Developing learning video of making mango sorbet for agriculture product processing course

Generation Z uses technology frequently and demands learning that is individualized, engaging, digital, and visually based. They prefer learning videos to learn about the product making process. The research objectives were to develop the video of making mango sorbet for the Agriculture Product Processing course and evaluate the feasibility of the video. This was a research & development (R&D) study using 4D models (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The video was captured using Sony NX100 camera and Kino Flo 6-bank lighting. The presenter and voice-over dubber's sound were recorded using Boya BY WM8 wireless microphone. The video was edited by Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017. The video had a duration of 14 minutes 29 seconds with mp4 format. The video consisted of the opening section, the content section, and the closing section. The opening and closing section were delivered by the presenter. The content section was demonstrated by an actress and voice-over dubber. The video feasibility was evaluated by 2 material experts, a media expert, and 30 students of Vocational High School (VHS) 1 Cangkringan. The data were analysed descriptively. According to the feasibility evaluation, the making mango sorbet video was considered to be very feasible to be utilized as a learning media.

This paper is collaboration between BMKG and the University of Mataram to mitigate landslides by utilizing C-band radar data and rain gauges in measuring rainfall as the main factor triggering disasters. In heavy and prolonged rains, there is a chance for disasters to occur. Based on the observations of the Lombok International Airport Meteorological Station (-8°76'59"LS and 116°27’'91"E), the 24-hour cumulative rain on January 30, 2021, the analysis results of 64 mm/h can be included in the category of extrime rainfall.

Utilizing natural waste materials to decolorize synthetic and natural dyes offers a promising solution for mitigating environmental pollution. The adsorption isotherms and decolorization kinetics of curcumin onto Pondoh snake fruit seed (PSFS) biochar were predicted using ten isotherm models and the Generalized Fulazzaky (GF) equations, respectively, providing insights into the behavioral characteristics of the adsorption process. Simulations using the Harkin-Jura model demonstrated a good fit, with R ² values exceeding 0.6909 across PSFS biochar granular sizes of 13.65, 25.49, and 65.13 μm, indicating capillary condensation and multilayer adsorption, which validates the GF equations’ applicability. Applying the GF equations to adsorption kinetics simulations showed that declining external mass transfer (EMT) rates were offset by increasing internal mass transfer (IMT) rates. The increase in IMT rates ([ k L a ] d < 0.0 min −1 ) was less pronounced than the decrease in EMT rates ([ k L a ] f > 0.0 min −1 ), suggesting IMT governs curcumin adsorption’s rate-limiting step. PSFS biochar with an average granular size of 25.49 μm proved most effective for decolorizing 100 mg L −1 curcumin, exhibiting a global mass transfer rate range of 0.0020 to 0.0079 min −1 . Utilizing PSFS biochar for curcumin removal contributes to sustainable environmental remediation by advancing green technologies and informing dye effluent management strategies.

It is important to study the properties of high quality single crystal in order to resolve the issue of an interesting material in which certain debatable fundamental properties exist. However, it is unfortunate that a sizable single crystal for experimental measurements is not always available. NbN is one of the examples; it has attracted scientific and engineering interest due to its diverse physical properties and a variety of structural phases. Until now superconductivity is only observed in cubic δ- and tetragonal γ-NbN but not in hexagonal ɛ-NbN. Recently, Zou et al. reported the observation of superconductivity with Tc∼11.6K in a hexagonal ɛ-NbN based on the measurement on a multiphase powder specimen. In order to resolve the issue, the work used the electron backscattering diffraction technique to characterize phases of micron-size NbN crystals from commercial powders and measure their transport properties. Our results unambiguously confirm that the hexagonal ɛ-NbN phase is not superconducting.

Genotype-to-phenotype mappings translate genotypic variations such as mutations into phenotypic changes. Neutrality is the observation that some mutations do not lead to phenotypic changes. studying the search trajectories in genotypic and phenotypic spaces, especially through neutral mutations, helps us to better understand the progression of evolution and its algorithmic behaviour. In this study, we visualise the search trajectories of a genetic programming system as graph-based models, where nodes are genotypes/phenotypes and edges represent their mutational transitions. We also quantitatively measure the characteristics of phenotypes including their genotypic abundance (the requirement for neutrality) and Kolmogorov complexity. We connect these quantified metrics with search trajectory visualisations, and find that more complex phenotypes are under-represented by fewer genotypes and are harder for evolution to discover. Less complex phenotypes, on the other hand, are over-represented by genotypes, are easier to find, and frequently serve as stepping-stones for evolution. © 2022, CC BY.

