Exploration of the application of optimisation algorithm using stochastic gradient descent method in satellite resource allocation

With the popularization and development of communication technology, the resource allocation problem of satellites has become a hot research topic. This study proposes a model for satellite resource allocation through the development of a beam mobilization system model and problem modeling. Then, on the basis of the linear stochastic gradient descent method, the classification accuracy of the algorithm is improved by adjusting the algorithm-solving method. Then its weight assignment method is improved to get the improved weighted linear stochastic gradient descent method. Using the optimized weighted linear stochastic gradient descent method to solve the satellite resource allocation problem from the perspective of the original problem, a model based on IWLSGD is designed and tested for performance. Through simulation experiments, the beam allocation service value of the satellite resource allocation model in this paper is 193, which is 4.32% and 3.21% higher than that of LSGD and WLSGD, respectively, and iterative convergence is faster, and its operation time and service value performs the best under different numbers of communication time slots. The system revenue, system access success rate, and system satisfaction under the interference environment between LEO and GEO are maintained at 15208, 0.8~1.0, and 85%, and keep around 7500, 1, and 75% under 5G base station interference. The satellite resource allocation model in this paper can effectively improve the utilization efficiency of communication resources and better adapt to dynamically changing interference scenarios. © 2024 Demin Zhao et al., published by Sciendo.

For the earth observation satellite mission planning problem, objectives such as observed target quantity, observation profit, energy consumption, image quality should be considered simultaneously, which is a many-objective optimization problem. Classical optimization-based mission planning algorithms obtain a set of non-dominated solutions in the entire search space, while only a single satisfy final plan is desired by decision maker. In this paper, a five-objective optimization model for satellite mission planning problem is constructed, then a region preference-based evolutionary algorithm, HMOEA-T, is applied to obtain the desired solutions. The decision makers describe the preference on each objective in target region form, then the algorithm guides a more detailed search within the preference region rather than the entire Pareto front. Comparative studies with preference-based methods(T-NSGA-III) and classical methods(NSGA-III) are conducted. We have exemplified the proposed method manage to obtain the solutions satisfying the mission planning preference and achieve better performance in convergence and diversity.

Comprehensive understanding of microplastics in compost: Ecological risks and degradation mechanisms

The introduction of microplastics (MPs) into soil ecosystems via compost application has emerged as a critical environmental concern. However, the ecological risks and degradation behavior of MPs in compost remain insufficiently understood. This review addresses these gaps by synthesizing recent findings on MPs in composting systems, focusing on their sources, impacts on compost quality, ecological risks, and degradation mechanisms. MP sources vary significantly across compost matrices-domestic waste, sludge, and agricultural waste‑leading to differences in their types and quantities. MPs adversely impact compost quality by disrupting its physical structure and impairing fertility, aeration, and water retention. Furthermore, their persistence after compost application can result in long-term environmental accumulation, posing risks to soil ecosystems and biological health. This review also explores the aging and degradation of MPs during composting, a complex process influenced by physical, chemical, and biological mechanisms. Finally, we propose future research directions, emphasizing the development of standardized methodologies to assess MP behavior in compost and strategies to mitigate associated risks. These insights contribute to advancing sustainable waste management and environmental protection practices. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.

code_saturne is an open-source general large-scale computational fluid dynamics software independently developed by Electricite de France since 1997. Due to its high computing performance, code_saturne has been widely used in the nuclear industry, heavy fuel and biomass combustion, particle tracking and other computational fluid dynamics fields. In this work, we implemented code_saturne on the new generation Sunway supercomputer (SW26010pro) at the first time. By applying the data value-taking technology of double cache, combined with Sunway shared memory technology, we have adapted the data structure and Modular programming of code_saturne conducively to the new generation Sunway supercomputer (SW26010pro) and accelerated the software hotspots the software hotspots by 1-2 times. After optimizing and porting, this software has successfully served in the numerical simulation of the lateral flow of fuel assemblies in the nuclear industry. © 2023 IEEE.

Training big graph neural networks (GNNs) in distributed systems is quite time-consuming mainly because of the ubiquitous aggregate operations that involve a large amount of cross-partition communication for collecting embeddings/gradients during the forward and backward propagation. To reduce the volume of the communication, some recent approaches focused on decaying each of connections via sampling, quantifying, or delaying until satisfactory trade-off are obtained between volume and accuracy. However, when applied to popular GNNs, those approaches are found to be bounded by a common volume/accuracy Pareto frontier which shows that the decaying for individual connection cannot further accelerate the aggregate of training. In this work, SC-GNN, a semantic compression of the cross-partition communication, is proposed to concentrate a group of connections as a high-level semantics and transmit to a target partition. Since carrying the overall intent of a group, the semantics can keep transferring the interactions, i.e., embeddings/gradients, between a pair of remote partitions until GNN models converge. In addition, a connection-pattern based differential optimization is proposed to further prune those weak connections, while guaranteeing the training accuracy. The results show that, for multi-field datasets, the compression rate of SC-GNN is 40.8 × higher than SOTA methods and the epoch time is reduced to 31.8% on average. © 2024 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s). Helicon wave plasma sources have the well-known advantages of high efficiency and high plasma density, with broad applications in many areas. The crucial mechanism lies with mode transitions, which has been an outstanding issue for years. We have built a fluid simulation model and further developed the Peking University Helicon Discharge code. The mode transitions, also known as density jumps, of a single-loop antenna discharge are reproduced in simulations for the first time. It is found that large-amplitude standing helicon waves(SHWs) are responsible for the mode transitions, similar to those of a resonant cavity for laser *** paper intends to give a complete and quantitative SHW resonance theory to explain the relationship of the mode transitions and the SHWs. The SHW resonance theory reasonably explains several key questions in helicon plasmas, such as mode transition and efficient power absorption, and helps to improve future plasma generation methods.
