We present the analysis of a comprehensive sample of 352 early-type galaxies using public data, to investigate the correlations between CO luminosities and mid-infrared luminosities observed by Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). We find strong correlations between both CO (1-0) and CO (2-1) luminosities and 12 μm luminosity, boasting a correlation coefficient greater than 0.9 and an intrinsic scatter smaller than 0.1 dex. The consistent slopes observed for the relationships of CO (1-0) and CO (2-1) suggest that the line ratio R21 lacks correlation with mid-infrared emission in early-type galaxies, which is significantly different from star-forming galaxies. Moreover, the slopes of LCO(1−0)–L12μm and LCO(2−1)–L12μm relations in early-type galaxies are steeper than those observed in star-forming galaxies. Given the absence of correlation with color, morphology or sSFR, the correlation between deviations and the molecular gas mass surface density could be eliminated by correcting the possible 12 μm emission from old stars or adopting a systematically different αCO. The latter, on average, is equivalent to adding an constant CO brightness density, specifically 2.8−+00.86 [K km s−1] and 4.4−+21.24 [K km s−1] for CO (1-0) and (2-1) respectively. These explorations will serve as useful tools for estimating the molecular gas content in gas-poor galaxies and understanding associated quenching processes. © 2024, CC BY.

A single baffle metal–insulator–metal(MIM)waveguide coupled with a semi-circular cavity and a cross-shaped cavity is proposed based on the multiple Fano resonance characteristics of surface plasmon polaritons(SPPs)subwavelength *** isolated state formed by two resonators interferes with the wider continuous state mode formed by the metal baffle,forming Fano resonance that can independently be tuned into five different *** formation mechanism of Fano resonance is analyzed based on the multimode interference coupled mode theory(MICMT).The finite element method(FEM)and MICMT are used to simulate the transmission spectra of this structure and analyze the influence of structural parameters on the refractive index sensing *** the transmission responses calculated by the FEM simulation are consistent with the MICMT theoretical results very *** results show that the figure of merit(FOM)can reach 193 and the ultra-high sensitivity is 1600 nm/RIU after the structure parameters have been optimized,and can provide theoretical basis for designing the high sensitive refractive index sensors based on SPPs waveguide for high-density photonic integration with excellent performance in the near future.

Electrolytic capacitor is widely selected as output capacitor in DC-DC converter, while it has limited reliability. Monitoring the equivalent series resistance (ESR) is an effective method to diagnostic the output capacitor. In this paper, an online monitoring scheme of ESR is present for discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) Buck converters. Based on the output ripple voltage, the model of ESR is established. By sampling the output ripple voltage, the ESR is calculated using the sampled values. The proposed method reduces the current measurement and avoids the change of converter topology. The simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the method.

Ultra-wide bandgap Ga2O3 has many intriguing properties which make them potentially suitable for optoelectronic applications. However, its functionalities are largely hindered by the lack of p-type Ga2O3 based materials. In this work, we synthesized amorphous p-type transparent (Ga2O3)1-x(Cu2S)x alloy thin films with x19 cm-3 (x=~0.2) to ~2´1021 cm-3 (x=~0.5), with their hole mobility m~0.3 cm2V-1s-1. The hole transport in these amorphous alloys follows the variable-range-hopping mechanism in the temperature range of 120 K~300 K. We observe that the valence band maximum (VBM) position moves up rapidly by ~ 3 eV with x>0.2 to ~5.5 eV below the vacuum level, making the formation of native shallow acceptors more energetically favorable and hence enhancing their p-type conductivity. Our results show that electrical and optical properties of these amorphous p-type transparent (Ga2O3)1-x(Cu2S)x alloy thin films are potentially important in bipolar devices applications, e.g., Ga2O3 based p-n heterojunction power devices and high efficiency solar cells. © 2022, The Authors. We report multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock and relativistic configuration interaction calculations on the thallium (Tl) electron affinity, as well as on the excited energy levels arising from the ground configuration of Tl−. The results are compared with the available experimental values and further validated by extending the study to its homologous, lighter element, indium (In), belonging to group 13 (III.A) of the Periodic Table. The calculated electron affinities of In and Tl, 383.4 and 322.8 meV, agree with the latest measurements by within 1%. Three bound states 3P0,1,2 are confirmed in the 5s25p2 configuration of In−, while only the ground state 3P0 is bound in the 6s26p2 configuration of Tl−. The isotope shifts on the In and Tl electron affinities are also estimated. The E2 and M1 intraconfiguration radiative transition rates within 5s25p2 3P0,1,2 of In− are used to calculate the radiative lifetimes of the metastable 3P1,2 levels.

