The use of technology and information devices contributes to global warming. This issue has also become a concern for UN institutions, as stated in international environmental agreements, which aim to stabilize greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere at a level that prevents anthropogenic and dangerous disturbances to the environmental system. This research uses a line of code derived from the tanjak dataset, a student project from 2003 to 2020, numbering 500. This research aims to apply energy consumption efficiency to reduce CO2 emissions produced using computer devices, especially in developing software. The approach used in this research is clean code, which can provide benefits in the form of a line of code that is easy to read, understand, test, and maintain so that it can create savings in energy use. In the test, the line of code used was 1,072,089, producing an energy of 82,152.18 Joules, minus the line of code comments, which was 76,750, producing an energy of 2,971.25 Joules. Initial research results show that the clean code approach can be used to save energy usage, with the result of the line of code used being 995,339 and producing 79,180 Joules of energy, so it can affect reducing CO2 emissions when implementing software development. © 2024 IEEE.

Survival Analysis of Kasturi Tobacco Plants in Jember District using the Stratified Cox and Extended Cox Models

In 2022, tobacco was the top export commodity, generating $106.3 million in sales. East Java Province contributes significantly to Indonesia's tobacco production, with an annual output of 188.6 thousand tons. Jember Regency is the area in East Java Province which is a Kasturi tobacco cultivation area. The productivity of Kasturi tobacco continues to decrease due to several factors that can affect the survival of the tobacco. This study aims to analyze the survival of Kasturi tobacco by creating stratified Cox and extended Cox models in order to handle factors that cannot fulfill the proportional hazard assumption. Based on the results of the analysis, the stratified Cox model is the best model with AIC and BIC values of 798.108 and 805.5748 respectively, while the extended Cox has AIC and BIC values of 840.2186 and 850.1732 respectively. Variables that can significantly affect the survival of Kasturi tobacco are the variable concentration of ZA fertilizer, pesticide concentration. The addition of ZA fertilizer must be appropriate, because if excessive it can cause poisoning of tobacco plants. Likewise with pesticides, if excessive it will cause damage to the leaves. This policy can increase the productivity of Kasturi tobacco. Then, Jember Regency contributes greater export capacity. • This paper aims to determine the factors that affect the survival of Kasturi tobacco plants in Jember • By using the extended Cox model, the best one is obtained using the Heaviside function with AIC and BIC values of 840.2186 and 850.1732, respectively • The stratified Cox model is better than the extended Cox model, which has AIC and BIC values of 798.108 and 805.5748, respectively

In this work, we propose the development of a hybrid video-to-text summarization (VTS) framework on cascading the advanced and code-accessible extractive and abstractive (EA) approaches for supporting viewers' video navigation and understanding. More precisely, the contributions of this paper are three-fold. First, we devise an automated and unified hybrid VTS framework that takes an arbitrary video as an input, generates the text transcripts from its human dialogues, and then summarizes the text transcripts into one short video synopsis. Second, we advance the binary merge-sort approach and expand its use to develop an intuitive and heuristic abstractive-based algorithm, with the time complexity O(TLlogTL) and the space complexity O(TL), where TL is the total number of word tokens on a text, to dynamically and successively split and merge a long piece of text transcripts, which exceeds the input text size limitation of an abstractive model, to generate one final semantic video synopsis. At the end, we test the feasibility of applying this proposed framework and algorithm in conducting the preliminarily experimental evaluations on three different videos, as a pilot study, in genres, contents, and lengths. We show that our approach outperforms and/or levels most of the individual EA methods stated above by 75% in terms of the ROUGE F1-Score measurement. © 2022 IEEE.

Like air pollution, sound pollution has grown to be a major concern for city residents, designers, and developers. Detecting and recognizing sound types and sources in cities and suburban areas or any environment have become a necessity for the quality of life as well as security. In recent years, researchers have explored many models using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) Neural Network, and different combinations of these techniques, which produced promising results when combined with spectrogram images, or its different variations, to classify urban sounds. This research uses the DNN model performance as a baseline to compare the CNN and LSTM models' performance for classifying urban sound using Mel scale cepstral analysis (MEL) spectrum images using an open-source library called Librosa for sound processing. Models' performance was evaluated using the UrbanSound8k dataset. The CNN model underperformed with an accuracy rate of 87.15% and f1 score of 85.63% compared to both the DNN base model and the LSTM model. In contrast, comparing the LSTM model with CNN, LSTM shows better accuracy performance on test data with 90.15%, and f1 score of 90.15%. © 2021 IEEE.

The Healthcare Accreditation Institute has an assessment and certification process for hospitals applying for Healthcare Accreditation. The assessment process requires a large number of text-based reports. The purpose of this research was to study the text analysis of the self-assessment reports of healthcare facilities and surveyor reports on issues related to the pharmaceutical system to evaluate and rate the accreditation of medical facilities. The natural language text vector analysis technique, together with the Universal Sentence Encoder (USE) was compared to Learning Lightweight Language-agnostic Sentence Embeddings (LEALLA) for encoding data into a high-dimensional format. Next the sentence encoding feature was fed through a machine learning procedure, including artificial neural networks, logistic regression, and support vector machines to classify nursing facility accreditation ratings. The experimental results showed that the USE embedding yielded better performance than the LEALLA embedding across all models with a precision of 0.70 but took slightly longer to encode feature sentences. This research could improve the performance of the analysis and scoring. © 2023 IEEE.

