In smart communities which refers to communities that leverage the use of technologies to benefit their citizens, it is necessary to ensure data interoperability among services and secure data operations. Particularly, it is necessary to manage the data path of services based on edge computing to consider the level of privacy between regions and at different network layers. FIWARE, a smart city operating system(OS) that has been recently deployed in several cities, provides an application programming interface (API) based on common rules to ensure interoperability and to enable coordination and distribution of services and data. However, the data distribution control component is assumed to be placed in the cloud, and it does not have a distribution management mechanism. In this study, within the architecture of FIWARE, we have built a mechanism that manages data paths on an edge by using tags of dataflows which is associated with the personal information in the packets. Additionally, we implemented a benchmark and measured a processing delay for gathering personal information. In the simulation environment, the processing time delay was 0.05 seconds by using proposed system when the control component is placed in the egde area. © 2022 IEEE.

Heuristics are commonly used to tackle various search and optimization problems. design heuristics usually require tedious manual crafting with domain knowledge. Recent works have incorporated Large Language Models (LLMs) into automatic heuristic search, leveraging their powerful language and coding capacity. However, existing research focuses on the optimal performance on the target problem as the sole objective, neglecting other criteria such as efficiency and scalability, which are vital in practice. To tackle this challenge, we propose to model the heuristic search as a multiobjective optimization problem and consider introducing additional practical criteria beyond optimal performance. Due to the complexity of the search space, conventional multiobjective optimization methods struggle to effectively handle LLM-based multi-objective heuristic search. We propose the first LLM-based multi-objective heuristic search framework, Multi-objective Evolution of Heuristic (MEoH), which integrates LLMs in a zero-shot manner to generate a nondominated set of heuristics to meet multiple design criteria. We design a new dominance-dissimilarity mechanism for effective population management and selection, which incorporates both code dissimilarity in the search space and dominance in the objective space. MEoH is demonstrated in two well-known combinatorial optimization problems: the online Bin Packing Problem (BPP) and the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP). The results indicate that a variety of elite heuristics are automatically generated in a single run, offering more trade-off options than the existing methods. It successfully achieves competitive or superior performance while improving efficiency up to 10 times. Moreover, we also observe that the multi-objective search introduces novel insights into heuristic design and leads to the discovery of diverse heuristics. Anomaly detection is one of the key applications of data utilization in smart factories, particularly in monitoring factory facilities. Early detection and resolution of anomalies, such as system failures, can lead to cost reduction and quality stabilization. One of the targets of abnormality detection applications in the industry section is a refrigerator unit used in food processing factories and warehouses. Anomalies in the early stages in refrigerator units appear in the operating sounds, which can enable their detection. In this study, we propose a method for detecting abnormal sound, extracting abnormal frequency components, and identifying the direction of the abnormal sound source. To identify the direction of the anomalous sound source, multi-channel sound recorded by a microphone array is used. To the best of our knowledge, no method has yet been proposed for anomaly sound detection using multi-channel acoustic data. In the proposed method, anomaly scores calculated in each channel of the microphone array are aggregated to determine whether the entire data is anomalous or not. Anomalous sounds were extracted from the anomaly data using a deep generative model. The extracted anomalous sounds were used to localize the sound source and the direction of the anomalous source was identified. The proposed method improved the precision of anomaly sound detection while maintaining the recall rate of a conservative comparison method. Using the proposed method, anomalous sounds were extracted from the anomaly data, and their arrival directions were identified. © 2022 IEEE.

