In many spatial cooperative vehicle networks, omni-directional communication is preferred due to its flexibility for networking. In the recent studies, space time code was shown to be an effective approach for improving the performance of the omni-directional communication between space vehicles. This paper studies the unified scheme for the orthogonal space time block code-based transmission between two space vehicles equipped with different numbers of antennas. It is obtained that at most six passive antennas and four RF chains are enough for the typical use. In the proposed scheme, the receiver can perform a unified detection procedure regardless of the actual number of the transmit antennas, which facilitates the practical application. Simulation results validate the proposed scheme in terms of the cumulative distribution function of the received signal-to-noise ratios. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and technology. To realise wide-band stealth of radar absorbing material, a special-shaped honeycomb radar absorbing structure within nested cone-shaped scattering configuration is designed. Based on the HS theory and the impedance matching design, the rule about the influence of the geometry parameter and electromagnetic parameter on the absorbing performance is analysed. In addition, the reflectivity performance is analysed on the condition of oblique incidence angles. By optimising the geometry parameters of the special-shaped honeycomb structure and designing the multilayer composite structure based on impedance matching theory, the results indicate that the two absorbing peaks can be formed for the special-shaped honeycomb radar absorbing structure, and the reflectivity is improved for both the vertical and oblique incidence angles. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and technology. Signal representation is to transform the intercepted original signal into feature parameters, which is the basis for the electronic reconnaissance system to analyse and identify a radar. The traditional method is to manually design a limited number of features with prior knowledge, which can only achieve the desired results in specific applications. Therefore, it is necessary to study signal representation methods that are more adaptable, reasonable, and effective. This study proposes a feature-level design scheme that extracts multi-level signal feature parameters to obtain deep essential feature representations, which is consistent with deep-learning frameworks. Through the decomposition through wavelet packet transform (WPT), the best sub-band tree structure of the signal can be obtained, and the depth representation of the signal can be well achieved, which can meet requirements of time-frequency analysis automatically. Here, Symlets wavelet packet decomposition (WPD) is used as an example to implement multi-layer signal feature representation. The combination of characteristic parameters at different levels can reflect the different information contained in different radar signals. The simulation results show that the method can effectively identify the modulation mode of radar signals and enhance the information mining ability from radar signals. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and technology. The Oguchi method is an important tool for characterizing the transmission characteristics of polarized electromagnetic waves in precipitation. In this paper, the forward scattering matrix of chaff is calculated for the special random medium of chaff cloud. Then the transmission characteristics of polarized electromagnetic wave, including attenuation, (specific) differential phase, are studied by using Oguchi method. The obtained characteristics are consistent with the physical laws, and the feasibility of the Oguchi method in chaff characteristic analysis is preliminarily verified. © 2019 IEEE.

In this paper, a method of shielding the object behind a discrete metal wire array is proposed and verified by anechoic chamber experiments. Results show that if the metal wire array is dense enough (cell size is smaller than half of the wavelength), the object behind it can be effectually shielded by the discrete metal wire array. The principle can be applied to electromagnetic camouflage and protection. © 2018 IEEE.

X-ray is an important tool for characterizing materials, which is based on the idea that all crystals are composed of atoms or molecules stacking in a particular type, basically expressing as unit cell, diffracting the incident ray with a proper type. In analogue, the periodic structures which are mostly constructed artificially show special desired properties, such as the properties of grating, frequency selective surfaces, metamaterials and metasurface. In this paper, A study was done on the insight of the relation of wave interaction with periodic structures based on X-ray diffraction and control of electromagnetic waves. © 2022 IEEE.

We propose a stability-based adaptive-period DSDV intra-cluster routing protocol that automatically adjusts the routing update period by the link stability among the nodes in the cluster structure, thus reducing the network overhead of the network structure in maintaining the routing table. We describe the link stability and adaptive period implementation and test the proposed routing protocol in the cluster structure based on network simulation. The implementation results show that the proposed routing protocol has better performance than the traditional DSDV routing protocol, can improve the network throughput and reduce the routing overhead in the network, and has good adaptability in the cluster with fast changing network topology. © 2022 IEEE.

An efficient radar signal processing parallel algorithm for Open Computing Language (OpenCL) is presented in this paper, which reveals a rational allocation schema of tasks between the central processing unit (CPU) and the graphics processing unit (GPU). The powerful parallel processing ability of GPU is used to replace the traditional serial processing method by the way of pipeline acceleration and algorithm parallel acceleration, and the real-time performance of the proposed algorithm is improved by the design idea of intra-module parallelism and inter-module flow processing. The algorithm is applied to CPU-GPU heterogeneous computing platform and has a good portability. The effectiveness and real-time performance of the algorithm are verified through simulation data. © 2022 IEEE.

Station layout has a direct impact on localization precision for four-station TDOA(time difference of arrival) location system. In order to optimize the overall location precision of targets in certain area, genetic algorithm for station layout optimization is presented. GDOP is regarded as the measurement rule of location precision. Then the multi-object programming mathematical model of station layout optimization is built. The optimal solution is searched by genetic algorithm. Consequently, the optimal layout of station is obtained. The simulation provides the GDOP distribution of two station layouts. One is the initial station layout, and the other is the optimal station layout. The simulation results show that for the optimal station layout, the effect of improving the location precision is obvious, and also indicate the validity of genetic algorithm.
