Based on color-locking noisy field correlation, a time-delayed method is proposed to suppress the thermal effect, and the ultrafast longitudinal relaxation time can be measured even in an absorbing medium. One interesting feature in field-correlation effects is that Rayleigh-enhanced four-wave mixing (RFWM) with color-locking noisy light exhibits spectral symmetry and temporal asymmetry with no coherence spike at τ=0. Due to the interference between the Rayleigh-resonant signal and the nonresonant background, RFWM exhibits hybrid radiation-matter detuning with terahertz damping oscillations. The subtle Markovian high-order correlation effects have been investigated in the homodyne- or heterodyne-detected Rayleigh-enhanced attosecond sum-frequency polarization beats (RASPBs). Analytic closed forms of fourth-order Markovian stochastic correlations are characterized for homodyne (quadratic) and heterodyne (linear) detection, respectively. Based on the polarization interference between two four-wave mixing processes, the phase-sensitive detection of RASPBs has also been used to obtain the real and imaginary parts of the Rayleigh resonance.

Based on the phase-conjugate polarization interference between two-pathway excitations, we obtained an analytic closed form for the second-order or fourth-order Markovian stochastic correlation of the V three-level sum-frequency polarization beat (SFPB) in attosecond scale. Novel interferometric oscillatory behavior is exposed in terms of radiation-radiation, radiation-matter, and matter-matter polarization beats. The phase-coherent control of the light beams in the SFPB is subtle. When the laser has broadband linewidth, the homodyne detected SFPB signal shows resonant-nonresonant cross correlation, a drastic difference for three Markovian stochastic fields, and the autocorrelation of the SFPB exhibits hybrid radiation-matter detuning terahertz damping oscillation. As an attosecond ultrafast modulation process, it can be extended intrinsically to any sum frequency of energy levels. It has been also found that the asymmetric behaviors of the polarization beat signals due to the unbalanced controllable dispersion effects between the two arms of interferometer do not affect the overall accuracy in case using the SFPB to measure the Doppler-free energy-level sum of two excited states.

A Lattice Boltzmann Model (LBM) with the Poisson-Boltzmann equation for charge distribution is presented for the simulation of electroosmotic transport in straight rectangular micro- and nanochannels. Effects of the channel height, electrolyte concentration, surface potential, electric double layer thickness and externally applied electric field on the velocity profile of 50 to 800 nm channels were studied by means of a LBM. Our results are in excellent agreement with the corresponding analytical solution and the Lattice Boltzmann Model can be used to simulate electrokinetic transport phenomena in microchannels in the presence of an externally applied electric field.

The characteristics of electrokinetic flow in a microchannel depend on both the nature of the surface potential, i.e. whether it is uniform or nonuniform, and the electric potential distribution along the channel. In this paper, the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation is used to model the electrical double layer and the Lattice Boltzmann Model coupled with the constraint of current continuity is used to simulate the flow field in a rectangular microchannel with step change surface potential. The results show that step change ion distribution caused by step change surface potential will influence significantly the electric potential distribution along the channel, the velocity profiles and the volumetric flow rate. This may indicate that if disturbance on the ion distribution due to nonuniform surface potential and velocity distortion is large and not negligible, the electric potential distribution along the channel in both pressure-driven and electroosmotic flow may not be linear.

A theory on incoherently coupled soliton pairs for photorefractive screening solitons is developed that gives rise to incoherently coupled steady-state soliton pairs and multicomponent spatial solitons in biased photorefractive-photovoltaic materials, which result from both the bulk photovoltaic effect and the spatially nonuniform screening of the external bias field. When the bulk photovoltaic effect is neglectable, these soliton pairs are the previously studied soliton pairs for screening solitons, these multicomponent spatial solitons predict incoherently coupled multicomponent spatial solitons for screening solitons, and their space-charge field is the space-charge field of screening solitons. When the external field is absent, these soliton pairs and multicomponent spatial solitons predict incoherently coupled soliton pairs and multicomponent spatial solitons for photovoltaic solitons, and their space-charge field is the space-charge field of photovoltaic solitons. The stability of these soliton pairs and multicomponent spatial solitons is also discussed using the modulation instability theory.

In this paper, the properties of both generalized nonlinear equal-order Af-th power Y-squeezing and generalized nonlinear equal-order 2V-th power H-squeezing in a new type of multimode complex conjugation imaginary-even coherent state light field |ψi.e* (2)ψq, are sudied in detail,by utilizing the theory of multimode squeezed state constructed by Yang Zhiyong and Hou Xun and published in Acta Photonica Sinica recently. It is found that 1). If the squeezed order number N is an odd number, the state Iψi.e* (2))ψq, mentioned above can always present any order generalized nonlinear equal-order N- th power Y-squeezing that changes periodically under some certain conditions;and if q • N, the products of cavity - mode number q and the squeezed order number N, is an odd number, the state I ψi.e* (2),ψq mentioned can also display any order generalized nonlinear equal-order N-th power H- squeezing that changes periodically too. 2)The squeezing conditions and the squeezing features of both equal-order N-th power Y-squeezing and equal-order AMh power H-squeezing of the multimode complex conjugation imaginary-even coherent state Iψi.e* (2)ψq, are just contrary to that of the multimode even - coherent state |ψe*ψq and to that of the multimode complex - conjugation even - coherent state |'*r*e(2)>, but just the same as that of the multimode imaginary-even coherent state Iψi.e* (2)ψq So the two kinds of new physical phenomena,the so-called "contrary squeezing" and "degenerat squeezing",are further improved by the results mentioned above in this paper.
