In this paper,we propose a simple energy decaying iterative thresholding algorithm to solve the two-phase minimum compliance *** material domain is implicitly represented by its characteristic function,and the problem is formulated into a minimization problem by the principle of minimum complementary *** prove that the energy is decreasing in each *** effective continuation schemes are proposed to avoid trapping into the local *** results on 2D isotropic linear material demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

A semi-analytical finite element method(SAFEM),based on the two-scale asymptotic homogenization method(AHM)and the finite element method(FEM),is implemented to obtain the effective properties of two-phase fiber-reinforced composites(FRCs).The fibers are periodically distributed and unidirectionally aligned in a homogeneous *** framework addresses the static linear elastic micropolar problem through partial differential equations,subject to boundary conditions and perfect interface contact *** mathematical formulation of the local problems and the effective coefficients are presented by the *** local problems obtained from the AHM are solved by the FEM,which is denoted as the *** numerical results are provided,and the accuracy of the solutions is analyzed,indicating that the formulas and results obtained with the SAFEM may serve as the reference points for validating the outcomes of experimental and numerical computations.

For multivariate models, one of the important properties of a variable selection criterion is consistency, whereby the probability of selecting the true subset of explanatory variables approaches 1 as the sample size goes to infinity. However, in cases of high-dimensionality, the BIC, which is expected to be consistent under large-sample asymptotic theory, may not be consistent, and the AIC, which is said to be inconsistent under the same large-sample asymptotic theory, may be consistent. In this paper, we propose a high-dimensionality-adjusted consistent AIC called the HCAIC, which is an adjusted version of the consistent AIC proposed by Bozdogan (1987) regarding the effect of high-dimensionality through an asymptotic theory whereby the dimension of the vector of response variables allows both an increasing and a fixed condition as sample size increases. Through a series of numerical experiments, we verify that the proposed HCAIC is a high-performance information criterion in the sense that it can select the true subset of explanatory variables with high probability for any dimensionality. © 2024 The Authors.

This research explores the intricate relationship between questionnaire structures and the accuracy of learning style predictions among students. Focusing on the balance between core and secondary questions, the study meticulously analyzes various ratios, emphasizing their impact on the learning style classification system. Through rigorous testing and integration of the Felder-Silverman Learning Style Model (FSLSM) with the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm, the research uncovers crucial insights. Results showcase that a careful balance and distribution of questions significantly enhance the accuracy of predicting student learning styles, with accuracy rates reaching up to 89%. This study not only emphasizes the importance of personalized education but also demonstrates the practical applicability of advanced machine learning techniques. The findings provide a roadmap for the future of education, emphasizing a nuanced, question-specific approach for a more accurate, tailored, and responsive learning experience. © 2023 IEEE.

Stemming, an essential procedure in natural language processing (NLP), diminishes words to their base forms, facilitating tasks such as information retrieval and sentiment analysis. Although stemming techniques for highresource languages are well-developed, numerous low-resource languages, including dialect of Tulang Bawang, suffer from inadequate solutions owing to a scarcity of linguistic data and resources. Existing systems, including rule-based stemmers, have demonstrated efficacy in processing low-resource languages such as Indonesian and Javanese by utilizing established morphological rules. Nonetheless, these methods encounter considerable obstacles, such as restricted adaptability, inability to accommodate unusual root structures, and excessive dependence on fixed rules that might result in over- or understemming. Rule-based methodologies frequently misidentify roots when faced with intricate affixes or unconventional word forms. We introduce an improved rule-based Tulang Bawang Stemmer aimed at overcoming these constraints by enhancing current linguistic rules and integrating new patterns specific to the language's morphology. Assessed on 500 test samples and 200 independent test samples, our improved stemmer attained gold standard evaluation metrics of 96.2% and 94%, respectively, surpassing prior implementations in both precision and generalization. The findings demonstrate the potential of enhanced rule-based techniques to improving NLP for lowresource languages. Improved stemming performance enables better downstream applications, promotes more efficient text analysis, and advances research in underrepresented languages. © 2025 IEEE.

