SKA sensitivity to sub-GeV dark matter decay: Synchrotron radio emissions in white dwarf magnetospheres

We investigate the potential of the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) in detecting synchrotron radiation emitted from the decay of sub-GeV dark matter (dark matter with masses below the GeV scale) in the presence of strong magnetic fields. As a concrete setup, we consider scenarios where the magnetosphere of a magnetic white dwarf overlaps with dense dark matter environments, such as those surrounding a primordial black hole. Our study reveals that the encounters of compact objects such as white dwarfs and black holes offer a promising avenue for upcoming radio telescopes to probe the properties of light dark matter, which has been less explored compared with more conventional heavier (masses above the GeV scale) dark matter.

Heavy metal and microplastic pollutions are prevalent in freshwater ecosystems, with many freshwater bodies being contaminated by one or both of these pollutants. Recent studies reported extreme detections of Cd, Pb and Zn, high concentrations of Cr, Pb and Cu and microplastics acting as vectors of pollutants, including heavy metals. Mayflies can serve as bioindicators of heavy metal contamination in freshwater ecosystems because changes in their community structure, physiology, and behaviour can reflect and help predict the concentrations of metals in these environments. This review discusses the ecological alterations induced by tissue metal concentration in mayflies and other macroinvertebrates. As sensitive taxa to heavy metal contamination, mayflies can reflect the impacts of this pollution through their ethology and relationship to the substrate, highlighting issues such as eutrophication, alterations in community structure, inhibitory effects and sediment toxicity. Mayflies are also highly affected by microplastic exposure, which leads to ingestion, bioaccumulation, biomagnification, habitat and community alteration, behavioural changes, physiology alteration and toxicity. Mayflies bioindication metrics for assessing the impact of heavy metals and microplastics include the examination of community alteration, functional feeding behaviour, molecular structure, dietary and toxicity impacts, bioaccumulation and biomagnification and biomarkers. Current challenges for the utilization of mayflies as bioindicators include temporal variations in sensitivity, lack of universally recognised protocols and need for standardised protocols for microplastic analysis. Additionally, the applicability of mayflies as bioindicators may vary across different ecosystems, emphasising the need for selecting suitable indicators that align with the unique characteristics of the ecosystem. © 2024 The Authors

With the rapid growth of the textile, leather, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries, concerns about pollutants in these sectors, especially dye pollutants, are increasing. This research characterizes bacterial nanocellulose acetate membranes made from Sargassum extract reinforced with copper oxide nanoparticles and tests their antibacterial properties and dye removal in water. Sargassum sp. extract was fermented using Acetobacter xylinum for 10 days, producing bacterial nanocellulose, which was then esterified to create bacterial nanocellulose acetate. Copper oxide nanoparticles were added to the bacterial nanocellulose acetate solution in varying concentrations, cast, and oven-dried. The membrane was analyzed using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, antibacterial activity, and dye removal. Results showed uniform copper oxide nanoparticles distribution on the membrane surface. Structure analysis revealed diffraction peaks at 35.44° and 38.57°, indicating a reduced crystalline index but improved membrane effectiveness. Antibacterial tests showed a zone of inhibition against bacterial growth, increasing with higher copper oxide nanoparticle content. The addition of copper oxide nanoparticles also influenced the dye removal capacity for Metanil Yellow, Congo Red, Eosin Yellow, Methylene Blue, and Malachite Green. The kinetic analysis showed that the adsorption process follows a pseudo-first-order model, with higher correlation coefficients (R2) compared to the pseudo-second-order model. © 2024 The Author(s)

