The transformation of mercury(Hg) in the environment plays a vital role in the cycling of Hg and its risk to the ecosystem and human health. Of particular importance are Hg oxidation/reduction and methylation/demethylation processes driven or mediated by the dynamics of light, microorganisms, and organic carbon, among others. Advances in understanding those Hg transformation processes determine our capacity of projecting and mitigating Hg risk. Here, we provide a critical analysis of major knowledge gaps in our understanding of Hg transformation in nature, with perspectives on approaches moving forward. Our analysis focuses on Hg transformation processes in the environment, as well as emerging methodology in exploring these processes. Future avenues for improving the understanding of Hg transformation processes to protect ecosystem and human health are also explored.

Cloud manufacturing (CMfg), integrating distributed manufacturing resources as services to cloud center, aims at intelligent, green, and economic customized manufacturing. The optimal composition of services to fulfill particular manufacturing requirement is a core issue to realize efficient cloud manufacturing. Many researchers have studied the problem considering the Quality-of-Service (QoS) of independent services. However, the correlation between services is rarely considered. In this paper, the importance of service correlation is emphasized. Two kinds of service correlation, service exclusion and service collaboration, are modeled for service composition. An improved algorithm DET, which combines Differential Evolution Algorithm (DE) with a Tabu table based on service exclusive and collaborative relationships, is designed to filter composable services and find better solutions for complex tasks. Experiments have shown the effects of service correlation on the quality of composed services and demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method DET compared with traditional DE. © 2019 Dime Universita di Genova, DIMEG University of Calabria.

“Earth summit mission 2022”is one of the landmark scientific research activities of the Second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and Research(STEP).This scientific expedition firstly used advanced technology and methods to detect vertical meteorological elements and produce forecasts for mountain ***“Earth summit mission 2022”Qomolangma scientific expedition exceeded an altitude of over 8000 meters for the first time and carried out a comprehensive scientific investigation mission on the summit of *** the participants,the westerly–monsoon synergy and influence team stationed in the *** region had two tasks:1)detecting the vertical structure of the atmosphere for parameters such as wind,temperature,humidity,and pressure with advanced instruments for high-altitude detection at the *** base camp;and 2)observing extreme weather processes to ensure that members of the mountaineering team could successfully reach the *** this scientific expedition,a better understanding of the vertical structure and weather characteristics of the complex area of *** is gained.

The fusion of camera and LiDAR features in the Bird's Eye View (BEV) perspective has become a prevalent solution for 3D detection in autonomous driving due to its simplicity and efficiency. However, in challenging environments like mining areas with dusty roads, existing BEV -based fusion networks struggle due to dust occlusion and misidentification of dust as obstacles. To address this, we propose a robust fusion framework that integrates fine-grained depth supervision and channel-wise attention mechanisms. Combined with a temporal multi-frame mechanism, our framework effectively mitigates issues caused by dust occlusion and misidentification. We validated our method's detection accuracy on a self-constructed mining road dataset, achieving 89.6% mAP, surpassing BEVFusion's 88.3% mAP. Tests on sensor occlusion and failure further demonstrated its robustness in adverse conditions typical of unstructured road scenarios.

Carbon data fraud caused by rent-seeking behavior (RSB) undermines the effectiveness of the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). The Continuous Emissions Monitoring system (CEMS) used for carbon monitoring is a powerful solution to this misconduct. This study aims to optimize regulatory measures for promoting CEMS and curbing RSB (PCaCR) to improve the robustness of ETS. A tripartite evolutionary game model was constructed based on strategic interactions among thermal power enterprises (TPEs), third-party verifiers (3PVs), and government. The Lyapunov indirect method was used to analyze evolutionary stabilization strategies (ESS). Numerical simulations were performed to assess the sensitivity of key factors. The empirical results indicate that, first, four scenarios of ESS for the stakeholders. The ideal ESS for the PCaCR is when TPEs apply CEMS for carbon monitoring, 3PVs impartially verify, and the government strictly supervises. Second, the initial strategy choices of stakeholders affect the time it takes for the game system to reach the ESS. The closer the initial strategy selection is to the ESS, the faster the evolution occurs. Third, factors with different sensitivities affects the evolutionary outcome and speed. Standard refinement, information disclosure, and reward & punishment mechanisms can regulate stakeholder decision-making. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Large-scale equipment presents the characteristics of technology-intensive, knowledge-intensive and complex, which brings high investment and high risk to equipment acquisition. This paper analyzes the various components of equipment acquisition to fully apply modeling and simulation technology to each stage of it. On the basis of multi-objective optimization theory, the objective function of the lowest risk and lowest cost of simulation-based acquisition (SBA) is proposed. Then establishing a multi-objective optimization model for simulation-based acquisition according to the corresponding constraints. The nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA II) and multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) algorithms are used to optimize the model, and the majority voting method is used for integration. The comparison of simulation examples proves that the multi-objective optimization model oriented to SBA designed in this paper can effectively realize the optimization of each objective of SBA under cost constraints. And the feasibility and efficiency of optimization solution are guaranteed.