We present a systematic study of the anisotropy and polarization of x-ray line emissions in KLL dielectronic recombination of hydrogenlike Fe25+ ions. For the KLL dielectronic recombination considered, it consists of a resonant electron capture plus a two-step radiative decay. While the anisotropy and polarization of the first-step decay photons are calculated by using the flexible atomic code, those of the second-step decay photons are obtained with two methods, i.e., the formalism of the deorientation factor and density matrix theory. Resonance strengths are presented as well to synthesize the dielectronic satellite line spectra. The synthetic spectra including the correction of anisotropy and polarization effects show better agreement with existing experiments than previous calculations. This indicates that these effects are important for the intensity distribution of the dielectronic satellite lines.

Recently, the emergence of topological electride catalysts has attracted significant attention in the fields of condensed matter physics, chemistry, and materials science. In this study, we found that electride Hf 2 Se exhibits various types of topological quantum states under the constraint of symmetric operations, particularly the Weyl point (WP) located at the K valley. The WP is closely aligned with the Fermi level and generates an extensive Fermi arc surface state on the (001) surface. In addition, electride Hf 2 Se exhibits a lower work function on the (001) surface. Remarkably, electride Hf 2 Se exhibits extremely high stability in both air and water environments. The catalytic activity of electride Hf 2 Se for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was significantly improved by utilizing its robust surface state and low work function. Therefore, we provide a new insight into the application of electrides in HER.

We consider the geodesic motions in the Kerr-Sen-AdS4 spacetime. We obtain the equations of motion for light rays and test particles. Using the parametric diagrams, we shown some regions where the radial and latitudinal geodesic motions are allowed. We analyse the impact of parameter related to dilatonic scalar on the orbit and find that it will result in more rich and complex orbital types. © 2023, CC BY-NC-SA.

3-dimensional (3D) stacked-die package is one of the important package styles for MEMS inertial devices. Its unique packaging brings new challenges for its decapsulation method. In this paper, a new decapsulation method for 3D stacked-die packaged MEMS inertial devices is introduced with method's steps, technical flow and application. This decapsulation method is the combination of laser-decap and multi-steps chemical etching. It reveals the stacked-dies layer by layer and makes the possibility to analyze the structures in the MEMS inertial devices, such as accelerometer, gyroscope, ASIC, etc. It provides good technical support for inner-inspection of 3D stacked-die packaged MEMS inertial devices.

Monoclinic hafnia (m−HfO2) with its high dielectric permittivity (κ) and larger band gap of ∼5.5−5.9eV deposited as a few nanometers thick m−HfO2 thin film on a Si substrate was introduced as an effective gate oxide in complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor devices by Intel in 2007. However, the existence and complex anisotropic excitation characters of this centrosymmetric monoclinic crystal structure—which involve both single-particle and collective electron excitations such as plasmons, and include electron-hole (excitonic) and electron-electron (self-energy) interactions—remain elusive. Therefore, the electronic nature of the material needs to be explored in depth for applications in semiconductor technology. In this study, spatially and momentum-resolved electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) in conjunction with first-principles calculations of the electronic band structure and dielectric function have been employed to investigate electronic excitations in m−HfO2. The phase purity and crystallinity of m−HfO2 were confirmed by x-ray diffraction and EELS. Low-loss EELS performed using aloof electron beam setups and energy-filtered transmission electron microscopy spectrum imaging (EFTEM-SI) revealed spectral features at 13.5 and 16 eV energy loss assigned to surface plasmons and volume plasmons (VPs), respectively. Surface exciton polaritons (SEPs) with surface resonances associated with excitonic onsets above the band gap were also observed at ∼7.5 and ∼28eV energy loss. The surface excitation character of these features was confirmed by EFTEM-SI and relativistic calculations of energy versus momentum (E−k) maps. Using collection-angle (β) and momentum (q)-resolved EELS, it was found that the SEP intensity at ∼7.5eV energy loss is a function of β and q, and no anisotropic shape for the VP is observed along the [100], [010], and [001] directions.
