Low back pain is a leading cause of disability globally, is often associated with degenerative lumbar spine conditions. Accurate diagnosis of these conditions is critical but challenging due to the subjective nature of MRI interpretation and the weak correlation between imaging findings and symptoms. Thus, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of CNN-based architectures (VGG-16, EfficientNetB0, EfficientNetV2) and transformer-based architecture specifically Vision Transformers (ViT) in classifying lumbar spine conditions as normal, moderate, or severe. Using the RSNA 2024 Lumbar Spine Degenerative Classification dataset. The models are evaluated using the ROC-AUC and PRAUC as the performance metrics due to the dataset imbalance. Results indicate that EfficientNetB0 achieved the highest overall performance, with an average ROC-AUC of 0.784 and PR-AUC of 0.528, demonstrating strong adaptability to imbalanced datasets. EfficientNetV2 also performed competitively, while VGG-16 showed moderate effectiveness. The Vision Transformer (ViT), however, underperformed due to its reliance on larger datasets and challenges in capturing fine-grained spatial features. The findings highlight the potential of EfficientNet-based models for accurate and efficient lumbar spine diagnostics. This study underscores the potential of advanced deep learning approaches in improving diagnostic workflows for degenerative lumbar spine conditions. © 2025 IEEE.

Graphs are non-Euclidean data structures used to model interaction relationships between abstract objects. When additional structures, such as graph orientation, weighted vertices, or weight functions on edges, are imposed on the graph, additional graph properties can be applied to discover hidden patterns within the structure of the graph. In this paper, we discuss possible granular structures for graphs, with a focus on granular structure for edge-weighted digraphs derived from pairwise comparison problems. These structures have been applied in various fields such as recommender systems, graph databases, and social network analysis. © 2023 IEEE.

Poverty is still a global problem that must be immediately eradicated by Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, namely ending poverty anywhere and in any form. In 2021, West Papua province will have the 2nd most significant percentage of poor people after Papua province, with 21.84% of the poor population. Poor households in West Papua province are dominated by families, with the Head of Household (KRT) working in the agricultural sector at 65.10 %. In this research, joint modelling was carried out between the level of household welfare and the employment sector of the head of the household in the West Papua province. It is suspected that these two variables have endogeneity problems, where one of the response variables becomes a predictor variable in the other equation, so a recursive bivariate binary probit regression model is used. Recursive bivariate binary probit regression parameter estimation uses Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE), but the results are not closed form, so it is continued using the Newton-Raphson iteration method. The results of hypothesis testing show that partially, variables that significantly influence the level of household welfare include the variable marital status, KRT formal/informal workers, health complaints, asset ownership status, migration status, number of household members, classification of area of residence (Village/City), age of head of household, and employment sector of head of household. Meanwhile, variables that significantly influence the choice of working in the agricultural sector include the director of household education, classification of area of residence (rural/city), and the age of the head of household. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). As the number of livestock farms in Korea decreases, the scale of individual farms has grown, necessitating advanced methods for efficient livestock management. Recent studies have increasingly applied computer vision and deep learning to monitor livestock behavior, health, and disease, aiming to enhance productivity and animal welfare. This study introduces a real-time cattle behavior detection system utilizing YOLOv9, a state-of-the-art object detection algorithm known for its high accuracy and efficiency. The YOLOv9-s model, optimized for real-time detection with minimal computational overhead, was employed. To further enhance detection accuracy, we incorporated AutoAugment, a data augmentation technique that automatically selects the optimal augmentation policies, and mixup, a method that improves model generalization by creating new training samples through linear interpolation of existing ones. The application of AutoAugment improved the mean Average Precision (mAP) from 0.926 to 0.941, while the addition of mixup raised the mAP to 0.947, representing a 2.1% performance increase. These results confirm the system's capability for accurate and efficient real-time detection of cattle behavior. Copyright © The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers.

Preventive strategies should be the utmost priority when dealing with diverse patients suffering from malignant ventricular arrhythmia (MVA) that can lead to sudden cardiac death (SCD). Electrocardiogram (ECG) data is commonly used as a predictor for MVA predictive models. In this study, all ECG signals from MIT-BIH databases were fragmented into five-minute durations with a frequency sampling of 128 Hz. To solve the absence of hybrid optimizations in Machine Learning (ML) models, a novel Variational Quantum Neural Network (VQNN) was invented. Empowered by deep learning capabilities and optimized quantum circuits design, VQNN achieved remarkable performances designated by an accuracy of up to 95.1%, a perfect 100% recall, and a 95.2% score of the area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic curve (AUC ROC) with Conjugate Gradient as an optimizer and EfficientSU2 as a quantum ansatz. Despite the susceptibility to quantum noise, this research settles a new trajectory of utilizing quantum variational algorithms to predict and expand its applicability for MVA cases. © 2024 The Authors.