Medication errors threaten patient safety considerably, underscoring the necessity for enhanced detection and prevention techniques. A prevalent classification system in hospitals relies on the standard practice of medication administration known as the Five Rights (5R). This study seeks to develop an NLP-based tool designed to expand 5R error categorization coverage and alleviate the workload of medical professionals. The proposed method focuses on Thai medical text, incorporating Thai and English vocabulary. In this investigation, we developed a supervised learning classification framework using the Universal Sentence Encoder (USE) for sentence embedding, followed by an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) for model training. Additionally, we explored a zero-shot classification model employing pre-trained Large Language Models (PLMs). Our findings reveal that the supervised learning classification model provides the most favorable performance, albeit with the limitation of reliance on labeled datasets, which can be resource intensive. Conversely, the zero-shot classification framework's performance is less optimal. However, future advancements in Thai medical PLMs may improve efficacy and present a viable alternative for medical data analysis without dependence on labeled datasets. This initiative lays the groundwork for potential future applications and advantages within Thailand's medical domain. © 2023 IEEE.

Background: Longitudinal changes in cognitive function may be crucial in predicting clinical outcomes in clinical high-risk (CHR) individuals. In this study, we aimed to investigate the predictive value of baseline cognitive impairment and short-term cognitive changes for nonremission and conversion to psychosis in individuals at CHR for psychosis compared with healthy control individuals (HCs). Methods: This study used a multiple-group prospective design with a 3-year follow-up. CHR individuals and HCs were assessed at baseline and at a 2-month follow-up. Neuropsychological performance was evaluated using the Chinese version of the MATRICS (Measurement and Treatment Research to Improve Cognition in Schizophrenia) Consensus Cognitive Battery. Results: The study included 310 CHR individuals and 93 HCs. Significant improvements in predicting nonremission in CHR individuals were observed when incorporating cognitive changes over 2 months (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve [AUC] for baseline cognition, 0.690;AUC for changes, 0.819;z = 3.365, p < .001). Key predictors included the Hopkins Verbal Learning Test–Revised (β = 0.083, p = .003), Wechsler Memory Scale-III spatial span (β = 0.330, p < .001), and Brief Visuospatial Memory Test–Revised (β = 0.127, p < .001). Conversely, predicting conversion to psychosis showed no significant difference between baseline and 2-month cognitive changes (AUC for baseline cognition, 0.667;AUC for changes, 0.666;z = 0.021, p = .242). Conclusions: The findings underscore the importance of dynamic cognitive monitoring in CHR individuals. Short-term cognitive changes significantly enhanced the prediction of nonremission but did not add predictive value for conversion to psychosis beyond baseline assessments. Specific cognitive domains, such as verbal learning and working memory, were particularly valuable for predicting clinical outcomes. © 2025 Society of Biological Psychiatry

Preventive strategies should be the utmost priority when dealing with diverse patients suffering from malignant ventricular arrhythmia (MVA) that can lead to sudden cardiac death (SCD). Electrocardiogram (ECG) data is commonly used as a predictor for MVA predictive models. In this study, all ECG signals from MIT-BIH databases were fragmented into five-minute durations with a frequency sampling of 128 Hz. To solve the absence of hybrid optimizations in Machine Learning (ML) models, a novel Variational Quantum Neural Network (VQNN) was invented. Empowered by deep learning capabilities and optimized quantum circuits design, VQNN achieved remarkable performances designated by an accuracy of up to 95.1%, a perfect 100% recall, and a 95.2% score of the area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic curve (AUC ROC) with Conjugate Gradient as an optimizer and EfficientSU2 as a quantum ansatz. Despite the susceptibility to quantum noise, this research settles a new trajectory of utilizing quantum variational algorithms to predict and expand its applicability for MVA cases. © 2024 The Authors.

Solar Dryer Dome (SDD), an agricultural facility for drying and preserving agricultural products, needs a smart ability to predict the future indoor climate accurately, including indoor temperature and indoor humidity, in order to optimize electricity usage. To overcome these challenges, deep learning has been a widely adopted method. This research aims to forecast the future indoor climate using time series data by implementing a sequence-to-sequence (seq2seq) architecture, which is mostly used in Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks. The two proposed seq2seq models, Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) seq2seq and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) seq2seq, have proven to be superior to the adapted LSTM and GRU. The results show that the seq2seq GRU model outperforms the adapted GRU baseline model by an average difference of 0.03013 in MAE and the seq2seq LSTM model outperforms the adapted LSTM baseline model by an average difference of 0.00941 in MAE. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first implementation of seq2seq models for indoor climate forecasting on the Room Climate dataset. © 2022 IEEE.