Red chili peppers are extensively used in the culinary industry due to their high vitamin C, antioxidant content, spice, and natural colorant properties. Traditional methods for determining these parameters are time-consuming and unstable. This study investigates the viability of visible near-infrared spectroscopy as a rapid and nondestructive method for determining vitamin C content and antioxidant activity in intact red chilies. Visible near-infrared spectroscopy measures the sample's light absorption, proportional to its chemical composition. Collecting intact red chili samples from various sources and determining their vitamin C content and antioxidant activity using conventional methods were required for the study. The visible near-infrared spectra of the pieces were collected using a spectrometer, and chemometric models were devised to correlate the spectra with the vitamin C content and antioxidant activity. Traditional methods were compared to visible near-infrared spectroscopy regarding their performance of prediction. In conjunction with chemometric models and machine learning algorithms, visible near-infrared spectroscopy could accurately predict red chilies' vitamin C content and antioxidant activity. The developed models exhibited high calibration and prediction coefficients, low root mean square errors, and high prediction-to-deviation ratios. The identified absorption peaks in the visible near-infrared spectra were related to the samples' color pigments and water content. This study demonstrates the feasibility of visible near-infrared spectroscopy as a rapid and nondestructive method for determining the vitamin C content and antioxidant activity of intact red chilies. The findings may have significant ramifications for the food industry, providing a more efficient and secure quality control and nutritional labeling method. Light detection and ranging (LiDAR) provides geospatial information with massive amounts of data to use in a variety of applications. Canopy cover percentage of tree crown is one application that is estimated through LiDAR data. This study aims to estimate a canopy cover derived from LiDAR used as reference data with multispectral Landsat 8 OLI. Statistical or machine learning approaches can be used to estimate a canopy cover. In statistical inference, the form of distribution chosen by the analyst and parameter is estimated from the data. This will be a problem in the construction function for the National scale, due to many ecosystems and then will have many functions for each ecosystem. Machine learning (ML) methods, in contrast, are various kinds of algorithms that are used to learn the mapping function or classification rules inductively, directly from the training data. ML can solve problems related to big data and global method and it will be used as a methodical approach to estimate canopy cover on the National scale. In this study, we use a support vector regression (SVR) as ML method to estimate the canopy cover. In 2017 summer, we observed a widespread bottom hypoxic zone at the lower estuary of the Pearl River estuary (PRE). We observed i) bacterial and AOA biomass accumulation, ii) oxygen consumption rates (respiration and nitrification) in the hypoxic zone. The potential microbial interaction of both oxygen-consuming microbes in the hypoxia remained unclear. To investigate the potential microbial interaction between AOA and heterotrophic bacteria in the hypoxic zone, we used bacterial and AOA communities (inferred from 16S rRNA gene and amoA gene, respectively) and multi-comparisons between the co-occurrence networks retrieved from DNA and RNA levels to reflect the pattern. We observed a highly diverse and active bacterial community in the hypoxia zone. The network topology revealed that Gammaproteobacteria, Bacteroidetes (Flavobacteriales), Alphaproteobacteria (Rhodobacterales and Rhodospirillales), Marinimicrobia, Cyanobacteria (Synechococcales), and AOA sublineages were module hubs and connectors, indicating that they were the keystone taxa of the microbial communities. The hub-subnetwork further showed robust co-occurrence between Gammaproteobacteria, Bacteroidetes (Flavobacteriales), Alphaproteobacteria (Rhodobacterales and Rhodospirillales), Marinimicrobia with AOA sublineages, and Nitrospinae (presumably NOB)) reflecting the formation of Degradation-Nitrification microbial assemblage in the hypoxia zone. The subnetworks revealed AOA ecotype-specific modularization and niche partitioning of different AOA sublineages. Interestingly, the recurring co-occurrence of SCM1-like II sublineages with Nitrospinae OTUs formed nitrifiers assemblage in the RNA subnetworks suggested an interaction via nitrite exchange. The Degradation-Nitrification microbial assemblage may contribute substantially to the oxygen consumption in the hypoxia formation in PRE. Indonesia meets the needs of 50% of the world's palm oil needs. Sources of Indonesian palm oil, 34 % are produced by independent smallholders. The lack of governance of independent smallholders leads to low productivity of their crops. Global market demands for palm oil derivative sources become an obligation to compete. The development of blockchain technology that favors traceability and transparency is applied in the supply agriculture sector, and this is an opportunity for how blockchain technology can help the palm oil supply chain become transparent and can find its source. This research uses the system development life cycle (SDLC) method. And business process model and notation in business model design. The results of the design of the FFB sale and purchase transaction system with blockchain technology have succeeded in connecting farmer transactions as FFB providers with traders and PKS as FFB buyers. Every transaction sent by the farmer will be locked by a hash, as immunity makes the data sent immutable. The system can display the traceability of transactions while maintaining the integrity of member information.

Laundry services are emerging in every corner of Bali, particularly at suburban area, from cities to villages. These services help the community to ease their burden. However, the burden for the environment is increase. The wastewater from the laundries should be controlled, which should be handled natural ways. One way of reducing the dangerous chemical from the laundry wastewater can be done by Vertical-Sub-surface Flow Constructed Wetland system, using volcanic rocks as substrate of plant grow and the plant as filters. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of volcanic rock and Canna plants as a filter for the laundry wastewater. The volcanic rock as substrate for the plant grows was place in layers in a drum and the laundry wastewater was flowed. The parameter of wastewater laundry, such as TDS, BOD, COD and total phosphate were measured before and after treatment. The treatment was run for 6 weeks. The result shows that this system is effective that overall can reduce the parameter measured for 53.86%. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.
