With the widespread usage of smartphones, users not just using their smartphone for calls and messaging only, but they are using it for a variety of purposes such as banking transactions, e-mailing, chatting, online shopping, video conferencing, health monitoring, and many more. Most of these activities store personal and sensitive data of the user on the device, reaching this confidential information by unauthorized person may cause huge losses and bad consequences. Therefore, securing the smartphone's accessibility from unauthorized people became an extremely essential. With the advanced development in the area of sensor-based smartphone authentication methods, different methods were developed to be easily used by users through specific criteria. However, many aspects haven't been discovered yet in the area of sensor-based smartphone authentication methods. On the basis of that, this study aims to review the area of sensor-based smartphone authentication methods systematically to provide a comprehensive understanding of this new area and to discuss the current challenges and issues. To conduct this systematic review, four scientific digital databases were utilized;scienceDirect, IEEE Xplore, Web of science, and Scopus. The total number of studies found was n = 256 articles, only n = 46 articles were included based on our inclusion criteria. To provide a comprehensive understanding of the included studies, taxonomy was drawn. Also, this study provides a discussion on the current motivations, challenges and issues, and recommendations in sensor-based smartphone authentication methods. This review enlightens, encourage, and direct researchers to develop authentication solutions and reduce the current gaps in this area. © 2024 The Authors

A method for understanding intentions of indirect speech acts in natural language interfaces

In an attempt to propose a robust method for understanding natural language (NL) interface commands, a scheme is proposed that infers intentions from an indirect speech-act that does not express users' real intentions explicitly. This method classifies the real intentions of the indirect speech-act into: 1) refusal;2) reversal;3) restriction;4) benefit;and 5) disability. Further, concepts are abstracted for operations, e.g., displaying, moving, and deleting information systems;and constructing the operation knowledge base. This knowledge based comprises operational concepts and the relationships between them. These relationships are assigned the foregoing classifications for intentions. In addition, we construct the knowledge base of objects for the target of operations, e.g., files, figures, strings. This knowledge base contains the relationships: a) antonym;b) exclusive;c) part-of, between the objects;and uses these relations to infer the transitions between the objects. An algorithm is the proposed to infer concepts for operations and concepts for target objects of operations that may represent the user's actual intentions. This proposal scheme was tested with requests on UNIX and a commercially available Japanese Word Processor. The system successfully inferred the intentions for approximately 80 percent of the user's indirect speech-act.

The privacy of sensitive data within the Internet of Things (IoT) is at risk due to potential privacy violations. These violations can occur through illegal access by external entities, as well as inadvertent disclosures or intentional attacks by those within the system who exceed their authorized access privileges. Furthermore, there needs to be more control experienced by data owners regarding their sensitive data as it transitions from their domain to other entities within the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem. Numerous methods have been presented in the academic literature over the past few years to effectively tackle the privacy concerns associated with the Internet of Things (IoT). This paper aims to classify existing literature by organizing it according to the specific technology or technique employed to safeguard privacy. The classification encompasses four primary areas of privacy solutions, specifically, solutions based on encryption, solutions based on identity management, solutions based on policy enforcement, and solutions focused on self-protection. The paper examines various state-of-the-art solutions within each category. It begins by providing a broad comparison between these solutions and our work. Subsequently, it focuses on a specific comparison of the privacy objectives of the offered PEFM solutions.

Message Passing Framework for Globally Interconnected Clusters

In prevailing technology trends it is apparent that the network requirements and technologies will advance in future. Therefore the need of High Performance computing (HPC) based implementation for interconnecting clusters is comprehensible for scalability of clusters. Grid computing provides global infrastructure of interconnecting clusters consisting of dispersed computing resources over Internet. On the other hand the leading model for HPC programming is Message Passing Interface (MPI). As compared to Grid computing, MPI is better suited for solving most of the complex computational problems. MPI itself is restricted to a single cluster. It does not support message passing over the internet to use the computing resources of different clusters in an optimal way. We propose a model that provides message passing capabilities between parallel applications over the internet. The proposed model is based on Architecture for Java Universal Message Passing (A-JUMP) framework and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) named as High Performance computing Bus. The HPC Bus is built using ActiveMQ. HPC Bus is responsible for communication and message passing in an asynchronous manner. Asynchronous mode of communication offers an assurance for message delivery as well as a fault tolerance mechanism for message passing. The idea presented in this paper effectively utilizes wide-area intercluster networks. It also provides scheduling, dynamic resource discovery and allocation, and sub-clustering of resources for different jobs. Performance analysis and comparison study of the proposed framework with P2P-MPI are also presented in this paper.

Coordinate descent methods have considerable impact in global optimization because global (or, at least, almost global) minimization is affordable for low-dimensional problems. Coordinate descent methods with high-order regularized models for smooth nonconvex box-constrained minimization are introduced in this work. High-order stationarity asymptotic convergence and first-order stationarity worst-case evaluation complexity bounds are established. The computer work that is necessary for obtaining first-order Ε-stationarity with respect to the variables of each coordinate-descent block is O(Ε−(p+1)/p) whereas the computer work for getting first-order Ε-stationarity with respect to all the variables simultaneously is O(Ε−(p+1)). Numerical examples involving multidimensional scaling problems are presented. High performance CFD simulations of sloshing in a moving tank with SPH method

The aim of this work is modeling of sway-sloshing motion in a partially filled rectangular tank while different frequency of motions are enforced. Within the study, a CFD code based on Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) approach is developed for modelling violent free surface flows. The code is parallelized in order to run efficiently in supercomputers to solve complex flow phenomenon occurs in the cargo and fuel tanks of ships with a high resolution. It is shown that numerical results of the proposed SPH scheme are in good agreement with experimental and numerical findings of the literature and presently benefits from complex compute nodes of supercomputers.

Quantum error correction is essential for the development of any scalable quantum computer. In this work we introduce a generalization of a quantum interleaving method for combating clusters of errors in toric quantum error-correcting codes. We present new n-dimensional toric quantum codes, where n ≥ 5, which are featured by lattice codes and apply the proposed quantum interleaving method to such new n-dimensional toric quantum codes. Through the application of this method to these novel n-dimensional toric quantum codes we derive new n-dimensional quantum burst-error-correcting codes. Consequently, n-dimensional toric quantum codes and burst-error-correcting quantum codes are provided offering both a good code rate and a significant coding gain when it comes to toric quantum codes. Another important consequence from the presented n-dimensional toric quantum codes is that if the Golomb and Welch conjecture in [1] regarding the Lee sphere in n dimensions for the respective close packings holds true, then it follows that these n-dimensional toric quantum codes are the only possible ones to be obtained from lattice codes.
