The impacts of water transfer on water quality under internal and external nutrient load in Chaohu Lake

Water transfer can alleviate the uneven distribution of regional water resources and improve the eutrophication status of water bodies in the receiving regions. However, few studies have quantitatively analyzed water quality changes in eutrophic lakes under water division considering the effects of internal and external nutrient load. Chaohu Lake, a large shallow lake in East China, was used as an example. Daily meteorological, hydrological, and water quality data for 2023–2024 were applied to develop a coupled hydrodynamic-water quality model using the Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code, considering seasonal sediment release of ammonia, phosphate, and nitrate. Based on this model, the seasonal contributions to nutrient loads from internal and external sources were quantified. Water transfer scenarios were employed to simulate and compare the spatial and temporal changes in the water level and water quality of Chaohu Lake. The results demonstrated that: 1) The simulated values of the water level, water temperature, and water quality parameters (including TN, TP, and DO) fit well with the measured values, thus confirming the reliability of the model. 2) The annual endogenous release of phosphorus and nitrogen accounted for 76.8 % and 75.3 % of the total load from internal and external sources, respectively. 3) Water transfer measures significantly altered the hydrological conditions of the lake, exacerbated seasonal fluctuations in nutrients, and increased sediment release, leading to an increase in TP concentration, and decrease of TN and DO. Under the four water transfer scenarios, the water transfer path of diverting water into Chaohu Lake (150 m³/s) through Zhao River and using the Baishitian River as the outlet significantly improved the water quality of the entire lake, with 5.03 % decrease in TN concentration and a minimum increase (14.29 %) of TP. In this paper, we study the induced probabilistic Boolean dynamics for dynamical quantum networks subject to sequential quantum measurements. In this part of the paper, we focus on closed networks of quits whose states evolutions are described by a continuous Lindblad master equation. When measurements are performed sequentially along such continuous dynamics, the quantum network states undergo random jumps and the corresponding measurement outcomes can be described by a probabilistic Boolean network. First of all, we show that the state transition of the induced Boolean networks can be explicitly represented through realification of the master equation. Next, when the open quantum dynamics is relaxing in the sense that it possesses a unique equilibrium as a global attractor, structural properties including absorbing states, reducibility, and periodicity for the induced Boolean network are direct consequences of the relaxing property. Finally, we show that for quantum consensus networks as a type of non-relaxing open quantum network dynamics, the communication classes of the measurement-induced Boolean networks are encoded in the quantum Laplacian of the underlying interaction graph.

Human-machine interface with muscle signals serves as an important role in the field of wearable robotics. To compensate for the limitations of the existing surface Electromyography (sEMG) based technologies, we previously proposed a noncontact capacitive sensing approach that could record the limb shape changes. The sensing approach frees the human skin from contacting to the metal electrodes, thus enabling the measurement of muscle signals by dressing the sensing front-ends outside of the clothes. We validated the capacitive sensing in human motion intent recognition tasks with the wearable robots and produced comparable results to existing studies. However, the biological significance of the capacitance signals is still unrevealed, which is an indispensable issue for robot intuitive control. In this study, we address the problems of identifying the relationships between the muscle morphological parameters and the capacitance signals. We constructed a measurement system that recorded the noncontact capacitive sensing signals and the muscle ultrasound (US) images simultaneously. With the designed device, five subjects were employed and the US images from the gastrocnemius muscle (GM) and the tibialis anterior (TA) muscle during level walking were sampled. We fitted the calculated muscle morphological parameters (the pinnation angles and the muscle fascicle length) and the capacitance signals of the same gait phases. The results demonstrated that at least one-channel capacitance signal strongly correlated to the muscle morphological parameters (R 2 > 0.5, quadratic regression). The average R 2 s of the most correlated channels were up to 0.86 for pinnation angles and 0.83 for the muscle fascicle length changes. The interesting findings in this preliminary study suggest the biological physical significance of the capacitance signals during human locomotion. Future efforts are worth being paid in this new research direction for more promising results.

Background: Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide, and affects people regardless of country, age group, or sex. Using the most recent evidentiary and analytical framework from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD), we produced location-specific, age-specific, and sex-specific estimates of diabetes prevalence and burden from 1990 to 2021, the proportion of type 1 and type 2 diabetes in 2021, the proportion of the type 2 diabetes burden attributable to selected risk factors, and projections of diabetes prevalence through 2050. Methods: Estimates of diabetes prevalence and burden were computed in 204 countries and territories, across 25 age groups, for males and females separately and combined;these estimates comprised lost years of healthy life, measured in disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs;defined as the sum of years of life lost [YLLs] and years lived with disability [YLDs]). We used the Cause of Death Ensemble model (CODEm) approach to estimate deaths due to diabetes, incorporating 25 666 location-years of data from vital registration and verbal autopsy reports in separate total (including both type 1 and type 2 diabetes) and type-specific models. Other forms of diabetes, including gestational and monogenic diabetes, were not explicitly modelled. Total and type 1 diabetes prevalence was estimated by use of a Bayesian meta-regression modelling tool, DisMod-MR 2.1, to analyse 1527 location-years of data from the scientific literature, survey microdata, and insurance claims;type 2 diabetes estimates were computed by subtracting type 1 diabetes from total estimates. Mortality and prevalence estimates, along with standard life expectancy and disability weights, were used to calculate YLLs, YLDs, and DALYs. A new approach to the synthesis of nonequidistant antenna arrays with uniform distribution based on the Genetic Algorithm of the global extrema search is introduced and analyzed. The technique is demonstrated for various uniform antenna array structure. The radiation pattern of the nonequidistant antenna array is formed using the Genetic Algorithm to reduce a side lobe level. A mathematical formula is presented to highlight the operation of objective function minimization.

Authors have developed a method of control over one of the main technological processes of manufacturing foil solar panels, i.e., burning tracks in the layers of semiconductor material and insulation. The proposed method is based on neural networks trained directly on the control object. This eliminates the laborious process of identifying the parameters of the control object mathematical model and the impact of its error on the training outcomes. To clarify the conditions for optimizing a certain law for generating the control action by neural networks various laws of control have been simulated. It's established that laws of control can be changed according to the current situation of the control object. Simulation outcomes proofed that the most efficient is the system with the PI- controller. © 2020 IEEE.

In the context of control and estimation under information constraints, restoration entropy measures the minimal required data rate above which a system can be regularly observed. The observer here is assumed to receive its state information through a communication channel of a finite bit-rate capacity. In this paper, we provide a new characterization of restoration entropy which does not require to compute any temporal limit, i.e., an asymptotic quantity. Our new formula is based on the idea of finding an adapted Riemannian metric on the state space that allows to ‘see’ the decisive quantity that determines the restoration entropy - a certain type of Lyapunov exponent - in only one step of time.

Made reasoning of the information protection from leakage through technical channels for uneven distribution of source probabilities and set the negative sequences in case of its non-consideration. Shown relations of probability information security risk conditions with power at the input of intercept receiver and given requires analytical values, which allow to assess the risk relative to the current signal/noise ratio and for the given probability of the safety risk of the required values of the maximum allowable indicators, namely the throughput of the technical channel of leakage, the probability of correct reception with possible interception and the signal/noise ratio. These ratios differ from previously known by those that take into account the uneven distribution of the signs probability on output of the source of leakage. Ratios allow automated analysis of information security risk in real time with the use of modern information systems and technologies. © 2019 CEUR-WS. All rights reserved.
