Molecular characterization of oxidized organic nitrogen in the polluted urban atmosphere of Beijing

Oxidized organic nitrogen (OON) serves as a crucial link between volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen oxides, ozone, and secondary organic aerosol (SOA). However, the comprehension of the molecular composition, formation mechanism, and implications of OON remains limited, particularly in urban environments influenced heavily by anthropogenic emissions. This study presents the field measurements of OON conducted at an urban site in Beijing using chemical ionization mass spectrometry with nitrate as the reagent ion. The molecular characteristics, dominant species, and oxidation states of OON were investigated. Positive matrix factorization analysis disentangled the diverse OON into factors characterized by unique fingerprint features and formation pathways. A modified workflow was used to classify the majority of OON as terpene (3.0 %), isoprene (15.2 %), aliphatic (38.1 %, containing dinitrate), and aromatic (36.0 %, containing aromatic ring retaining) OON. This highlights the significant impact of anthropogenic sources and underscores the need for stringent controls on anthropogenic VOC emissions to mitigate OON formation. Volatility estimates further indicate that aromatic and aliphatic OON, with relatively low volatility, are expected to be the primary contributors to SOA formation by condensation or gas-particle partitioning in urban Beijing. In addition, hazy weather conditions may facilitate multi-generation reactions, leading to the production of large amounts of semi-volatile dinitrate OON and promoting its conversion to SOA. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.

code_saturne is an open-source general large-scale computational fluid dynamics software independently developed by Electricite de France since 1997. Due to its high computing performance, code_saturne has been widely used in the nuclear industry, heavy fuel and biomass combustion, particle tracking and other computational fluid dynamics fields. In this work, we implemented code_saturne on the new generation Sunway supercomputer (SW26010pro) at the first time. By applying the data value-taking technology of double cache, combined with Sunway shared memory technology, we have adapted the data structure and Modular programming of code_saturne conducively to the new generation Sunway supercomputer (SW26010pro) and accelerated the software hotspots the software hotspots by 1–2 times. After optimizing and porting, this software has successfully served in the numerical simulation of the lateral flow of fuel assemblies in the nuclear industry.

Demand for efficient and continuous application for high-grid energy storage systems involves the study towards novel battery technologies. Hence, considering the vast naturally available resources of potassium all over the world and its encouraging intercalation chemistries, it has recently enticed attention in electrochemical energy storage industry in the form of potassium ion batteries (PIBs). The major factor in this K+ based battery, is to develop efficient approaches to manufacture electrode substance to intercalate its big size potassium ions with considerable voltage, kinetics, charge/discharge capacity, capacity retention, cost, etc. This study contributes in the recent developments of anode and cathode materials for PIBs, including several electrode materials in regards to synthesis, structure, electrochemical performance, and K-storage mechanisms. Finally, the review contributes to provide helpful sources for the increasing number of scientists working in this industry regarding its critical issues and challenges and also to indicate the future direction of electrode materials in PIBs.

LMHLD: A Large-scale Multi-source High-resolution Landslide Dataset for Landslide Detection based on Deep Learning