To increase power density in nuclear reactors, the helical cruciform fuel (HCF) is designed as a fundamental element. HCF takes advantages of strong mixing effects, self-supporting features, and strengthened heat transfer, potential to increase the fuel performance in nuclear reactors. In this paper, friction factor and heat transfer coefficient empirical correlations of HCF single rod cooled by water were proposed using a geometric dimensionless number based on numerical simulation. The velocity field, and temperature distribution were obtained to discuss influences of geometric sizes on the fuel performance. Finally, correlations with a geometric dimensionless number were validated with various cases, whose application conditions were also proposed and discussed. This paper provides a guide for study of heat transfer and fluid flow in helical structures, and a reference for establishment of reactor system model using helical cruciform fuels. © 2024, The Authors. A 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) is one of the most commonly used tools for evaluating cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). In clinical, the conventional Ag/AgCl electrodes with conductive gel are usually used to monitor ECG, but they may encounter gel drying and skin allergic reaction problems for long-term ECG monitoring. In order to improve the above issue, several dry electrodes, made by conductive materials, was proposed in the design of wearable devices, but they still encounter the problems of electrode shifting and stretching, and the risk of skin irritation. Capacitive electrode can access biopotential without contacting skin directly and can completely avoid skin irritation. However, for capacitive electrode, how to maintain a good electrode-skin contacting condition is still a challenge due to electrode fixation problem, in particular in multichannel ECG measurement. In this study, a 12-lead ECG smart clothing based on capacitive sensing technology was proposed to monitor ECG in daily life. To improve the electrode-skin contacting condition, elastic conductive foams were used as the electrode plate to effectively fit the rough body contours. Moreover, a specific wearable belt mechanism was also designed to improve the convenience of use, and it could also provide good friction and proper pressure to reduce the electrode slippage and maintain a good electrode-skin contact condition. The experimental results showed that the proposed smart clothing could stably access the good ECG signal quality under different motion levels, and the specific ECG features corresponding to different CVDs could also be reflected on the measured ECG signal in clinical experiment. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Modular multilevel converter (MMC) has many advantages, such as low loss, flexible control and so on, which has been widely used in photovoltaic grid connected system. However, the photovoltaic output has some instability, and the damping of the flexible DC system is also low, which puts forward a severe test for the stable operation of the power grid. Firstly, this paper describes the basic structure of the photovoltaic system connected by MMC. Secondly, the photovoltaic grid connected system model based on PSCAD illustrates the fault current characteristics under DC side fault, and simulates and analyzes the influence of different factors in the system on the fault current.

Because of the environmental friendliness of electric vehicles, research on electric vehicles has become a hot spot in recent years. How to charge electric vehicles faster is critical to the widespread use of electric vehicles. Electric vehicle integrated power unit can use bidirectional DC-DC converter for driving to achieve integrated charging. In order to improve the power density and efficiency of the integrated system, the bidirectional DC-DC for electric vehicle driving uses three-phase interleaved parallel technology. This paper proposes a method to select different interleaved phase numbers according to different output powers of the converter to improve the working efficiency of three-phase interleaved parallel DC-DC converters. This method improves the efficiency of the three-phase interleaved parallel converter under light load and widens the high-efficiency working area of the converter. Finally, simulations and experimental results are conducted to validate the efficiency of the design.

An Induction Curing Technique for Cfrp Laminate Via Magnetic Particle-Induced In-Situ Heating

Curing high-performance CFRP structures with economical and energy-efficient techniques other than oven or autoclave is important for the widespread application of the composite. In this work, a novel magnetic particle-induced in-situ heating method to cure CFRP laminates with various layup sequences was proposed. Heating characteristics, mechanical properties and porosities of [0]8, [0/90]4s and [0/45/90/-45]2s CFRP laminates were experimentally investigated. Results showed that all the laminates can undergo a consistent, layup-independent two-staged heating curve via regulating the magnetic field intensity. Under 5.5h curing time and 13wt% magnetic particle loading, flexural strength and modulus of three stacking-sequenced CFRP laminates cured by induction heating were 12.4%, 6.3%, 21.9% and 9.9%, 10.9%, 5.4% higher than oven cured counterparts. While porosity slightly increased by 0.85%, 0.62%, 0.56%. Although detailed parameterized research should be conducted, the proposed new curing method showed great potential for fabricating advanced CFRP composite structures without autoclave or oven. © 2024, The Authors.
