Multiple Nonparametric Regression Approach for Regional Mapping by Considering the Significance of the Independent Variables

This article presents a novel perspective on classification, utilizing the Spline nonparametric model as its foundation. In the realm of classification, this Spline model serves as a viable alternative to geographically weighted regression, logistic regression, and other classification models, especially when data patterns do not adhere to a specific distribution. Model parameter estimation is performed through the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) approach, and the data poverty severity index is employed to assess the model's performance. The results indicate that the Spline model with three knots outperforms other models, thus establishing itself as the cornerstone for classification. Additionally, we provide an overview of the distribution map based on the derived mathematical model. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). All Rights Reserved.

This study addresses the deficiencies in the assumptions of the results in Chen and Yang, 2017 [1] due to the lack of uniformity. We first show the missing hypothesis by presenting a counterexample. Then we prove why they are wrong in that form and show the errors in the proof of the main result of [1]. Next, we compare the assumptions and related results of [1] with similar works in the literature. Lastly, we give suggestions to complement the shortcomings of the hypotheses and thus correct them. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

The purpose of this research was to suggest an applicable procedure for computing the centroid moment tensor(CMT)automatically and in real time from earthquakes that occur in Indonesia and the surrounding *** software was used to estimate the CMT solution by selecting the velocity model that best suited the local and regional geological conditions in Indonesia and the surrounding *** data used in this study were earthquakes with magnitudes of 5.4 to ***-quality,real-time broadband seismographic data were provided by the International Federation of Digital Seismograph Networks Web Services(FDSNWS)and the European Integrated Data Archive(EIDA)Federation in Indonesia and the surrounding ***,the inversion process and filter adjustment were carried out on the seismographic data to obtain good CMT *** CMT solutions from Gisola provided good-quality solutions,in which all earthquake data had A-level quality(high quality,with good variant reduction).The Gisola CMT solution was justified with the Global CMT(GCMT)solution by using the Kagan angle value,with an average of approximately 11.2°.This result suggested that the CMT solution generated from Gisola was trustworthy and *** Gisola CMT solution was typically available within approximately 15 minutes after an earthquake *** it met the quality requirement,it was automatically published on the *** catalog of local and regional earthquake records obtained through this technology holds great promise for improving the current understanding of regional seismic activity and ongoing tectonic *** accurate and real-time CMT solution generated by implementing the Gisola algorithm consisted of moment tensors and moment magnitudes,which provided invaluable insights into earthquakes occurring in Indonesia and the surrounding areas.