Landslides are among the most common natural disasters globally, posing significant threats to human society. Deep learning (DL) has proven to be an effective method for rapidly generating landslide inventories in large-scale disaster areas. However, DL models rely heavily on high-quality labeled landslide data for strong feature extraction capabilities. And landslide detection using DL urgently needs a benchmark dataset to evaluate the generalization ability of the latest models. To solve the above problems, we construct a Large-scale Multi-source High-resolution Landslide Dataset (LMHLD) for Landslide Detection based on DL. LMHLD collects remote sensing images from five different satellite sensors across seven study areas worldwide: Wenchuan, China (2008);Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2011);Gorkha, Nepal (2015);Jiuzhaigou, China (2015);Taiwan, China (2018);Hokkaido, Japan (2018);Emilia-Romagna, Italy (2023). The dataset includes a total of 25,365 patches, with different patch sizes to accommodate different landslide scales. Additionally, a training module, LMHLDpart, is designed to accommodate landslide detection tasks at varying scales and to alleviate the issue of catastrophic forgetting in multi-task learning. Furthermore, the models trained by LMHLD is applied in other datasets to highlight the robustness of LMHLD. Five dataset quality evaluation experiments designed by using seven DL models from the U-Net family demonstrate that LMHLD has the potential to become a benchmark dataset for landslide detection. Before software developers actually start coding, an essential requirement is to be proficient in a programming language. However, as an important learning resource, programming language textbooks usually contain much about syntax and semantics of a programming language, but little about pragmatics, which is highly relevant with practical skills in solving real-world problems using programming languages. This makes it difficult for learners to transfer knowledge from textbooks to *** solve this problem, this paper proposes a programming language learning service, utilizing abundant development knowledge in Stack Overflow (SO) Q&A posts as the pragmatics knowledge of programming languages to make up for the shortage of pragmatics knowledge in textbooks. To link SO Q&A posts with textbooks, this paper first proposes a deep learning classification model to recognize SO posts containing development knowledge. Second, to align filtered SO posts with programming language learning processes, this paper proposes a weakly supervised link approach to matching SO posts with chapters and sections of textbooks. The feature of weak supervision ensures that the approach can be easily extended to other textbooks. Based on these modules above, this paper implements the programming language learning service in the form of a Chrome plugin. We conduct experiments and user study. Their results demonstrate the effectiveness, scalability and stability of the service.

Recently, stochastic computing (SC) is increasingly popular in constructing MAC for on-edge DNNs benefiting from its outstanding energy-efficiency, including its adequate precision and gatelevel operation. However, current SC-DNN systems always include a lot of costly SNGs/APCs for inevitably switches between binary and stochastic domains, which mortgages incongruous resources to pay the "bill" of the domain-switches and impedes highly-concurrent deployments. In this work, PseudoSC, a binary approximation to low-discrepancy SC, is proposed to totally remove the domain-switch for SNG/APC-free SC-DNNs. Its basic idea is to virtually re-arrange a couple of stochastic operands into a 2-D latent op-space, in which, original Monte Carlo sampling can be partitioned into three sub-ops, i.e., two fixed binary-ops and a fractal recursion. In theory, the recursion forms an isomorphic partition of the sampling repeated in smaller scales until the binary base-case achieved, as a result, a SC-op is well approximated only with binary-ops. Based on above theory, a multi-lane micro-architecture is designed to unroll the recursion within a few cycles and its advantages on hardware saving is verified under popular DNNs. The evaluation shows that the DNN-models with our schemes achieve 98.7% accuracy of the fixed-point implementations, which significantly outperform other SOTA methods. In addition, its reduced structure improves the power efficiency by 3.67 times on average.

The limited anthropogenic activities on the Tibetan Plateau make this an ideal natural laboratory to elucidate how climate change impacts lake changes. This paper investigates the enclosing control of hybrid multi-agent systems under directed networks. Firstly, we establish some criteria for continuoustime and discrete-time multi-agent systems to achieve enclosing control. Secondly, according to the communication modes among agents, four distributed enclosing control protocols are proposed for hybrid multi-agent systems. Then, under the proposed protocols, we give the corresponding sufficient conditions to guarantee enclosing control. The constructive semi-global differential game concept is introduced into the multi-agent's cooperative controller designing of typical autonomous unmanned systems subject to controller input constraint as well as the collision avoidance requirements simultaneously. The problem of driving each agent which is assume to subject to input constraint nonlinearity from the initial position to a desired one and at the same time avoiding collisions (referring to both static obstacles and other agents) is modeled and transformed into multi-agent's collision avoidance problem. In view of the requirement that different agents working together might possibly have individual but conflicting purpose (such as in the multi-missile cooperative detection requiring slowly and continuing actions vs fast formation control scenario, and multi-agents' fast arriving vs avoiding different kinds of obstacles). The differential game theory provided a mechanism or framework for investigating different kinds of problems in which several players seek to achieve individual purposes or goals, which might be competing rather than cooperation. In view of the input constraints, the problem is reduced as a semi-global differential game. Conditions are established to guarantee input constraints are satisfied, and mainly by using the Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs (HJI for short) PDIs and as well as Ε-Nash equilibria. The semi-global property of the states are also guaranteed. It provides a description in terms of the invariant set for the overall differential game system under constraint controller input. Illustrative examples are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the method, and also the feasibility of the suggested control protocols. © 2021 IEEE
