This article proposes a new multi-level inverter (MLI) based on flying capacitor inverter (FCI), with focused on high-precision positioning control for a voice coil motor (VCM). Multi-level inverters (MLIs) have the characteristic that increasing the number of output voltage levels reduces the output voltage error. However, as the number of levels increases, the number of circuit elements increases, and the circuit becomes more complex. In addition, the output voltage amplitude for each level is constant in conventional inverters. As a result, such as high-precision positioning control of VCM, designing an appropriate inverter for a reference wave that contains a large amount of low-voltage components increases the number of circuit elements. Therefore, this paper proposes a MLI with two unbalanced dc-input voltages, referred to as unbalanced MLIs (UMLIs) hereinafter. This topology uses two different dc-input voltages, and it is possible to reduce the output voltage level in extremely low-voltage range compared to other voltage levels. Simulation results when the high-precision positioning control of the VCM confirm that the proposed UMLIs improves the control performance compared to the conventional FCIs with equal number of output voltage levels and uniform level widths.

This paper investigates the robust containment control problem of uncertain heterogeneous linear multi-agent systems with unbounded transmission delays under some mild assumptions. A novel distributed output feedback control strategy is proposed based on the distributed observer approach and the internal model principle. It is shown that under the proposed control strategy, the output of each follower converges to the convex hull spanned by the outputs of the leaders and the concerned time delayed system is analyzed by the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional method. A simulation example is provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

This paper investigates the containment control problem of heterogeneous linear multi-agent systems with nonuniform bounded distributed communication delays under an assumption that only the neighboring agents of multiple leaders have access to the information on both the system matrices and the states of multiple leaders. Adaptive distributed observers under nonuniform distributed communication delays are proposed to estimate both the system matrices and the states of multiple leaders without the prior knowledge of communication delays. This paper presents a battery-input hysteretic buck converter with 430nA quiescent current for wearable biomedical devices. The converter input range is 2.5–4.2 V for rechargeable Li-ion battery and the output is fixed at 1.2 V. To reduce the quiescent power consumption and enhance the power efficiency at light load condition, the PFM controlled buck converter employs a hysteretic comparator with dynamic biasing circuit to reduce the current consumption during idle state. A delay compensation circuit is optimized for the comparator in zero current detector (ZCD) to maximize the overall power efficiency. This converter is implemented in a standard 55nm CMOS BCDLITE process with active circuit area of 0.8mm×0.8mm. Postlayout simulations show the circuit can achieve 5×10 4 load current dynamic range in 2 μA– 100 mA, and higher than 85% efficiency is maintained between 10 μA and 100mA with a peak efficiency of 88.6%.