E-learning is a system or concept of education or learning process that utilizes information technology in the teaching and learning process anywhere and anytime. E-learning is widely applied in various fields of science. In this study, we draw scientific efforts on e-learning and entrepreneurship from publications in the Scopus database. We reviewed 218 academic documents published over the last 10 years, from 2011 to 2020. Our method is a global bibliometric analysis by visualizing connected networks using Vosviewer. The method used consists of five stages: determining search keywords, initial search results, refinement of search results, initial compilation, and data analysis. We researched several countries, affiliations, authors, subject areas, to types of publications that have relations in this field. Among the most published and indexed articles by Scopus, papers published by researchers in the China have the highest number of publications is 36 academic documents, followed by United States 18 academic publications, and Italy with 16 academic publications. The results showed that it had a limited impact, and through visualization, the network presented research gaps that future researchers should fill. The processed data shows the pattern and trend of increasing the number of international publications on E-learning in the field of entrepreneurship indexed by Scopus. Finally, we address the limitations of this study. © 2021 IEEE.

Using the Scopus database, this study aims to investigate the use of artificial intelligence for cancer detection in the last ten years from 2013 to 2022. The researchers used bibliometric analysis combined with VosViewer and Rstudio software quantification method for literature analysis. The results of the flushed articles show data such as publication year, journal, country, keywords, and authors, to the highest number of citations. Common keywords used by researchers are artificial intelligence, medical, and human. Researchers limited the findings through keywords such as in the last ten years, documents are journals, and English only so that 1868 articles were obtained. The results found that Harvard Medical School affiliation had the highest number of articles, with 101 articles, by subject area, Medicine had a proportion of 41.9% (n=1320). This bibliometric study will be useful for other researchers to examine the development of research on Artificial Intelligence for Cancer Detection in the last ten years.

An e-Commerce company has been using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for several years, but is still constrained in its implementation, this is reflected in the number of issue/change request tickets submitted by users who have not been able to reach ideal conditions. To overcome this problem, we need an appropriate reference model, the ERP system user acceptance model in companies. The study conducted factors that influence the level of acceptance of SAP ERP users in the XYZ group to then determine a model that is able to explain practically the level of ERP system user acceptance, which in turn can produce concrete proposals to increase ERP system user acceptance. Research is quantitative descriptive using factor analysis and regression analysis methods. The research method uses a questionnaire with a total of 107 valid respondents coming from 8 company names under the XYZ group in 6 Southeast Asian countries. The conclusion of the study is that there are 24 indicators and 4 factors that influence user acceptance of the SAP ERP system. These four factors are the low contribution of the ERP system, the quality of ERP systems and data, the development of ERP systems, and also the low quality of ERP system supporters. It is hoped that by optimizing the value of the 4 factors, the XYZ group can increase user acceptance of the SAP ERP system so that the system can provide benefits expected by the company to be competitive advantage. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Drying is an essential process for food preservation by reducing food losses of agricultural products. Porang tubers are one of the potential food products with a high economic value and various benefits for the food industry. The commercial product of porang tubers is slices dried or chips dried. Passive drying mechanism utilizes sunlight in the drying chamber with a natural airflow mechanism. The tool used is a direct passive solar box dryer. It is a small box made up of plywood, with a transparent cover on it. Direct type passive drying is a drying machine in the drying chamber with an airflow mechanism where direct sunlight enters the drying chamber. The drying process is carried out by placing the sample at the top, middle, and bottom of the drying chamber with the size of 2x2x0.8 cm. The objective of this study was to determine the characteristic of moisture content of porang tubers slices and to fitted of suitable drying model. The method uses the pre-drying treatment that is non-blanching and blanching with a temperature of 60℃. The simplest method for blanching is immersion for a few minutes in boiling/near-boiling water that is used water bath. Passive drying of porang tubers slices is carried out in two stages. Drying data analysis is used to determine the chi-square value (χ2) in the drying model and to validate the prediction accuracy of the obtained model. The models evaluated for compatibility are Newton, Henderson & Pabis, and Page. The results of the analysis showed that the value of moisture content in the dried slices was 6.07% (wet basis) and 4.72% (wet basis) respectively, with a total drying time of 1620 minutes. Page's model with the equation MR=exp (−ktn) is the most suitable model for the blanching temperature method of 60℃. The constant value of Page's equation is obtained as follows: k=0.02624, n=1.101326 and χ2= 0.997551.