By dividing a data set into new sets of variables known as principal components, or PCs, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is a popular method for lowering the dimensions of a data set while preserving as much variance as possible in the observed data set. The first few variables in the set maintain the majority of the variation found in the original variable since these principal components are sorted and uncorrelated. The number of variables in a multivariate analysis should always exceed the number of observations;nevertheless, this is not always true. Using Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) is more efficient when there are more variables than observations. Here, the theoretical study of SVD as a derivative of PCA was explored and adapted to analyze the discrete data, which is called Correspondence Analysis (CA). The application of this method in the analysis of ITB alumni tracer study data in study programs at the Faculty of mathematics and Natural sciences (FMIPA), School of Life sciences and Technology (SITH) and School of Pharmacy (SF) for the location of residence provided some quite interesting conclusions. The trend of site selection based on the characteristics of the knowledge studied was presented in a graphical design through CA using SVD and PCA. CA gave two-dimensional plots for data classified according to the contingency table by biplot. Through the biplot, the row category for mathematics study programs of FMIPA having an essential contribution to the positive pole of the PC first dimension was obtained, while the categories for Clinical and Community Pharmacy study programs of SF significantly contributed to the negative pole. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Sharia General Insurance is a type of insurance business that offers sharia principles-based non-life protection products. Sharia insurance product of motor vehicle is the most in demand by the public. On the other hand, this product also contributes significantly to claims for Partial Loss (PL), Total Loss Only (TLO), and Comprehensive All-Risk (CAR). This study aims to determine the relationship between the types of sharia motor vehicle claims and the customer’s locations using the correspondence analysis method. The analysis resulted in a correspondence map that explained the relationship between two variables, illustrating the types of sharia motor vehicle claims, which were mostly filled in specific city locations. From the contribution achievement data, four major cities had high rates of growth in sharia motor vehicle insurance contributions, namely: Jakarta (JKT), Bandung (BDG), Surabaya (SBY), and Medan (MDN). This study revealed that many customers submitted Partial Loss (PL) claims in Surabaya (SBY) and Medan (MDN), Total Loss Only (TLO) claims in Bandung (BDG), and Comprehensive All-Risk (CAR) claims in Jakarta (JKT). A numerical study on the interaction of electromagnetic waves with photonic crystals with one-dimensional periodicity has been carried out using the Finite Volume method. The photonic crystals with one-dimensional periodicity consists of 7 alternating layers of and with thicknesses of and, respectively. Electromagnetic field components have been simulated to propagate through the photonic crystal structure, experiencing reflection and transmission at each layer of the structure. The simulation results show the occurrence of absorption precisely at the Bragg frequency by the photonic crystal, which is referred to as the photonic band gap (PBG). A comparison of the simulation results has been conducted using different fluxes, such as the Lax-Friedrichs and upwind schemes, under PBG conditions. The results show smoother absorption using the Lax-Friedrichs scheme. Additionally, the use of a single-layer graphene on the front side of the photonic crystal has shown more perfect absorption compared to without the single-layer graphene. Therefore, the integrated graphene-photonic crystal system can be used as a perfect reflector. The simulation runs well using effective absorbing boundary conditions (ABCs) to reduce wave reflections at the edges of the computational window. Based on the simulation results, the Finite Volume method has been proven to be a powerful tool in describing electromagnetic wave propagation through photonic crystal systems with or without graphene. These findings provide a foundational model for fabrication approaches and holds potential for future advancements in sensor technologies, moreover two-dimensional and three-dimensional structures. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing. In recent years, the number of Indonesian investors has rapidly increased during the COVID-19 pandemic which happened all around the world. There have been a massive number of influencers in social media who were promoting investment. Although stocks and warrants are interesting choices, mutual funds still become the main ones for beginners. Therefore, this research focuses on the development of a stock portfolio model using the Black-Litterman method which involves the investor’s views towards the stock returns. The research refers to one of the largest equity funds in Indonesia, that is Sucorinvest Equity Fund, by using the top ten of its stocks that are majority in the fund (as of April 28, 2023). Furthermore, this research also constructs a structured warrant portfolio, but it is separated from the initially constructed stock portfolio. Structured warrants could be an appropriate choice for low-budget investors. It was newly introduced in Indonesia in September 2022 so it is interesting to be observed. Based on the results and the implemented assumptions, the return obtained from the stock portfolio is superior to the observed fund’s return. Meanwhile, call structured warrant portfolio using the existing product in the market yields a negative return, because the exercise price and warrant offered price were too high. Thus, structured warrants could be considered overpriced at the moment, so the chance of obtaining profit is extremely small. Due to its similar properties to call and put options, we propose the warrant pricing and use it in simulations, so in the future, structured warrants may become an attractive instrument for the investors. Urban Green Space (UGS) plays a vital role in maintaining the balance of urban ecosystems. In Yogyakarta City, urban development and an increase in population accompanied by a decrease and insufficiency in the proportion of UGS correlate with rising urban temperatures. Monitoring the availability of UGS can serve as a foundation for decision-making in managing the city's UGS. With advancements in technology and computing in the field of Computer Vision (CV), it's possible to recognize UGS from the geometric patterns of satellite images. This study proposes a vegetation segmentation method using satellite images and a Deep Learning (DL) method with the U-Net architecture to estimate the availability of UGS. Evaluation results show that the image dataset without preprocessing with the Red Green Blue (RGB) color channel gives an average Intersection over Union (IoU) of 80.74%. These results are better than data that underwent grayscaling and contrast stretching preprocessing. Based on a case study conducted in three sub-districts in the Yogyakarta region, the constructed U-Net model gave an average IoU evaluation of 60.88%. These results demonstrate the model's capability to provide a reference in calculating the UGS area at the sub-district level, which can then be utilized by the Yogyakarta City government to analyze the availability of UGS more efficiently. With this analysis, the government can make strategic decisions to manage UGS and create a sustainable urban environment. © 2023 IEEE.

Poverty is still a global problem that must be immediately eradicated by Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, namely ending poverty anywhere and in any form. In 2021, West Papua province will have the 2nd most significant percentage of poor people after Papua province, with 21.84% of the poor population. Poor households in West Papua province are dominated by families, with the Head of Household (KRT) working in the agricultural sector at 65.10 %. In this research, joint modelling was carried out between the level of household welfare and the employment sector of the head of the household in the West Papua province. It is suspected that these two variables have endogeneity problems, where one of the response variables becomes a predictor variable in the other equation, so a recursive bivariate binary probit regression model is used. Recursive bivariate binary probit regression parameter estimation uses Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE), but the results are not closed form, so it is continued using the Newton-Raphson iteration method. The results of hypothesis testing show that partially, variables that significantly influence the level of household welfare include the variable marital status, KRT formal/informal workers, health complaints, asset ownership status, migration status, number of household members, classification of area of residence (Village/City), age of head of household, and employment sector of head of household. Meanwhile, variables that significantly influence the choice of working in the agricultural sector include the director of household education, classification of area of residence (rural/city), and the age of the head of household. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers).
