York. LCdr. Porpora is currently assigned to NR SupShip Det 502 which provides extensive mutual support for the Supervisor of Shipbuilding Bath and the resident office in Brooklyn New York.

作者: LEVEDAHL, WJ The Author:is the assistant for technology in the Machinery Research and Development Dictorate of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division Annapolis Md. After a 50-mission tour as a P-51 Mustang pilot he received a B.S. in general engineering from MIT and was elected to Sigma Xi. He subsequently studied gas turbines and aeronautical engineering at the Federal Polytechnic Institute in Zurich Switzerland and as a National Science Foundation fellow he received his Doktor Ingenieur at the Technical University of Aachen Germany. He conducted basic research in combustion at the National Bureau of Standards and was head of advanced core design at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (General Electric) during the 1950s when the currently used reactor cores were designed. He then joined Combustion Engineering as chief project physicist in the design of central-station reactors. Subsequently he became manager of research at Martin Marietta involved largely in direct energy conversion for outer space. In 1970 he joined the Annapolis Laboratory to establish the Superconductive Electric Propulsion Program and in 1974 assumed his present position. He has received the Distinguished Flying Cross the Meritorious Civilian Service Award 10 patents and is the author of many technical papers.

In his present capacity he is involved in the development of metal matrix composite (MMC) materials for spacecraft and thermal management applications. Prior to this MMC work he was involved in the development of test methods and improvements for ordnance devices and materials. He is also involved with both the SDIO Materials and Structures Programs and with various Navy Manufacturing Technology Programs. He holds a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from the University of Maryland. Kevin Beasley:has been employed at the Naval Weapons Support Center Crane Indiana since 1981 and assigned to the Packaging Design Branch since 1986. There he specializes in U.S. Navy electronic hardware development. He graduated from Purdue University in 1981 with a bachelor degree in aeronautics and astronautics engineering. Currently he is pursuing a master's of mechanical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology William De La Torre:at Research Opportunities Inc. (November 1987 - Present) has coordinated all projects applying composite materials to electronic packaging. In this capacity he has been the project engineer on two SBIR contracts that optimized the composite architecture for thermal planes in Navy standard electronic modules which have undergone system qualification tests at Naval Weapons Support Center. He has guided the development of coating materials and processes for composite thermal planes. He has devised experiments to demonstrate the thermal transfer characteristics of composite materials through infrared thermography and test fixtures simulating the standard electronic module environment.