The objective of the research was to analyze the clustering method by optimizing Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) in the case of measles immunization for children under the age of 5. The research data source used is the North Sumatra Province Central Bureau of Statistics (https://***/). The data used in 2019 included 33 records with variables BCG, DPT-HB3/DPT-HB/Hib3, CAMPAK (MEASLES + RUBELLA), POLIO 4 and HEPATITIS B. The methods used were k-medoids and PSOs. This method is used to determine the value of the Davies Bouldin Index (DBI) before the cluster value is determined (k). The resulting k values were compared to k-medoids without PSO. The best results of k-medoid and PSO will be tested by classification to see the accuracy value of the cluster formed. The results showed that the optimization of k-medoids and PSO was better with the number of clusters (k = 5) than 0.078. (DBI). The results also show that the accuracy of the cluster formed is 95% with a correlation of 0.98. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This research aimed to: (1) producing ignition system practice learning products and (2) to know the feasibility of ignition system practice learning media in automotive electrical system courses in the Department of Automotive engineering Education Yogyakarta State *** study was a research and development using the 4D development model (define, design, develop, and dissemination). The subjects of this study were 38 students of the Department of Automotive engineering Education. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation and closed questions to get preliminary data from automotive workshops as well as students of automotive engineering education and questionnaires to find out the results of practical learning media from experts and users. The feasibility data analysis is done by describing it into 5 categories as on the Likert *** results of this development research are: (1) the resulting ignition system practice learning media products in the form of job sheets which have word format and video tutorial with MP4 format and (2) the feasibility of this practice learning media is determined by material experts (4.74) for job sheets that are categorized as very feasible and (4.95) for video tutorials that are categorized as very feasible, eligibility based on media experts (4.78) for job sheets that are included in the very feasible category and (5.00) for video tutorials that were in the very feasible category, the response of students as users received a rating (4.04) for the job sheet that was in the appropriate category and (4.13) for the video tutorial which was in the appropriate category. So that the development of ignition system practice learning media is feasible to use. © 2020 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

Fabrication of PSf/P84-blended membranes with low P84 content: Characteristics and gas separation performance

The demand for efficient and sustainable gas separation technologies is ever-increasing in various industries, including petrochemicals, natural gas processing, and carbon capture. Polymer-based membranes offer a promising solution due to their potential for high selectivity and energy efficiency. However, achieving optimal gas separation performance often requires overcoming the limitations of individual polymers through modifications such as polymer blending. In this study, PSf/P84 blended membranes with low P84 content were fabricated using the phase separation technique with a mixture of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and tetrahydrofuran as solvents. The effect of varying the mass ratio of PSf to P84 on membrane characteristics and gas separation performance was investigated. Characterization techniques included FTIR, XRD, SEM, TGA, Water Contact Angle (WCA) measurement, and mechanical property testing. Gas permeation tests were conducted with single gases at room temperature and 1 bar pressure. The results revealed that the addition of P84 increased membrane thickness, Young's modulus, and thermal stability, while decreasing d-spacing, dense layer thickness, hydrophilicity, tensile strength, and elongation. The F_index values, indicating the competence of the blended membranes compared to the ideal quality, demonstrated the positive impact of P84 addition on gas separation performance compared to pure PSf membranes. The optimal gas separation selectivity was achieved with the PSf/P84 1:0.025 blended membrane for H₂/CH₄ (11.28, 58 % increase), H₂/CO₂ (6.25, 193 % increase), and H₂/N₂ (5.25, 35 % increase). The highest N₂/CH₄ selectivity (6.29, 253 % increase) was observed with the 1:0.10 composition. Regarding commercially relevant separations based on the 2008 Robeson curve, the PSf/P84 1:0.20 blend showed promise for H₂/CO₂ separation, while the 1:0.