Perfluoroalkyl compounds in groundwater alter the spatial pattern of health risk in an arsenic‑cadmium contaminated region

Integrated health risk assessment strategies for emerging organic pollutants and heavy metals that coexist in water/soil media are lacking. Contents of perfluoroalkyl compounds and potentially toxic elements in multiple media were determined by investigating a county where a landfill and a tungsten mine coexist. The spatial characteristics and sources of contaminants were predicted by Geostatistics-based and multivariate statistical analysis, and their comprehensive health risks were assessed. The average contents of perfluorooctane acid, perfluorooctanesulfonic acid, arsenic, and cadmium in groundwater were 3.21, 0.77, 1.69, and 0.14 μg L−1, respectively;the maximum content of cadmium in soils and rice highly reached 2.12 and 1.52 mg kg−1, respectively. In soils, the contribution of mine lag to cadmium was 99 %, and fertilizer and pesticide to arsenic was 59.4 %. While in groundwater, arsenic, cadmium and perfluoroalkyl compounds near the landfill mainly came from leachate leakage. Significant correlations were found between arsenic in groundwater and arsenic and cadmium in soils, as well as perfluoroalkyl compounds in groundwater and pH and sulfate. Based on these correlations, the geographically optimal similarity model predicted high-level arsenic in groundwater near the tungsten mine and cadmium/perfluoroalkyl compounds around the landfill. The combination of analytic network process, entropy weighting method and game theory-based trade-off method with risk assessment model can assess the comprehensive risks of multiple pollutants. Using this approach, a high health-risk zone located around the landfill, which was mainly attributed to the presence of arsenic, cadmium and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid, was found. Overall, perfluoroalkyl compounds in groundwater altered the spatial pattern of health risks in an arsenic‑cadmium contaminated area. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.

In modern warfare, due to the increasingly complex electromagnetic environment, cognitive confrontation will become the main form of war. Effective interference with enemy radars is of great importance for taking the lead in the battlefield. The evaluation of the synergistic interference effect is an important indicator to measure the performance of the interference equipment. According to the evaluation result, the interference strategy can be changed in time to achieve the best interference revenue and provide a strong guarantee for the successful penetration of the target. In this paper, the discovery probability and positioning accuracy of radar network are used as evaluation indicators to establish an evaluation model. The interference power, interference frequency, interference timing and interference pattern are used as membership functions. The distance, false alarm probability and different interference strategies are studied. The simulation shows that proper false alarm probability, closer distance and proper interference strategy can improve the interference benefit and provide a theoretical basis for obtaining the best interference effect in the actual battlefield. © ICST Institute for Computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering 2019 Published by Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019. A new RF coil based on microstrip Yagi-antenna for 7T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is presented in this paper. The RF coil element consists of a driver which is a pair of dipoles printed on the dielectric substrate and two reflectors distributed on either sides of the driver. simulation results show that the proposed 8-channel RF coil array with these elements has high magnetic field intensity and uniform magnetic field distribution in the transverse plane, and can also maintain relatively low specific absorption rate (SAR) in the human body electromagnetic model. In addition, by comparing the RF field distribution of healthy organs and diseased organs, the feasibility of 8-channel RF coil array for human body imaging in MRI system is confirmed.