This study investigates the challenges and opportunities of managing educational funds and controlling operational costs in two educational systems. It examines how factors such as school infrastructure, technology integration, teacher professional development, and parental involvement influence educational funding and quality. This study also explores the importance of equitable and efficient fund allocation, especially for remote schools that face resource constraints and development gaps. To analyze the financial trends of educational fund management, this study applies three machine learning models: decision trees, random forests, and support vector machines. The results show that the random forest model has the highest overall accuracy (90%) and the decision tree model has perfect accuracy in classifying institutions based on local income. This study identifies the most relevant features and demonstrates the effectiveness of the models in categorizing institutions and evaluating the fund management performance in the education sector. © 2024 IEEE.

Natural disasters, including earthquakes, cyclones, floods, and wildfires, cause significant environmental damage and have emerged as a major global issue. These events can result in loss of life and disrupt communities and economy. Effective disaster management relies on timely and accurate information. With social media becoming a primary source of real-time information during such events, many images of these disasters are shared, though some may not be accurately labeled. Therefore, the purpose of this study is classifying natural disaster images, mainly cyclone, wildfire, flood, earthquake from social media images. This paper is to conduct a comparative analysis over 4 models namely VGG16, VGG19, EfficientNetB0, and ResNet-50. This paper uses a dataset that contains 4428 human-annotated images including cyclones, earthquakes, floods, and wildfires. Results concluded that ResNet-50 and EfficientNetB0 give the best result with both got over 96% average accuracy. ResNet-50 delivers more stable and more convergent results compared to EfficientNetB0, but it delivers slightly less classification accuracy. VGG16 and VGG19 are both outclassed in terms of accuracy, but better in training time, with VGG19 having a more convergent result. ©2024 IEEE.

A bank's marketing campaign execution is very important. Undoubtedly, a well-crafted marketing plan will contribute to the bank's increased revenue. Marketing is crucial because it can be used to connect with consumers and inform them of the advantages of making a deposit with the bank, which will increase the number of deposits the bank receives. Thus, the goal of this research is to determine the best customer information that affects their decision on subscribing a term deposit and providing the best model for predicting the outcome of future marketing campaign. By determining the significance of each feature, this research constructed machine learning models using methods like Support Vector Machine (SVM), Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF) and Logistic Regression (LR) as our research contribution. According to the research's findings, out of the three machine learning models, Random Forest (RF) has the highest accuracy scores. Additionally, the feature importance model reveals that a customer's decision to make a deposit or not is greatly influenced by factors such as the age of the customer, how much does the customer has in their bank account, did the bank have contacts with longer call durations, and did it has a positive outcomes on the previous marketing campaigns. The customers who are contacted more frequently and have subscribed before are more likely to subscribe in the future marketing campaign. © 2024 IEEE.

In the highly competitive telecommunications industry, customer churn poses a significant threat to revenue and long-term sustainability. To proactively address this challenge, machine learning (ML) techniques offer promising solutions for predicting and mitigating customer churn. This study applies ML algorithms to churn prediction, focusing on the challenges of imbalanced data. Using a publicly available Telecom dataset from Kaggle, the data was meticulously prepared through a multi-stage process, including Random Under-Sampling (RUS) to address class imbalance. The study employed a range of ML algorithms, evaluating their performance using key metrics such as recall, precision, F1score, and accuracy. The findings reveal valuable insights into how RUS can enhance model performance by improving the prediction of the minority class. XGBoost outperformed Logistic Regression and Random Forest in accurately identifying positive outcomes, suggesting its effectiveness in recognizing true instances of customer churn. The confusion matrix supports this observation, showing that the recall value produced by XGBoost slightly exceeded those for Logistic Regression and Random Forest. © 2024 IEEE.

Accurate box office prediction is crucial for managing financial risks in film production. The internet has transformed consumer behavior, affecting marketing strategies. Critical online reviews, more than early revenue, predict a film's profit, while establishing film critics as the predictors. Hence, this study investigates the intricate relationship between ratings and movies profit. While also finding the best model to predict those variables. This research was conducted through a comprehensive process encompassing data collection and processing, feature selection, prediction modeling, and a detailed discussion of the conducted analysis. Several manual interventions were applied to the data to support further discoveries and analysis in this research. These interventions were carried out based on a solid foundation to enhance the depth of exploration and understanding within the study. The findings reveal that the random forest regression emerged as the most effective in this study, achieving the Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 768.40. Leveraging a dataset of 500 movies from ***, incorporating critics' ratings from ***. Through this research, industry professionals not only enhance their understanding but also identify factors that can be considered to increase a movie's revenue. © 2024 IEEE.
