DS evidence theory is a widely used uncertainty inference algorithm for decision fusion that can fuse this complementary and redundant information to reduce the uncertainty of the system. Evidence conflict is the most common problem in the application of DS evidence theory, and how to resolve the conflict is the key to obtaining reasonable and reliable decision results. To resolve the evidence conflicts, numerous scholars have used different distance functions to improve the DS combination rule to effectively manage the conflicting evidence. However, there are only few relevant studies that address the performance of different distance functions for handling evidence conflicts. Therefore, this paper discusses the performance of five distance functions (Euclidean distance function, Manhattan distance function, Minkowsky distance function, Jffreys distance function and Camberra distance function) to handle evidence conflicts by performing simulations in a fault diagnosis system for typical mechanical vibration signals. © 2022 IEEE.

Direct contact condensation (DCC) is widely occurred in nuclear power systems and leads to undesired phenomena such as condensation-induced water hammer. For ocean nuclear power ships, DCC is inevitable in the passive heat removal system and influenced by sea conditions. In this paper, the characteristics of DCC under rolling conditions are analyzed. The numerical model of DCC is established based on computational fluid dynamics approach. The VOF model, SST k–ω turbulence model and the additional inertia force model are incorporated to describe the liquid-gas two-phase flow under the rolling motion. The condensation model based on surface renewal theory (SRT) is used to simulate steam-water DCC phenomenon. The simulation results are compared with the experimental data and show reasonable agreement. The effects of rolling motion on DCC for steam injection into a horizontal pipe filled with cold water are numerically investigated. The results show that the additional inertial forces and the average condensation rate increase with the increase of the rolling angle and frequency. The reverse flow of the seawater induced by rolling motion leads to the accumulation of the steam at the lower part of the pipe, resulting in a large pressure pulse. With the increase of rolling angle and frequency, the pressure pulse induced by DCC increases. © 2023, The Author(s).

Large reaction cross-sections, low operating voltage, extended lifespan, good stability, and suitability for high-temperature and intense gamma radiation settings are among the features of boron-coated proportional counter tubes. Consequently, it has been extensively employed in the nuclear-measuring system outside of the reactor, where the source range detector is a boron-coated proportional counter tube. This paper studies boron-coated proportional counter tubes using a comprehensive approach that combines Monte Carlo simulation with lifespan prediction in health management. The wavelet packet decomposition approach was used to extract feature information from the pulse signals of the boron-coated proportional counter tube. A counter tube defect prediction model was established based on a multi-kernel correlation vector machine, where the impact of different wavelet packets and correlation vector machine kernel functions on the model's prediction performance was examined. The study's findings demonstrated that the particle swarm optimization algorithm-optimized multi-kernel correlation vector machine model exhibited superior prediction accuracy for the counter tubes' future operating conditions. The primary goal is to comprehend how gas loss affects gas pressure and to determine the lifespan of detectors within a detector system. © 2024 IEEE.

Two-phase flow water hammer events occur in the pipelines of the nuclear power systems and lead to transient and violent pressure shock to tube structures. For the sake of operation safety, the occurrence and severity of the two-phase water hammer should be carefully assessed. This paper presents a parameter analysis of the inlet conditions on the two-phase flow water hammer transients, with considering the elastic effect of the tube walls. A numerical model is established for the vapor-liquid two-phase flow based on the two-fluid six-equation modelling approach, with incorporating correlations and criterions for two-phase flow regime, interfacial interactions and heat transfer. The governing equations are transformed to matrix form expressed by characteristic variables, and solved using the splitting operator method and the total variation diminishing scheme. The accuracy of the model is verified against the experimental data in open literature. Then, the model is applied to investigate the effect of inlet velocity and inlet water temperature on the two-phase flow water hammer transients. The simulation results show that the increase of inlet velocity increases the pressure peak values and brings forward the onset of water hammer, and the increase of inlet temperature decreases the pressure shock. A comparison of the water hammer results between the elastic tube and rigid tube is further presented, and the effect of the elastic modulus on the water hammer is analyzed. The results also show that the pressure peak is largely affected by the tube diameter. © 2023, The Author(s).

