In this paper, we propose a novel Prior-Guided Parallel Residual Bi-Fusion Feature Pyramid Network (PPRB-FPN) for accurate obstacle detection in unmanned surface vehicle (USV) sailing. Our method tackles the challenge of detecting small objects, which are prone to information vanishing. To the end, we leverage the PRB-FPN for small object detection and YOLOv7 as a single-stage object detector to effectively identify obstacles. Our experimental results on the Obstacle Detection Challenge dataset at the 1st Workshop on Maritime Computer Vision (MaCVi) demonstrate that our method outperforms both Mask R-CNN (mrcnn) and YOLOv7, achieving an F_avg score of 0.514.

This research paper analyzes the Air Pollution Standard Index (APSI) in Jakarta, Indonesia, using the Random Forest Classifier (RFC). The study aims to predict the APSI level in Jakarta based on the concentrations of various pollutants, including particulate matter (PM), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), carbon monoxide (CO), and ozone (O3). The data used in the study was collected from a public website called Jakarta Open data from January to December 2020. The SMOTE-Tomek technique was used to handle an imbalanced dataset in this work. The results show that the RFC model accurately predicts the APSI level in Jakarta with an accuracy of 95%. In addition, RFC can identify ozone (O3) and particulate matter (PM) are the most critical factors influencing the APSI level. This study provides valuable insights into the factors influencing air pollution in Jakarta and can be used to inform city decision-making regarding air quality management. This paper discusses the finding's significance and potential future research directions.

In this paper, we investigate the iterative solution of a sequence of graph Laplacian systems by leveraging the (relative) continuity of the generalized inverse operator. Our primary objective is to extend traditional matrix perturbation techniques specifically to the context of graph Laplacian systems. We achieve this by modeling the evolution of these systems starting from a given initial graph Laplacian and applying a series of systematic updates. We propose a novel framework that formulates an iterative method for solving the targeted graph Laplacian system based on the solutions of simpler, earlier Laplacian systems. By establishing a relationship between the solutions of two Laplacian systems, we derive a recursive formula that enables efficient computation of the updated solutions. This approach not only enhances computational efficiency but also maintains accuracy, as it utilizes the inherent structure of the graph Laplacian, including its positive semi-definiteness and the zero-mean condition of the right-hand side.

Social network analysis has created a productive framework for the analysis of the histories of patient-physician interactions and physician collaboration. Notable is the construction of networks based on the data of "referral paths"- sequences of patient-specific temporally linked physician visits - in this case, culled from a large set of Medicare claims data in the United States. Network constructions depend on a range of choices regarding the underlying data. In this paper we introduce the use of a five-factor experiment that produces 80 distinct projections of the bipartite patient-physician mixing matrix to a unipartite physician network derived from the referral path data, which is further analyzed at the level of the 2,219 hospitals in the final analytic sample. We summarize the networks of physicians within a given hospital using a range of directed and undirected network features (quantities that summarize structural properties of the network such as its size, density, and reciprocity). The different projections and their underlying factors are evaluated in terms of the heterogeneity of the network features across the hospitals. We also evaluate the projections relative to their ability to improve the predictive accuracy of a model estimating a hospital's adoption of implantable cardiac defibrillators, a novel cardiac intervention. Because it optimizes the knowledge learned about the overall and interactive effects of the factors, we anticipate that the factorial design setting for network analysis may be useful more generally as a methodological advance in network analysis. © 2023 The Author(s).

The effect of visual advanced driver assistance systems on a following human driver in a mixed-traffic condition

Rapid development in vehicular technology has caused more automated vehicle control to increase on the roads. Studies showed that driving in mixed traffic with an autonomous vehicle (AV) had a negative impact on the time headway (THW) of conventional vehicles (CVs) (i.e., driven by humans). To address this issue, there is a need to equip CV with visual advanced driver assistance systems (ADASs) that helps the driver maintain safe headway when driving near AVs. This study examines the perception of drivers using visual ADAS and their associated risk while driving behind the AV at constant and varying speeds. The preliminary results showed that while visual ADAS could help drivers keep the safe THW, it could affect drivers’ ability to react to emergencies. This implies that visual modality alone might not be sufficient and therefore requires some other feedback or intelligent transport systems to help drivers maintain safe driving in a mixed-traffic condition.

The economy is one of the determinants of how a person can live their life. In this current economic situation, inflation occurs everywhere, causing the prices of necessities to rise. In order to have a decent life, people must find a job with the highest possible salary to fulfill their needs. Various job industries have their salary range. Obtaining the information of salary level for the respective job is helpful for employers and employees to estimate the expected salary. This work aims to classify the salary level of jobs available in Indonesia and determine whether those salaries are decent enough. The learning methods are logistic regression, decision tree, k-nearest neighbor, support vector machine, voting classifier, bagging classifier, random forest, and boosting classifier. Random Forest achieved the best result with an accuracy rate of 72%. Based on the analysis result, factors such as job field, educational background, working experience, working hours, and job location influence salary.

