Two way ranging data for spacecraft tracking of China’s first Martian mission Tianwen-I is analysed. Shortly before the spacecraft entered the Mars parking orbit, the two way coherent microwave link between the spacecraft and the Earth resembles a long arm gravitational wave interferometer, with both the spacecraft and the Earth regarded as in an approximate free falling state. By carefully selecting and analysing data segments of the time series of the two way ranging data during this time span, a parametric statistical model is built for the data segments and an upper limit for the stochastic gravitational waves background (SGWB) is then estimated within the frequency window 0.1Hz to 0.1 mHz. The upper bound improves considerably on those obtained before. In particular, around the deci-Hz band, there is a three orders improvement on the bound obtained previously by the two way ranging data of the Chang e 3 mission. Scientific applications of the upper bound is then considered and a weak upper bound is worked out for axions which is a promising candidate for ultra light dark matter. The third generation of power semiconductor devices, such as GaN HEMTs, have been increasingly used in the design of power converters, due to their advantages of low loss, high efficiency, fast switching speed and high operating frequency. However, high dv/dt and di/dt slew rates of GaN devices will generate more electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise in power converters, and GaN devices themselves are more sensitive to EMI noise due to the lower threshold voltage, which leads to more instability and fault factors. In this paper, conducted EMI is analyzed for GaN HEMT-based LLC resonant converter, and the effect of high-frequency transformer is also investigated, which provides the common mode (CM) EMI propagation path. Then, CM EMI equivalent circuit model of LLC resonant converter is proposed to predict the conducted CM EMI noise. Finally, experiments are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the conducted CM EMI modeling method of GaN-based LLC resonant converter.

Adversarial refinement network for human motion prediction

Human motion prediction aims to predict future 3D skeletal sequences by giving a limited human motion as inputs. Two popular methods, recurrent neural networks and feed-forward deep networks, are able to predict rough motion trend, but motion details such as limb movement may be lost. To predict more accurate future human motion, we propose an Adversarial Refinement Network (ARNet) following a simple yet effective coarse-to-fine mechanism with novel adversarial error augmentation. Specifically, we take both the historical motion sequences and coarse prediction as input of our cascaded refinement network to predict refined human motion and strengthen the refinement network with adversarial error augmentation. During training, we deliberately introduce the error distribution by learning through the adversarial mechanism among different subjects. In testing, our cascaded refinement network alleviates the prediction error from the coarse predictor resulting in a finer prediction robustly. This adversarial error augmentation provides rich error cases as input to our refinement network, leading to better generalization performance on the testing dataset. We conduct extensive experiments on three standard benchmark datasets and show that our proposed ARNet outperforms other state-of-the-art methods, especially on challenging aperiodic actions in both short-term and long-term predictions. © 2020, CC-BY.

This paper addresses state estimation for discretetime semi-Markovian jump piecewise-affine (PWA) systems. To handle uncertainties caused by unknown disturbances, we propose an analysis method that considers all transfer paths between different regions within the same mode. We then examine the mean-square exponential stability and ${\mathcal{L}}_{\infty}$ performance of the error dynamic system by constructing Lyapunov functions that depend on mode, region, and sojourn time. The related criteria are derived using ellipsoidal outer approximation. Based on these criteria, we design ${\mathcal{L}}_{\infty}$ observers. Finally, we demonstrate the applicability of our method through a numerical example.

Find Beauty in the Rare: Contrastive Composition Feature Clustering for Nontrivial Cropping Box Regression

Automatic image cropping algorithms aim to recompose images like human-being photographers by generating the cropping boxes with improved composition quality. Cropping box regression approaches learn the beauty of composition from annotated cropping boxes. However, the bias of annotations leads to quasi-trivial recomposing results, which has an obvious tendency to the average location of training samples. The crux of this predicament is that the task is naively treated as a box regression problem, where rare samples might be dominated by normal samples, and the composition patterns of rare samples are not well exploited. Observing that similar composition patterns tend to be shared by the cropping boundaries annotated nearly, we argue to find the beauty of composition from the rare samples by clustering the samples with similar cropping boundary annotations, i.e., similar composition patterns. We propose a novel Contrastive Composition Clustering (C2C) to regularize the composition features by contrasting dynamically established similar and dissimilar pairs. In this way, common composition patterns of multiple images can be better summarized, which especially benefits the rare samples and endows our model with better generalizability to render nontrivial results. Extensive experimental results show the superiority of our model compared with prior arts. We also illustrate the philosophy of our design with an interesting analytical visualization. LLC resonant converters have been widely used in industry because of its soft switching characteristics in the full load range. However, due to the increasing switching frequency with the help of wideband-gap devices, electromagnetic interference (EMI) of LLC resonant converters has become a key problem in such systems. High dv/dt or di/dt of wideband-gap (WBG) semiconductor switches produce a large number of high-frequency harmonic components, thus common-mode (CM) and differential-mode (DM) noise signals are generated in LLC resonant converters. In order to investigate EMI issues, an improved CM and DM models are established respectively to represent the high-frequency behavior, and the equivalent circuit parameters of CM and DM impedances are extracted according to the experimental results. The calculated CM and DM impedances are in good agreement with the measured ones from the vector network analyzer (VNA), which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed high-frequency CM and DM models.

Single crystal silicon (Si) is an important optical material used widely in the infrared systems. The surface quality and subsurface damage of Si seriously affect the service performance. In this study, an in-situ laser-vibration hybrid assisted diamond cutting technology is proposed. The properties of cutting device were tested as experimental parameters. A series of grooving experiments were carried out with different cutting methods and the microlenses on silicon were successfully fabricated based on better manufacturing parameters. The surface morphology and subsurface damage was investigated from sin-wave structure manufacturing. Experimental results show that in-situ laser-vibration hybrid assisted diamond cutting effectively improves surface quality and inhibits subsurface lattice distortion. Compared with conventional diamond cutting, the depth of brittle transition increases by about 10 times with 1075 nm. Under the same cutting parameters, the formation of surface cracks of microlenses and sin-wave structure are significantly inhibited by applying in-situ laser-vibration hybrid assisted diamond cutting. In order to make full use of the concept of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and the collaborative design capability of the open model-based engineering environment (OpenMBEE) in establishing complex product development platform, we propose an effective method to solve the problem of unified identity authentication in OpenMBEE integration. The proposed method is based on the Model View controller(MVC) architecture in OpenMBEE, which has the characteristics strong plasticity and can be benefit for expanding the function in the controller layer. In our research, we make full use of the Software Development Kit (SDK) of OpenMBEE to expand the existing functions in the controller layer, and increase the function of communicating with the application development platform, then realize the function of sharing user authentication information between the development platform and OpenMBEE. After expansion, the system includes three modules, including the Front-end Service Module(FSM), MQ based Information Receiving Service Module(IFRSM), and the OpenMBEE Backend Server Module(BSM). The effectiveness of the proposed strategies is verified by some practical instances, which verifies that our study can provide an effective design idea for the identity authentication in OpenMBEE integration.