A risk function based on the standardized mean squared error of prediction is widely used for measuring the goodness of a model. However, using the risk function directly for model selection is generally not possible due to its inclusion of unknown parameters. The Cp criterion is an asymptotic unbiased estimator of the risk function that has been commonly used in place of the risk function for model selection. Because the Cp criterion can have a non-negligible bias against the risk function when the sample size is small, a modified Cp criterion that completely corrects this bias was proposed by Fujikoshi and Satoh (1997) in a multivariate linear regression model. In this paper, we propose a modified Cp criterion for common univariate models that generalize previous studies, i.e., the models in which the predicted response variables are defined as the product of a hat matrix and a vector of response variables. © 2024 The Authors.

In this paper, we investigate the weak convergence of an iterative method for solving classical variational inequalities problems with semistrictly quasimonotone and Lipschitz-continuous mappings in real Hilbert space. The proposed method is based on Tseng's extragradient method and uses a set stepsize rule that is dependent on the Lipschitz constant as well as a simple self-adaptive stepsize rule that is independent of the Lipschitz constant. We proved a weak convergence theorem for our method without requiring any additional projections or the knowledge of the Lipschitz constant of the involved mapping. Finally, we offer some numerical experiments that demonstrate the efficiency and benefits of the proposed method. © 2022 Journal of Applied and Numerical Optimization.

Solar energy utilization as electrical energy can be achieved by using solar panels and thermoelectric generators (PV-TEG) combination. Solar panels convert solar energy into electrical energy based on the principle of the photovoltaic effect. Meanwhile, the heat potential on the solar panels surface can be used to produce electrical energy using a thermoelectric generator based on the Seebeck effect. The electrical power generated by the PV-TEG is then fed into a DC-DC buck converter to lowering the electrical voltage according to the battery voltage capacity. This research aims to control the power transmitted from the PV-TEG to the battery to obtain optimal performance. Therefore, a circuit simulation of the DC-DC buck converter is conducted using LT-Spice to determine the converter's efficiency. The DC-DC buck converter circuit is designed using a lowpass filter with its cut-off frequency of 1000 Hz (R=50ω, L=33.8mH, and C=750nF). PV-TEG characterization is conducted to determine the input power range of the converter. The input power range obtained from the PV-TEG characterization is 18.98-20.55 V. The efficiency obtained through the LT-Spice simulation of the converter circuit is 72.94 %, with a maximum output voltage of 12.14 V. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability and death worldwide, underscoring the need for early and precise diagnosis to enhance patient outcomes. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a promising tool for stroke diagnosis, offering the potential to significantly improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. This paper reviews recent AI-based methods for stroke diagnosis, focusing on available datasets with various modalities and the AI techniques employed. We analyze the limitations of existing approaches, including data and model biases, lack of generalizability, and transparency issues. We then propose future directions for AI in stroke diagnosis, aiming to address these identified gaps, including the development of more robust and adaptable models, and improved data integration strategies. Finally, we emphasize the importance of ethical considerations and regulatory frameworks to ensure the responsible implementation of AI in this critical field. A GitHub repository is created to include recent codes and platforms that are available for stroke diagnosis. © 2024 IEEE.

Wave energy extraction by an OWC device in the presence of a porous bottom

The present study explores the effects of a porous bed on an oscillating water column (OWC) device under the assumptions of the linearized water wave theory and small-amplitude of the surface waves. The velocity potentials in each region have been determined by using the far-field and boundary conditions. To tackle the physical problem, two different mathematical techniques have been employed: the boundary element method (BEM) and the matched eigenfunction expansion method (EEM). The findings of the study are validated by the existing literature. The outcomes of the numerical results and analytical results are in good agreement. It is noted that as the width of the chamber increases, there is an increase in radiation conductance and a decrease in radiation susceptance. The zero efficiencies are observed multiple times as the width of the OWC device increases with respect to the dimensionless wavenumber. Moreover, the study reveals that full efficiency can be obtained by an OWC device over a porous bed for certain wave and structural parameters as obtained in the presence of an impermeable bottom. The proposed model can help to design and develop a successful OWC device. © 2024