Gastrointestinal diseases are significant health concerns that mostly affect the digestive and biliary tracts. These can only be observed internally through endoscopy, or a modern approach named Wireless Capsule Endoscopy. Though the approach has proven to work, the process relies heavily on medical experts, which is prone to error when given a considerably large load. The use of deep learning in detecting diseases with images has been proven to work in various cases and can be implemented for gastrointestinal diseases. This study compared four deep learning models based on Convolutional Neural Network architectures consisting of the VGG16, ResNet152V2, InceptionV3, and Xception for classifying colon disease images. The experiment showed that the ResNet152V2 performed the best, compared to the other three with a testing accuracy score of 0.9837. On the other hand, the VGG16 had the lowest performance with around accuracy score of 0.89 while the Xception and InceptionV3models yielded similar accuracy scores of 0.9587 and 0.9549, respectively. The results highlight the effectiveness of ResNet152V2 in handling the complexity of colon disease detection

There are many cases where borrowed money by debtors is not returned. It is because the company misjudged in determining the risk of lending. Thus, debtors cannot repay their debts and end up in losses on the company's side. Thus, this research aims to create an accurate classification model for determining loan risk categories to minimize business losses. We used the public dataset from kaggle website. Then we perform several data transformation and analysis methods are performed to obtain information from the data. We built 2 classification models to predict the original label. Unfortunately, the desired results did not achieve based on the f1-score. Therefore, the clustering method using K-Means is applied to make a new label for the dataset and determine the behavior of each cluster. Each cluster is labeled then build a model to perform cluster classification. We created several classification models and found that gradient tree boosting is the most accurate predictor of the loan risk category based on the accuracy. We used clustering to create a classification model that can have high accuracy. The classification model we built can have high accuracy because it uses clustering. The empirical results of this study and others pave the way for further in-depth future work to guarantee that the algorithm performs acceptably when confronted with more complicated real data.

This paper develops an algorithmic approach for obtaining estimates of the weight enumerators of Reed-Muller (RM) codes. Our algorithm is based on a technique for estimating the partition functions of spin systems, which in turn employs a sampler that produces codewords according to a suitably defined Gibbs distribution. We apply our method to moderate-blocklength RM RM) codes. We apply our method to moderate-blocklength RM codes and derive approximate values of their weight enumerators. We observe that the rates of the weight enumerator estimates returned by our method are close to the true rates when these rates are either known or computable by brute-force search;in other cases, our computations provide provably robust estimates. As a by-product, our sampling algorithm also allows us to put together the weight spectrum, i.e., the weights at which the enumerators are non-zero, of an RM code, by providing witnesses in the form of codewords at each weight in the spectrum. We illustrate our method by providing estimates of the hitherto unknown weight enumerators of the RM(11, 5) code for weights that are multiples of 4 between 512 and 1024. We also obtain the exact weight spectrum of the RM(10, 4) code. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

Despite their drawbacks, multiple-choice questions (MCQ) have been widely used to assess the students' understanding of lectures through examinations. The development of automatic MCQ generation is beneficial, especially for educators. As a starting point for further development, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is conducted to uncover current trends, future challenges, and opportunities in automatic MCQ generation. Previously, an SLR was conducted, but it lacks coverage of the utilization of transformer-based models. This SLR covers the development of automatic MCQ generation using either traditional or advanced approaches such as Transformers. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses framework was used to gather the data from Scopus, IEEE Xplore, SpringerLink, arXiv, and Semantic Scholar. The included articles must be open-access computer science conference papers or journal articles and written in English less than five years ago. Four independent reviewers analyzed the research workflow, evaluation metric, and dataset used in each study. There are 18 included studies, where 17% (n = 3) studies are from 2024, 33% (n = 6) studies are from 2023, 22% (n = 4) studies are from 2022, 11% (n = 2) studies are from 2021, and 17% (n = 3) studies are from 2020. There are 33% (n = 6) of the studies used the traditional feature-based engineering approach, 39% (n = 7) of the studies used the Transformer-based model fine-tuning approach, and the remaining used novel approaches. The study found that BERT variants are the most utilized Transformer-based model in automatic MCQ. The research notes some challenges, but also open various opportunities for further research, including Large Language Model (LLM) utilization for automatic MCQ generation, the utilization BERT-based models for standardized machine-learned evaluation metrics, and the initiative for the creation of an MCQ dataset benchmark.