As the development of computer science technology and the requirement of thorough research, more researchers are setting their eyes on coupling method because of the tight coupling in NPP (nuclear power plant) system. However there were few researches studying the difference between decoupling and coupling methods and the importance of coupling method. This research respectively establishes the primary and secondary loop decoupling models and the two loops coupling model based on the small NPP by APROS. Then the differences between the decoupling and coupling models is studied under the steady state and dynamic state which contains the ramp load variation and load shedding. The results show that there are small differences between these models in the main parameter values under the steady state. But the differences between decoupling models and coupling model are large. Therefore the NPP system needs be modeled by coupling method as to study its dynamic characteristic. © 2023, The Author(s).

Investigation on the Influence of Entrained Air to Internal Flow of Centrifugal Pumps under Cavitation Condition

The introduction of air is often used in engineering to delay the occurrence of cavitation. A steady simulation on a single-stage and single-suction centrifugal pump was used to study the influence of the air on the internal flow under cavitation condition at 1% inlet void fraction. Steady simulation based on SST k-ω turbulence model and Rayleigh-Plesset cavitation model included in Ansys CFX 17.0 were processed to obtain vapor volume fraction, gas volume fraction and the turbulent energy of the impeller under the condition of natural cavitation and cavitation with entrained air. A homogeneous two-phase flow model was adopted to describe the air-water mixed flow. The experimental cavitation performance curve provides boundary condition support for the numerical simulation. In conclusion, it shows that the head of the pump keeps steady after 1% air entrained like natural cavitation. Then it goes worse when the cavitation number decreases but with lower NPSHr which means cavitation performance is improved by 1% air entrained. It indicated that the entrained air changes the distribution of the vapor in the passage of the impeller. However, the descent of the pressure over a certain value will also do harm to the internal flow of the model pump whether it is ventilati ng or not. The internal flow of the pump will be seriously damaged and even be blocked completely due to more and more vapor generated causing a dramatic decline of the head. © 2022, Turbomachinery Society of Japan. The accurate prediction of critical heat flux(CHF) is of great significance to the safe operation of the reactor. At present, most of the traditional methods for predicting CHF are based on relational fitting in mathematical form, which are not accurate enough and may can not taking full advantage of experimental data. Therefore, a prediction model based on random forest algorithm (RF) is proposed, the model is based on CHF 2006 look-up table, and the accuracy and smoothness of the model have been verified when predicting CHF. In this paper, the variation trend of CHF predicted value and actual value with pressure, mass flow rate and thermodynamic quality is given. It has been verified that the error of this method is acceptable, the predicted value is in good agreement with the experimental value, and conforms to the corresponding physical laws, which can provide a reference for the development of high-precision CHF prediction models or CHF-related experiments. In view of the quality problems of manual TIG coating of cobalt-based alloy, the Laser Additive Manufacturing process was studied, especially the optimization of process parameters. Liquid metal has the advantages of high boiling point and strong thermal conductivity and is selected as the coolant for a new generation nuclear system. In addition, the narrow rectangular channel is used in the small reactors or research reactors due to its compact structure and high heat transfer capacity. In order to accurately simulate the turbulent heat transfer of liquid metals in narrow rectangular channels, based on the relevant experimental data, this paper explored suitable numerical simulation methods. First of all, according to the research object, the appropriate experimental data was selected, and the geometric modeling, mesh division, and the mesh independence verification were carried out. It was ensured that the y+ meets the requirements of each turbulence model and wall treatment model. Several typical turbulence models and the wall treatment models were evaluated. For the low Prandtl number fluid such as liquid metal, it is necessary to select a suitable turbulent Prandtl number model in the RANS simulation. The sensitivity of the calculation results to the turbulent Prandtl number was analyzed. Finally, the existing turbulent Prandtl number models were evaluated. The suitable at different Pe was given based on experimental value, so that the turbulent heat transfer of liquid metal in a narrow rectangular channel can be accurately simulated.
